Catheter with tapered support member for variable arcuate distal assembly

A catheter with a variable circular loop responsive to a contraction wire for coiling is supported by a member having a tapered distal section that transitions from a circular cross-section to a generally rectangular cross-section while maintaining a uniform cross-sectional area along the entire tapered length for improved coiling characteristics. A radially constrictive sleeve prevents separation of the contraction wire from the support member to minimize misshaping of the loop during contraction.

CARDIAC ABLATION CATHETER AND SYSTEM THEREOF

A pulsed field ablation catheter for use in atrial fibrillation treatment having a distal steerable variable loop with multiple electrodes coupled to the distal end of a multilumen shaft and a handle coupled to the proximal end of the multilumen shaft. A shape imparting mechanism coupled to the handle is configured to change the shape of steerable loop by manipulating a steering mechanism to steer the steerable loop to the treatment site and a rotational actuator to change the diameter of the variable loop to better interface with varying human anatomy.

A probe (24) is provided for use with an elongate medical instrument (20). The probe (24) is configured to be advanced through vasculature of a body of a subject, and includes a distal longitudinal probe-portion (26) and one or more loops (30). The one or more loops (30) are disposed along the distal longitudinal probe-portion (26) and are configured to be looped around a distal longitudinal medical-instrument-portion (28) of the elongate medical instrument (20) when the distal longitudinal probe-portion (26) is positioned at least partially alongside a distal longitudinal medical-instrument-portion (28) within the body, thereby mechanically coupling the distal longitudinal probe-portion (26) to the distal longitudinal medical-instrument-portion (28) within the body. The probe (24) is configured to bend the elongate medical instrument (20) within the body when the distal longitudinal probe-portion (26) is mechanically coupled to the distal longitudinal medical-instrument-portion (28). Other embodiments are also described.

Double loop lasso with single puller wire for bi-directional actuation

A catheter has a distal assembly with at least one loop with ring electrodes. A single continuous puller wire for bidirectional deflection is pre-bent into two long portions and a U-shape bend therebetween. The U-shape bend is anchored at a distal end of a deflectable section which is reinforced by at least one washer having at least two holes, each hole axially aligned with a respective lumen in the deflectable section. Each hole is centered with a lumen so that each puller wire portion therethrough is straight and subjected to tensile force only. A proximal end of the support member is flattened and serrated to provide a better bonding to the distal end of the deflectable section.

MULTI-CULVATURE CATHETER AND MEDICAL DEVICE FOR SURGERY

The present disclosure relates to a catheter and a surgical medical device. The catheter includes at least: a first elastic member positioned at an end portion of the catheter, a second elastic member connected with the first elastic member, the second elastic member being curved with a first radius of curvature to protrude toward a first direction; a first wire connected with a first surface of the first elastic member, and configured to pull the catheter to bend the catheter in the first direction; a second wire connected with a second surface of the first elastic member, which is opposite to the first surface, and configured to pull the catheter to bend the catheter in a second direction; and a tube containing the first elastic member, the second elastic member, the first wire, and the second wire.

Methods and apparatus for joint distraction

A method of treating a patient's joint having opposing joint surfaces includes providing an elongate member having a proximal end, a distal end and an expandable member near the distal end. The expandable member is positioned in the joint between the joint surfaces and expanded so as to separate the joint surfaces away from one another into a distracted position. The joint is manipulated while in the distracted position so that the joint is distracted and in flexion. A diagnostic or therapeutic procedure is then performed on the joint while maintaining the joint in the flexed and distracted position.

Catheter hub with sealed access port

A catheter hub for use with a medical device and a catheter, the hub includes a hub body defining a fluid passageway in communication with a first aperture. Optionally, the hub body defines a second aperture that intersects the first aperture. The hub body attaches to the catheter wherein the fluid passageway and the catheter are aligned for fluid flow therethrough. The first aperture extends from and communicates with the fluid passageway to an exterior surface of the hub body and the first aperture configured to receive the medical device. The second aperture extends from and communicates with the first aperture and the exterior surface. A sealing element is sized for and positioned in either the first or the second apertures. The sealing element is configured to receive the medical device and seal both of the first and the second apertures.

Locking loop catheter

A drainage catheter system includes an elongate tube with proximal and distal ends and a filament extending the tube that is adjustable to create a closed loop at the distal end of the tube when the filament is retracted relative to the tube. The filament is coupled to the tube such that the filament and tube are prevented from being separated in the event that the tube and filament are cut at the proximal end at the conclusion of a drainage procedure. The filament can be attached to the tube near the distal end. The filament can be attached to the tube along its length. The catheter system can also include a retraction mechanism having a first fixed position and second fixed position, where the second fixed position retracts the filament proximally relative to the first fixed position by actuating a plunger.
