VASCULAR ACCESS CATHETER
Vascular access catheter comprising elongated tubular catheter body enclosing a lumen. Catheter body includes catheter tip ending with a catheter distal end and comprising a distal edge at the catheter distal end surrounding an opening opened to the lumen. he distal edge includes a front edge portion spanning a top portion of the opening and an inclined edge portion spanning a bottom portion of the opening and inclining proximally away from the front edge portion, relative to a longitudinal axis of the catheter body. The vascular access catheter can be provided in a vascular access kit further comprising access needle with hollow needle body and beveled tip ending with sharp needle edge.
Integrated vascular delivery system
An integrated vascular delivery system and method of use, the system including: a frame having a catheter hub that provides a first anchoring point on the patient and receives a catheter insertable in the patient to transfer fluid at an insertion site, a stabilization hub that provides a second anchoring point on the patient, at least one lateral member extending between the catheter and stabilization hubs, and a fluidic channel. The frame operates in a folded configuration in which the hubs are coupleable and an unfolded configuration in which the anchoring points are distributed around the insertion site to anchor the frame to the patient, thereby stabilizing the catheter. In some embodiments, the system further includes a septum that helps prevent fluid leakage from the catheter hub, or a needle shield that covers the distal end of a needle used during catheter insertion.
Safety intravenous catheter with friction-based retention and disabling feature
A catheter and introducer needle assembly, including a flexible catheter and a catheter hub having an uninterrupted outer surface portion, a Luer-connecting feature, and a disabling feature. The assembly includes an introducer needle disposed in the catheter, a needle shield having a resilient clip adapted to flex between first and second positions in a plane perpendicular to the introducer needle. The resilient clip includes a cantilevered arm with a pawl. In the resilient clip's first position, the cantilevered arm is flexed so that the pawl frictionally contacts the catheter hub's uninterrupted outer surface portion and frictionally retains the needle shield with the catheter hub, and the pawl is axially aligned with and spaced apart from the disabling feature. In the second position, the pawl no longer frictionally contacts the hub's uninterrupted outer surface, thereby permitting needle shield displacement relative to the catheter hub.
Safe Cannulation Devices, Methods, and Systems
Methods and devices for use and handling of intravenous and/or subcutaneous needles, and, more particularly, to safety devices for shielding needles or other sharp articles or devices that present a safety hazard are disclosed. In an embodiment, a needle protective sheath can include a top wall, a bottom wall, and a pair of side walls joining the top and bottom walls. A finger shield extends from the top wall at a front opening of the sheath and is attached to the top wall by a hinge portion. The finger shield can be rotated about the hinge portion to block the front opening so as to secure a needle within the sheath.
ERGONOMIC IV SYSTEMS AND METHODS
An IV catheter system may include a catheter component with a catheter hub, a cannula extending distally from the catheter hub, and a securement platform. The securement platform may include a wing, which may extend from the catheter hub. The IV catheter system may also include a needle component with a needle hub, a needle extending distally from the needle hub along an axis, and a grip extending from the needle hub. The grip may be generally parallel to the axis and disposed on a side of the needle hub. The wing and the grip may be positioned to facilitate manipulation with a single hand to move the IV catheter system from an insertion configuration towards a fluid delivery configuration.
Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter Systems, Devices, And Methods Thereof For Pediatrics
A catheterization system for treatment of patients can include a peripherally inserted central catheter comprising a catheter tube joined to an extension leg with a junction and a securement device that fits around a portion of the junction to inhibit movement. The catheter tube can include a taper proximate the junction, the taper transitioning the catheter tube from a larger outer diameter and a larger wall thickness to a smaller outer diameter and a smaller wall thickness. The taper and thicker wall thickness near the junction can help prevent damage to the catheter tube near the junction when bent (e.g., to secure a proximal region of the catheter to a patient's arm). The securement device can configured to fit around an outer diameter of the junction to inhibit movement of the junction when the junction is held in the securement device.
DELIVERY DEVICE FOR A VASCULAR ACCESS INSTRUMENT
A delivery device for delivering an instrument into a catheter assembly may include a housing having a proximal end, a distal end, and a slot. The delivery device may include a guide feature, which may be disposed within the housing. The guide feature may extend through the slot. The delivery device may include an instrument disposed within the housing and extending through the guide feature. In response to movement of the guide feature along the slot in the distal direction a first distance, a first end of the instrument may be advanced in the distal direction a second distance, which may be greater than the first distance. A second end of the instrument may be stationary with respect to the housing.
NEEDLE INSERTION DEVICE
The present invention generally provides a device for inserting needles and alleviating the discomfort associated with needle insertion. In certain embodiments, the device is suited for injecting butterfly needles and particularly butterfly needles that are attached to infusion tubing. The patient or caregiver loads a butterfly needle with tubing attached into the base of the drive plunger. The needle with tubing attached is retracted into the housing of the device by retracting the inner plunger. Once retracted, the device is activated and ready to administer a needle into the tissue of a patient. The device is then placed on the location of the skin where injection is desired. The surface that contacts the skin may be textured and may include a contact switch that causes the device to vibrate when slight pressure is applied through contact with the skin. Two trigger buttons in the housing of the device may be depressed to eject the needle at an angle essentially perpendicular to the surface of the skin into the tissue of the patient concurrently with the textured pads contacting the skin and vibrating, distracting the patient from the needle insertion. The inner plunger of the device is then depressed toward the surface of the skin to release the needle from the device. The wings and body of the butterfly may be secured to the skin, for example, with an adhesive such as tape.
CANNULA AND NEEDLE ASSEMBLY
A cannula and needle assembly configured to first have the needle assembly create an opening in the skin of a person or animal and to then insert the cannula through the needle into the person or animal by way of the opening created by the needle. The assembly also includes structure to yieldably maintain the needle assembly in a docked position.
PERIPHERAL INTRAVENOUS CATHETER WITH WINGED GRIP
A PIVC includes a catheter adapter having a catheter that extends distally from the catheter adapter, and an introducer needle that inserts through the catheter. The introducer needle has a grip component at a proximal end of the introducer needle. The grip component extends outwardly and distally to form a winged grip adjacent the catheter adapter when the introducer needle is inserted within the catheter. The grip component can be rotatable within the catheter adapter to allow repositioning of the winged grip with respect to the catheter adapter.
