Some embodiments further include a needle that assists in the insertion of the catheter into a blood vessel, and which includes a retraction feature that protects the user from an accidental needle stick when the device is ready for disposal. Still further embodiments include a protective cover that prevents a user from accidentally being stuck by a second needle used for the introduction of the patient's blood into a collection device.

Multi-diameter cannula

A catheter assembly may include a cannula. The cannula may include a distal tip, an elongated tubular shaft, and an inner lumen formed by the elongated tubular shaft. A first portion of the elongated tubular shaft may have a first outer diameter. The first portion may be proximate the distal tip. A second portion of the elongated tubular shaft may have a second outer diameter. The second outer diameter may be greater than the first outer diameter. The catheter assembly may also include a catheter adapter, which may include a catheter and a catheter hub. The second portion of the elongated tubular shaft may be at least partially disposed in the catheter hub.

Method and system for reduction of contamination in needle guides

A system and method for reducing the risk of contamination of interior regions of a needle guide which is disposed on an endocavity transducer, which system includes an elastic membrane forming a pocket which covers a needle exit hole in the needle guide. The pocket is disposed on a sheath which is both; disposed around the endocavity transducer and between the endocavity transducer and the needle guide.

NEEDLE SHIELDING DEVICE

The present disclosure discloses a needle shielding device for a catheter instrument extending along a longitudinal axis A, comprising an inner part comprising an inner part track extending along said axis A, a middle part comprising a middle part track extending along the axis A, and an internal middle part engagement, an outer grip part, comprising a needle hub, holding a needle extending along the axis A, and grip part internal engagement. The grip part internal engagement is configured to slidingly engage the middle part track, and the middle part engagement is configured to slidingly engage the inner part track such that the inner part, the middle part and the grip part are telescopingly slidable in relation to one another.

Splittable Needle for Catheter Placement System

Advanced catheter placement systems require disengaging a needle from the guidewire without disturbing a position of the guidewire within the vasculature. Embodiments include withdrawing the needle proximally and drawing the needle over a splitter system that includes a splitter wedge. The splitter system separates the needle along a longitudinal axis. A portion of the guidewire can then pass between a first portion and a second portion of the needle, allowing the needle to disengage the guidewire. A catheter disposed on a proximal portion of the guidewire can then be advanced thereover into the vasculature. A needle safety system can adhere a puncture-resistant adhesive tape to the split portions of the needle. The tape can encapsulate the portions of the needle mitigating any damage or trauma caused by sharpened edges of the needle portions.

MULTI-USE BLOOD CONTROL SAFETY CATHETER ASSEMBLY

A catheter assembly comprises a catheter (18), a needle (12) having a sharp distal tip disposed within the catheter (18), a catheter hub (14) connected to the catheter (18) having the needle (12) passing therethrough, the catheter hub (14) including a valve (38) that selectively permits or blocks a flow of fluid through the catheter (18), a valve actuator (54) that moves between a first position and a second position, and a return member (56) that returns the valve actuator (54) from the second position to the first position, and a needle protection member (176) that encloses the sharp distal tip of the needle (12).

SAFETY NEEDLE DEVICE

A safety needle device is disclosed having a housing configured to couple to a syringe, the housing having a proximal end, a distal end, and a housing body. A first guide path, a second guide path and a third guide path may be disposed on the housing body. A needle hub is disposed on the proximal end of the housing and a needle cannula is attached to the needle hub. The device having a retractable sheath configured to move between an initial position, a retracted position and an extended position with respect to the housing, wherein the initial position partially exposes a distal tip of the needle cannula, the retracted position fully exposes the needle cannula, and the extended position fully covers the distal tip of the needle cannula. The retractable sheath also may have a guide element. The first, second and third guide paths are configured to slidingly receive the guide element. The device also having a first locking member, a second locking member, a rotating cam disposed in the housing body, and a spring element to bias the retractable sheath to an extended state to cover the distal end of the needle cannula upon completion of an injection.
