The present invention relates to comprehensive systems, devices and methods for delivering energy to tissue for a wide variety of applications, including medical procedures (e.g., tissue ablation, resection, cautery, vascular thrombosis, treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and dysrhythmias, electrosurgery, tissue harvest, etc.). In certain embodiments, systems, devices, and methods are provided for delivering energy to difficult to access tissue regions (e.g. peripheral lung tissues), and/or reducing the amount of undesired heat given off during energy delivery.

A medical device control handle has a first actuation assembly and a second actuation assembly, wherein each assembly has a shaft that is axially aligned but not rotationally coupled with the other shaft. The first actuation assembly includes a first actuation member and a clutch mechanism having a friction disk for generating frictional torque in rendering the first actuation member self-holding. The first actuation member has a cam portion adapted to impart translational motion and rotational motion for disengaging the clutch mechanism upon pivotation of the first actuation member, thus allowing rotation of the first shaft to manipulate a feature of the medical device, for example, deflection. The second actuation assembly includes a second actuation member and a translating member that is responsive to rotation of the second shaft so as to manipulate another feature of the medical device. The second actuation member is also self holding.

MECHANISM FOR MANIPULATING A PULLER WIRE

A catheter that includes a mechanism for deflecting a distal portion of a catheter may include a deflection knob including a first thread, a rod including a second thread that is coupled to the first thread, and a puller wire that is connected to the rod. The rod may additionally include a pocket to which the puller wire may be connected via a joining feature that may be secured in the pocket and attached to a proximal end of the puller wire. The joining feature may include a first ferrule joined, e.g., crimped, to the proximal end of the puller wire and a second ferrule secured, e.g., bonded, in the pocket and joined, e.g., crimped, to the first ferrule.

STABILIZER FOR A DELIVERY SYSTEM

Disclosed herein are embodiments of stabilizers for use in delivering a replacement heart valve. The stabilizers can receive a portion of a delivery system, such as a handle, to prevent unwanted motion of the delivery system. The stabilizer can include a linear actuator for adjusting a position of the delivery system once held within the stabilizer.

A medical device includes a medical device body, first and second operating lines inserted in axial direction of the device body, and a bending operating part that pulls the operating lines to perform bending operation of a distal end part of the device body. The device body has the distal end part in the axial direction such that the operating lines are gradually curved and approach each other in circumferential direction of the device body toward a distal end side in the distal end part. The device body has a curved region and a parallel region such that in the curved region, the operating lines gradually curve and approach each other in the circumferential direction toward the distal end side and that in a parallel region, the operating lines extend in parallel to each other between the distal end of the curved region and distal ends of the operating lines.

A deflectable vascular peel away introducer assembly includes an elongated sheath including opposed proximal and distal end portions and at least two axial lumens extending therethrough. The elongated sheath includes at least two axially extending lines of weakness. A movable pull-wire is positioned within one of the two axial lumens. The movable pull-wire is anchored to the distal end portion of the elongated sheath to deflect a distal tip of the distal end portion of the elongated sheath. A method for deflecting and removing a vascular peel away assembly includes turning a deflection knob which causes deflection of a softer distal end portion of an elongated sheath along a primary curve. The method includes splitting spreadable handles at a proximal end portion of the elongated sheath along peel lines. The deflection can be 45 degrees or more.

This invention is directed to a medical device having a longitudinal axis, and including a handle and a catheter. The handle can include a body having a proximal end and a distal end, an actuator moveably coupled to the body, and a handle control member coupled to the actuator, wherein the actuator can be configured to move relative to the body to move the handle control member. The catheter can include a shaft having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the proximal end of the shaft and the distal end of the body can be configured for releasable coupling. The catheter can also include a steering section located along the shaft and a catheter control member coupled to the steering section, wherein the catheter control member can be configured to move relative to the shaft to move the steering section relative to the longitudinal axis. The medical device can also include a securing member configured to move relative to at least one of the handle and the catheter to releasably couple the handle control member to the catheter control member.

An example medical device includes a housing, a catheter, a drive assembly, and a trigger assembly. The trigger assembly is partially disposed within the housing and includes a trigger, a drive initiator, a drive member, a flip drive, and a biasing member. The trigger is moveable between a first position and a second position relative to the housing. The flip drive is moveable between a neutral position, a first drive position, and a second drive position. The drive assembly moves relative to the housing when the flip drive is in the first drive position and the trigger is moved from its first position to its second position.
