METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A SHRINK-FIT JOINT
A method for manufacturing a torque-transmitting assembly includes: turning an inner component (b) machining an outermost surface of the inner component such that the outermost surface of the inner component has a continuous convex shape; (c) turning an external component; (d) machining an innermost surface of the external component such that the innermost surface of the external component has a continuous convex shape; (e) heating the innermost surface of the external component to expand a size of the innermost surface after machining the innermost surface of the external component; (f) placing the heated external component onto the inner component while the inner component is maintained at room temperature; and (g) holding the inner component and the external component in place until an interface between the innermost surface of the external component and the outermost surface of the inner component reaches the room temperature.
Molded composite slip of sheet molded compound for downhole tool
A component of a slip assembly is formed by rolling sheet molding compound into a rolled charge. The rolled charge is positioned in a compression molding press and compressed to produce a molded element. The molded element is removed from the compression molding press and can be machined for use as the component of the slip assembly. The component can be a slip segment or can be a cylindrical body for the slip segment. The compound layers in the molded component can be oriented in a number of different orientations in the component and can increase the overall strength of the component.
Method for manufacturing a turned-down centralizer sub assembly
A method for manufacturing a centralizer assembly includes reducing a diameter of a mandrel such that a turned-down region is formed in the mandrel, positioning a first stop segment in the turned-down region, and positioning a centralizer at least partially in the turned-down region, wherein the first stop segment is positioned intermediate of axial extents of the centralizer, such that the first stop segment at least partially limits a range of motion of the centralizer relative to the mandrel.
Golf club head with grooves and method of manufacture
Embodiments of golf clubs with grooves and methods of manufacture thereof are described herein. In one embodiment of a golf club described herein, the golf club has a head with a body. The body has a strike face with channels and at least one insert located within at least one of the channels. At least one of the channels comprises a single groove, and the insert forms at least a portion of the single groove. At least one of the channels comprises an opening on the strike face that is narrower than a bottom of the at least one of the channels. Other embodiments and related methods are also disclosed herein.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR STRUCTURAL REINFORCEMENT OF VEHICLE SUSPENSION MEMBERS
A method and apparatus for assembling a suspension. In one embodiment, a method includes altering a temperature of a first suspension component and then pressing the first suspension component and a second suspension component into engagement while the temperature remains substantially altered.
TEMPERATURE-CONTROL DURING CRIMPING OF AN IMPLANT
An assembly (10) for crimping a frame (56) of an implant (58) comprises a crimping device (20) with a base (22) and a crimping mechanism (24) that defines a crimping aperture (26). A bath (28) having a floor (30), and one or more side-walls (32) extending upward from the floor to a side-wall height defines a receptacle (18) that is shaped to receive a portion of the crimping device. The apparatus has an assembled state in which the portion of the crimping device has been received by the receptacle, the crimping device is held securely by the bath, and the aperture is below the side-wall height. Other embodiments are also described.
Method of lining a tubular structure
Method of lining a tubular structure with a plastics liner pipe comprising the steps of: temporarily reducing an outside diameter of the liner pipe by passing the liner pipe through a roller system; cooling the liner pipe once its outside diameter has been reduced and applying a thermal restraint; transporting the liner pipe to an installation site remote from the roller system; removing said thermal restraint; and installing the liner pipe in said tubular structure at said installation site.
Apparatus for crimping a frame of an implant includes a crimping assembly having a bath having a floor, and one or more side-walls extending upward from the floor to a side-wall height. A crimping mechanism that defines a crimping aperture is attached to the bath such that the crimping aperture is disposed within the bath below the side-wall height. The crimping mechanism further comprises a handle and is actuatable by moving the handle circumferentially around the crimping mechanism. Actuation of the crimping mechanism transitions the crimping aperture from its open state to its narrowed state. Other embodiments are also described.
CONFIGURATION AND METHOD FOR FIXATION OF A FILTER TO A CATHETER
An attachment configuration for a vascular filter assembly including a self-expanding filter member attached to a catheter body and constrained from expansion in a first configuration by a constraining sheath is presented. The attachment configuration includes an outer tube of material that is overlaid over an end of the filter member and bonded to the catheter body through cutouts disposed through the end of the filter member.
