Splitable Needle and Dilator Catheter Placement Device and Associated Methods

Disclosed herein is a catheter placement system including a splittable needle and dilator. The system can include a housing having one or more flexible sections and a pleated section. A user can grasp an elongate medical device using the flexible sections and transition the housing pleated section between an extended and collapsed configuration to urge the elongate medical device proximally or distally. The system can also include a needle retraction mechanism configured to split the needle long a longitudinal axis and roll up the separate portions to allow one or more elongate medical devices to pass therebetween. The system can also include a dilator splitter configured to separate a dilator along a longitudinal axis and radially displace the dilator portions to allow one or more elongate medical devices to pass therebetween. Advantageously, the system can maintain the elongate medical device in a sterile environment, mitigating the introduction of pathogens.

A safety needle system includes a safety mechanism for a needle assembly, such as a Huber needle. A main body has a channel having a proximal end to encompass tubing and a distal end for positioning proximate a needle. The main body further has a first hinge mechanism and a first latching mechanism. A movable cover has needle receptacle, a second hinge mechanism connected with the first hinge mechanism of the main body, and a biasing member for pivoting movable cover about the first and second hinge mechanisms relative to the main body. The movable cover has a second latching mechanism to latch with the first latching mechanism in a closed position, in which the safety mechanism can be undocked from the needle and slid away from the needle along the tubing. The movable cover has a release mechanism to allow pivoting of the movable cover about the hinge mechanisms such that the needle receptacle of the movable cover at least partially receives the needle of the needle assembly in an open, locked position.

The catheter introducer assembly comprises an outer tube, an outer tube housing, a needle, a needle extension member, a spring, and a retainer portion. The outer tube nests within the outer tube housing. The needle, needle extension member, and the, spring nest within the outer tube and outer tube housing. The needle tip is moved from the first position to a second position upon connection of a male luer slip to the retainer portion and the needle tip is moved from the second position to the first upon decoupling.

Bi-directional cannula feature capture mechanism

A bi-directional cannula feature capture mechanism is described herein. Generally, the capture mechanism comprises an inner housing, an outer housing, and a cannula. The inner housing comprises a proximal and a distal cannula feature mating component. The outer housing is adapted to slidably receive the inner housing in a proximal direction. Additionally, the cannula extends through the inner housing and the cannula's feature has a proximal engagement and a distal engagement. The proximal and distal engagements are respectively configured to irreversibly engage the proximal and distal cannula feature mating components when the cannula tip is moved into a shielded position.

Disposable Safe Vein Transfusion Puncture Needle

A disposable safe vein transfusion puncture needle comprising a needle head (4), a needle base (3), a needle sheath sleeved on the needle head (4), and a hose (6) communicated with the needle base (3), and further comprising a plurality of slidable components (1, 2) and a plurality of limiting mechanisms (11, 12, 13, 21, 31, 32), wherein the needle base (3) is in a tubular shape, with one end stationary and communicated with the needle head (4) and the other end connected to the hose (6); each of the slidable components (1, 2) is in a tubular shape and has two open ends, the plurality of slidable components (1, 2) are sleeved on one another, the innermost slidable component (1) is movably sleeved onto the needle base (3), and a sum of lengths of the plurality of slidable components (1, 2) in a moving direction is longer than the length of the needle head (4); the limiting mechanisms (11, 12, 13, 21, 31, 32) are disposed on the plurality of slidable components (1, 2) as well as on the needle base (3). By providing a plurality of slidable components (1, 2) sleeved on the needle base (3) in a layered manner, the operating portion length of the disposable safe vein transfusion puncture needle is made shorter, and by unfolding the slidable components (1, 2) layer by layer so as to shield the needle head (4) during use and after use, the safety level is increased and the pain suffered by the patient is alleviated.

A catheter assembly includes: an inner and outer needle assembly including: a catheter hub holding the catheter, an inner needle inserted through the catheter and configured to be punctured into a treatment target, an inner needle hub holding the inner needle, and a safety member that is movable together with the catheter hub and configured to advance beyond a needle tip of the inner needle; and a grip that accommodates the inner and outer needle assembly. The grip is configured to accommodate at least a part of the safety member before puncture of the inner needle and until the safety member advances beyond the needle tip, and includes a first member and a second member that are dividable in a direction orthogonal to a longitudinal direction of the grip.

Medical device with sliding frontal attachment and retractable needle

A medical device having a frontal attachment and a connector housing having or attachable to an associated medical apparatus, the frontal attachment slidably engaging the connector housing and having a forwardly projecting, rearwardly biased needle and a needle retraction assembly, and the connector housing having a needle retraction cavity laterally offset from the needle in a first position, the needle retraction cavity being selectively movable relative to the frontal attachment following use to reposition the needle retraction cavity into alignment with the needle to permit retraction.

Needle retraction apparatus

A needle retraction apparatus comprising a body having a forwardly projecting needle, a needle retraction mechanism seated inside the body and biasing the needle rearwardly relative to the body, a slide member attachable to the body and having an opening communicating with a needle retraction cavity projecting away from the body, and an actuator rotatable relative to the slide member to reposition the slide member from a first position preventing needle retraction to a second position permitting needle retraction. An IV catheter introducer comprising the subject needle retraction apparatus is also disclosed.
