The sterilization device is configured to generate plasma-activated water vapor and the system is configured to at least partially conduct the plasma-activated water vapor through the medical device.

An apparatus for treatment of a respiratory condition, the apparatus comprising: a pressure generator configured to generate a flow of breathable gas; an intermediate component pneumatically connected to an air delivery tube, the intermediate component comprising a port configured to facilitate propagation of sound outside of the intermediate component; a sensor attached externally to the intermediate component and located adjacent to the port of the intermediate component, the sensor configured to sense sound propagated through the air delivery tube; and a controller. The controller can be configured to: receive a sound signal generated by the sensor as a result of sensing sound during operation of the apparatus, analyse the received sound signal, and effect a response based at least in part on the analysing.

Breath indicator

This invention relates to a breath indicator that is receivable by a part of a breathing assistance apparatus that supplies gas to a patient. The indicator comprises an elongate body having a gas sampling end and an attachment end. The attachment end is adapted to attach to a part of a breathing assistance apparatus and for locating the gas sampling end. The gas sampling end is to be located in a region where gas from the patient is to be exhaled. The gas sampling end being in communication with a sensor comprising a detector material changeable between a first visual indicator state relating to an inhalation phase of the patient, and a second visual indicator state relating to an exhalation phase of the patient. The detector material is capable of changing between the visual indicator states at a sufficient rate to substantially correspond with the inhalation and exhalation phases of the patient.

Flow therapy

A method of estimating a parameter indicative of respiratory flow of a patient being administered flow therapy, comprising: optionally administering a gas at a flow rate to the patient using a flow therapy apparatus with a patient interface, determining a terminal pressure in, at or proximate the outlet of the patient interface or in, at or proximate the nares of the patient, determining nasal RTF, determining a nasal flow parameter being or indicative of nasal flow based on the pressure and a nasal RTF, and optionally outputting the nasal flow parameter or parameter derived therefrom.

Humidification arrangement for a respiratory apparatus

A gas conduit for respiratory apparatus includes a lumen for passage of a breathable gas to a patient and a flexible conduit wall surrounding the lumen. The flexible conduit wall has a humidification apparatus for delivering water vapour into the gas passing through the lumen.

The humidification device further includes a coil configured to transfer energy to the heating unit by the electromagnetic induction phenomenon, an insulating unit configured to spatially separate the heating unit and the coil to prevent electrical contact therebetween and a liquid supply unit configured to supply, to the heating unit, a liquid to be vaporized into the water vapor. This provides a humidification device that can be made smaller in size and lighter in weight, and that can quickly and sufficiently humidify a gas without heating an entire body of water to be stored, as well as a respiratory assistance device.

The present disclosure relates to a method for determining a mouth leak status associated with a user of a respiratory device is disclosed. Airflow data associated with the user of the respiratory device is received. The respiratory device is configured to supply pressurized air to an airway of the user during a therapy session. The airflow data includes pressure data. The airflow data associated with the user is analyzed. Based at least in part on the analysis, the mouth leak status associated with the user is determined. The mouth leak status is indicative of whether or not air is leaking from a mouth of the user.

A nasal ventilator assembly provides pressurized nasal oxygenation, ventilation and end tidal CO2 sampling with a movable piston, actuation of which opens and closes a vent to vent exhaled gasses to atmosphere. The piston is moved by force applied by gas supply and patient exhalation to a piston surface to actuate a spring to unblock the vent or vents to cause fluid communication between an air chamber and atmosphere. Also disclosed are an intelligent gas source and various valve configurations for use in the intelligent gas source for supplying gas to the pressurized nasal ventilator assembly or other nasal ventilation device.

Flow path fault detection method for a respiratory assistance apparatus

A respiratory assistance apparatus is configured to provide a heated and humidified glow of gases and has a control system that is configured to detect a fault in the flow path. A flow path is provided for a gases stream through the apparatus from a gas inlet through a blower unit and humidification unit to a gases outlet. A flow rate sensor is provided in the flow path and is configured to sense the flow rate and generate an flow rate signal and/or a motor speed sensor is provided that is configured to sense the motor speed of the blower unit and generate an indicative motor speed signal.
