SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ASSEMBLY OF A LOW PROFILE PASSIVE PROTECTOR FOR AN I.V. CATHETER
A low-profile universal passive protector for an IV catheter includes a connector having a tubular body and a pair of arms pivotally connected thereto. The tubular body defines an end face and the connector includes a cavity extending from the end face. An elongate sheath is snap engageable to the tubular body. A spring is insertable within the connector cavity to extend between at least one of the pair of arms and the elongate sheath when received within the cavity. A slider is moveably coupled to the sheath. The slider includes a flashback chamber formed therein. A hypodermic needle is connected to the slider and is in fluid communication with the flashback chamber. The slider is moveable along the sheath between a first position and a second position, with the hypodermic needle being drawn into the sheath as the slider moves from the first position toward the second position.
Dual-Lumen Catheter Assembly
A catheter assembly includes a shaft with two non-communicating lumens for simultaneous inflow and outflow of fluids from a vein. A return lumen extends to an outlet assembly at the tip. A draw lumen includes an inlet assembly, proximally of the outlet assembly, with multiple openings to avoid blockage causing pressure elevation due to suction. The draw lumen has a larger crescent-shape profile while the return lumen has a smaller, circular profile within the arms of the crescent shape.
SAFETY INTRAVENOUS CANNULA
The present invention relates to a cannula comprising a catheter assembly, a body member, an elongated tubular member, a needle hub, and a safety device fixedly connected to a distal end of the elongated tubular member and releasably connected to the body member. The body member includes an annular groove, and the safety device comprises locking elements. When the needle is retracted from the catheter assembly after puncturing the vein of a patient, the body member is disengaged by disengaging the locking elements from the annular groove, thereby separating the safety device from the body member after the needle has been arrested within safety device. The locking elements are solid spherical elements of stainless steel material.
REUSE PREVENTION SAFETY CATHETER
A reuse prevention safety catheter is proposed. The reuse prevention safety catheter includes: a catheter hub having an external needle disposed therein; a cannula plug having an internal needle inserted and penetrated into the catheter hub disposed therein to introduce the external needle into a blood vessel and be separated from the catheter hub; and a locking guide unit having a through-hole configured to allow the internal needle to pass through, wherein the through-hole is deformed when the penetrated internal needle is withdrawn, such that re-penetration of the internal needle is blocked.
NEEDLE CAPTURE SAFETY INTERLOCK FOR CATHETER
A catheter assembly includes a flexible catheter (22), a needle (12) having a sharp distal tip, the needle (12) disposed in the flexible catheter (22) and moving from a first position that exposes the needle (12) to a second position, an outer member (26) that is configured to engage and disengage a catheter hub (14), an inner member (28) disposed in the outer member (26), and a needle protection (30) member disposed in the inner member (28), the needle protection member (30) enclosing at least a portion of the needle (12) when the needle (12) is in the second position.
Needle cover retention
A catheter assembly may include a catheter adapter, which may include a body and a nose extending distally from the body. The nose may be generally cylindrical. A strain relief rib may be disposed on the nose. The strain relief rib may be constructed of a flexible material. The catheter assembly may also include a needle secured within the catheter adapter and extending distally beyond the nose. The catheter assembly may further include a needle cover, which may be removably coupled to the nose of the catheter adapter. An inner surface of the needle cover may be smooth and may contact the strain relief rib.
Infusion device with automatic insertion and introducer needle retraction
An infusion device (10) includes one or more of automatic insertion and retraction of an introducer needle (40) and catheter (28), introducer needle safety and extension set. The device (10) can further comprise a top-push button (16) activation feature, a side-push button (402) activation feature or a rotary-button (412) activation feature, and one or more of a manual interlock of an outer barrel and base, and a manual interlock for an extension set top and base. Packaging (500) for an integrated and/or removable inserter with activation button protection is also disclosed.
Needle capture safety interlock for catheter
A catheter assembly (10) comprises a catheter (22), a needle (12) having a sharp distal tip disposed in the catheter (22), a catheter hub (14) housing the catheter (22) and the needle (12), the catheter hub (14) having a collar (34) including a notch (36), a needle shield (20) connected to the catheter hub (14) when the needle (12) is in a first position, and a clip (40) disposed in the needle shield (20) that cooperates with the needle (12), wherein the clip (40) engages the catheter hub (14) in the first position of the needle (12), and the clip (40) disengages the catheter hub (14) via the notch (36) when the needle (12) is retracted to a second position to enclose at least a portion of the needle (12). The clip (40) is mounted in the outer housing (38) of the needle shield (20) via a spade (66) having an outer wall (70) exposed to the outside of the needle shield (20), in order to reduce the overall width of the needle shield (20).
RETRACTABLE NEEDLE WITH DAMPING
Various embodiments pertain to syringes having needles that automatically retract, and including syringe assemblies in which there is a means for damping any impact of the retracting needle, slowing the retracting needle, dissipating the kinetic energy of the needle, or the like, so as to lessen any jolt or disturbance experienced by the user.
Catheter insertion system and method
A catheter inserter including an actuator assembly to move a catheter assembly outside a housing by engaging the catheter assembly multiple times, in an example. The inserter includes a needle assembly in a housing that has a first position with a needle extending from the housing and a second position with the needle retracted into the housing. A catheter assembly is removably positioned in the housing and includes a catheter and a hub connected to the catheter. An actuator assembly is further mounted to the housing and operates to selectively engage a guidewire assembly to move the guidewire past the needle and to selectively engage the catheter assembly to move the catheter and the hub outside the housing.
