Drive unit for circuit breakers, switchgear, and motor control centers
Disclosed herein is a drive unit for driving a tool mated with a tool receptacle in a device. The drive unit includes a tool carrying apparatus configured to carry the tool, and a proximity sensor cooperating with at least a portion of the tool carrying apparatus so as to detect movement of the tool carrying apparatus along a longitudinal axis thereof. A motor apparatus is configured to rotate the tool carrying apparatus. Control circuitry is configured to operate the motor in an engagement mode to rotate at least a portion of the tool carrying apparatus until the tool is rotationally aligned with the tool receptacle so as to permit insertion thereinto, based on the proximity sensor not detecting movement of the tool carrying apparatus a threshold distance along the longitudinal axis toward the tool receptacle.
Method for remote installation or removal of circuit breakers
A method is presented for remote installation or removal of circuit breakers using a remote racking tool outside the arc flash zone of the circuit breakers. The remote racking tool has a drive assembly, remote control assembly, and radio remote pendant station. The remote racking enables operators to install or remove circuit breakers in switchgear or equipment rooms safely away from the arc flash zone.

Fabrication of printed fuse
A power fuse for protecting an electrical load subject to transient load current cycling events in a direct current electrical power system is provided. The power fuse includes at least one fuse element assembly that includes one or more substrates, one or more sets of weak spots, and a conductor. The weak spots are formed on the substrates, and the substrates are longitudinally spaced apart from one another along the conductor. The conductor is separately provided from the substrate and the weak spots. The conductor includes one or more strips of metal having no stamped weak spot openings therein and therefore avoiding thermal-mechanical fatigue strain in the conductor when subjected to the transient load current cycling events. The conductor includes connector sections that are attached to respective ones of the sets of weak spots, and extending sections coupling the connector sections.
