Polymer microfilters, devices comprising the same, methods of manufacturing the same, and uses thereof
A microfilter having a hydrophilic surface and suited for size-based capture and analysis of cells, such as circulating cancer cells, from whole blood and other human fluids is disclosed. The filter material is photo-definable, allowing the formation of precision pores by UV lithography. Exemplary embodiments provide a device that combines a microfilter with 3D nanotopography in culture scaffolds that mimic the 3D in vivo environment to better facilitate growth of captured cells.
Method for Connecting a First Component to a Second Component
A method connects a first component to a second component. The first component is located at a distance to the second component. The method includes: providing a spacer element which has a sleeve-shaped section with a through-opening and an outer thread; screwing the spacer element with the outer thread into a threaded bore which is provided in the second component; screwing the spacer element into a screwed position in which the spacer element protrudes out of the threaded bore such that the spacer element bridges the distance between the first and the second component, wherein the end face of the spacer element rests against the first component side facing the second component; and clamping together the two components and the spacer element by way of a screw which is screwed into the sleeve-shaped section of the spacer element or which passes through the sleeve-shaped section of the spacer element.
ELECTRICAL PANELBOARD GUARD WITH COUPLED MEMBERS
Disclosed herein is a panelboard guard assembly configured to restrict access to a panelboard having a cover and a door defined therein, the cover having first and second side edges. The panelboard guard assembly includes overlapping members that are, at least in some implementations, mutually coupled to each other. The panelboard guard assembly further includes an adjustment mechanism that extends between and couples the members together, the adjustment mechanism facilitating adjustment of the distance between the outer ends of the members.
BUILT-UP BEAMS AND BUILDING STRUCTURES
A built-up beam includes a pair of I-beams each having opposing flanges, a web that extends between the opposing flanges, a plurality of flange openings in each of the opposing flanges, a plurality of web openings in the web, and a plurality of bolt holes in one of the opposing flanges. The I-beams are stacked together flange-to-flange in a stacked beam configuration and a plurality of bolts extend through the plurality of bolt holes and secure the pair of I-beams together in the stacked beam configuration.
Universal joint with reinforced yoke ears
A universal joint for vehicle drivetrains and the like that eliminates the spinning of bearing caps relative to yoke years and trunnions and inhibits inadvertent spreading of opposing ears of a yoke away from each other under increasing torsional loads to reduce wear and failure of the joint. Broadly, the disclosed universal joint includes a central body having a plurality of pairs of opposite apertures, first and second yokes that are disposed about the central body over respective ones of the pairs of apertures, and a plurality of trunnions inserted through the yoke ears and into the apertures of the body to pivotally secure the yokes to the body. Each trunnion is non-rotatable relative to its respective yoke and a locking assembly inhibits movement of each opposite pair of trunnions away from each other thereby inhibiting movement of the opposite ears of each respective yoke away from each other.
METHOD AND SYSTEM OF AFFIXING A PLAQUE TO A SOLID SURFACE
A method and system of affixing a plaque to a solid surface is provided. The method includes the steps of providing at least one opening in a face of the solid surface and inserting a plaque support into the at least one opening. The plaque support includes a body defining a passageway therethrough and having a first end and a second end. The first end has a flange portion. Further, at least one outer tab member extends radially outward toward the first end and at least one inner tab member extends radially inward toward the second end. The outer tab member engages the solid surface upon insertion of the plaque support into the at least one opening. The method and system further include providing the plaque with at least one installation fastener. The at least one installation fastener is inserted into the passageway of the plaque support, such that the at least one inner tab member engages the at least one installation fastener.

Methods and apparatus for releasably supporting a vehicle wheel assembly
An axle assembly for a vehicle includes an axle shaft having a bolt end and a lever end. The axle assembly includes a cam assembly coupled to the lever end of the axle shaft. The cam assembly includes a cam housing, a cam follower shaft coupled to the cam housing, and the cam follower shaft is located coaxially within the axle shaft. The cam follower shaft does not extend the full length of the axle shaft. The cam shaft is coupled to the cam follower shaft, and a lever is coupled to the cam assembly. The lever is rotatable from an open position to a closed position, and an angle of maximum rotation for the lever between the open position and the closed position is less than 180 degrees.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ULTRASONIC DETECTION OF DEVICE DISTRACTION
According to some embodiments, systems and methods of ultrasonic detection of implantable medical device distraction are provided. The system includes a first elongate member and a second elongate member. The first elongate member has a first end that is configured to be attached to a first location on the skeletal system of a subject, a second end, and at least one landmark identifiable using ultrasound. The second elongate member has a first end that is movably coupled to the second end of the first elongate member, a second end configured to be attached to a second location on the skeletal system, and at least one landmark identifiable using ultrasound. Movement of the first elongate member in relation to the second elongate member causes a corresponding movement of the at least one first landmark in relation to the at least one second landmark which can be detected using ultrasound.
