Systems, methods and devices are described including a medical device subassembly including a magnetic feature. Systems include such a catheter adapter subassembly or needle subassembly or guidewire introducer subassembly and a wire including a magnetic feature, and relative movement of the catheter adapter subassembly or needle subassembly or guidewire introducer subassembly and the wire can be determined using an magnetometer.
CATHETER INSERTION DEVICE WITH IMPROVED FLASHBACK RESPONSE
In various embodiments, an improved catheter insertion device is described that provides an improved flashback response and use for deep vein access. In various embodiments, the improved flashback response comprises two separate and distinct flash events, the first indicating insertion of a cannula in a blood vessel, and a second indicating insertion of a catheter in the blood vessel. The two flash responses are made possible by a combination of features provided on the cannula, such as including a view window in the cannula and a flat relief portion on the outer surface of the cannula at the distal opening.
ARTERIAL CATHETERS AND METHODS OF USE
Provided herein are systems, devices and methods for catheterization including arterial catheterization. An arterial catheter system, comprising a) a flexible tube sized for insertion into the artery of a subject defining at least one channel, b) a chamber portion connected at its distal end to the flexible tube, wherein the chamber defines an inner space that is fluidly connected to the channel of the flexible tube, c) a self-sealing membrane positioned within the inner space at the proximal end of the chamber portion so as to confine fluid within the inner space of the chamber, and d) an insertion needle having a needle point at its distal end operably connected at its proximal end to a guide wire, wherein the needle and guide wire collectively project along a longitudinal path through the self-sealing membrane into the inner space of the chamber portion and through the channel of the flexible tube.
Integrated vascular delivery system
An integrated vascular delivery system and method of use, the system including: a frame having a catheter hub that provides a first anchoring point on the patient and receives a catheter insertable in the patient to transfer fluid at an insertion site, a stabilization hub that provides a second anchoring point on the patient, at least one lateral member extending between the catheter and stabilization hubs, and a fluidic channel. The frame operates in a folded configuration in which the hubs are coupleable and an unfolded configuration in which the anchoring points are distributed around the insertion site to anchor the frame to the patient, thereby stabilizing the catheter. In some embodiments, the system further includes a septum that helps prevent fluid leakage from the catheter hub, or a needle shield that covers the distal end of a needle used during catheter insertion.
Safety intravenous catheter with friction-based retention and disabling feature
A catheter and introducer needle assembly, including a flexible catheter and a catheter hub having an uninterrupted outer surface portion, a Luer-connecting feature, and a disabling feature. The assembly includes an introducer needle disposed in the catheter, a needle shield having a resilient clip adapted to flex between first and second positions in a plane perpendicular to the introducer needle. The resilient clip includes a cantilevered arm with a pawl. In the resilient clip's first position, the cantilevered arm is flexed so that the pawl frictionally contacts the catheter hub's uninterrupted outer surface portion and frictionally retains the needle shield with the catheter hub, and the pawl is axially aligned with and spaced apart from the disabling feature. In the second position, the pawl no longer frictionally contacts the hub's uninterrupted outer surface, thereby permitting needle shield displacement relative to the catheter hub.
Catheter Insertion Device
A tool for inserting a catheter into a body of a patient is provided. The tool comprises: a housing in which at least a portion of the catheter is initially disposed; a needle distally extending from the housing, at least a portion of the catheter disposed over the needle; a guidewire initially disposed within the needle partially; and an advancement assembly for distally advancing the catheter. The housing comprises: a first portion comprising a distal part and a proximal part; and a second portion engaged with the first portion, wherein the distal part of the first portion is configured to be able to distally slide with respect to the second portion to release the engagement between the first portion and the second portion. The advancement assembly includes a safety cap which is initially disposed over the needle and is configured to be locked to the housing when distally sliding to a position of isolating the tip of the needle within the safety cap.
SAFETY IV CATHETER WITH V-CLIP INTERLOCK AND NEEDLE TIP CAPTURE
A catheter assembly (10) comprises a catheter (22), a needle (12) having a sharp distal tip, a catheter hub (14) housing the catheter (22), the catheter hub (14) having a collar (34) including a notch (36), a needle shield (20) connected to the catheter hub (14) when the needle (12) is in a first position, and a clip (40) disposed in the needle shield (20) that cooperates with the needle (12), wherein the clip (40) engages the catheter hub (14) in the first position of the needle (12), and the clip (40) disengages the catheter hub (14) via the notch (36) when the needle (12) is retracted to a second position to cover at least a portion of the needle (12). The clip (40) is mounted in the outer housing (38) of the needle shield (20) via a spade (66) having an outer wall (70) exposed to the outside of the needle shield (20), in order to reduce the overall width of the needle shield (20).
Catheter assembly
A catheter assembly comprising a catheter carried by a catheter adapter, a needle having a sharp distal tip and disposed in the catheter such that in a first needle position, the needle extends beyond the catheter, a damping mechanism fixed adjacent to a proximal end of the needle, and a barrel assembly configured to surround the damping mechanism, the barrel assembly including first and second inner diameters, wherein when the needle is retracted into the barrel assembly away from the first needle position, the needle moves in accordance with a needle retraction speed profile, and the needle retraction speed profile is based on the interaction between the first and second inner diameters of the barrel assembly and the damping mechanism.
CATHETER INSERTION DEVICE WITH TIP PROTECTOR HOUSING
The present disclosure provides for a safety catheter assembly comprising a needle hub, a catheter hub, a tip protector housing. Various embodiments can comprise a push-off tab extending radially from the tip protector housing or a portion thereof, and/or structure can be added or removed to affect compliance between a catheter assembly and a catheter insertion device.
ANATOMICAL STRUCTURE ACCESS
A method of accessing a hollow anatomical structure (HAS) of a patient includes puncturing the patient's skin with a needle, upon which is disposed a cannula. A tip portion of the needle is inserted into the HAS. A distal portion of the cannula is advanced distally along the needle, until the distal portion of the cannula is in the HAS. The needle is removed from the HAS while the distal portion of the cannula remains in the HAS. A guide wire is inserted into the HAS via the cannula. The cannula is removed from the HAS while at least a portion of the guide wire remains in the HAS.
