Dilator

A dilator includes a shaft with a tapered portion having an outer diameter that is smaller at a distal end than at a proximal end; a proximal end portion provided at a proximal end side of the tapered portion; and optionally a distal end portion provided at a distal end side of the tapered portion. Pitches of adjacent portions of the spirally-arranged protruding portion provided on the tapered portion are different (either smaller or larger) than those of adjacent portions of the spirally-arranged protruding portion provided on distal end side of the proximal end portion and/or on the distal end portion.

MEDICAL CATHETER

In some examples, a catheter may include an elongate body and a push assembly. The elongate body may include an inner liner defining an entry port into a lumen defined by the elongate body, and an outer jacket. The push assembly may an anchor member positioned at a distal end of an elongate member. Distal to a proximal end of the elongate body, a first portion of the push assembly, comprising the anchor member, may be positioned between a portion of the inner liner and a portion of the outer jacket. The anchor member may extend only partially around an outer perimeter of the inner liner when the catheter is assembled. Proximal to the proximal end of the elongate body, a second portion of the push assembly, proximal to the first portion, may be positioned outside of the outer jacket and the inner liner.

Trans-anal inflow catheter for intermittently triggering a reflex-coordinated defecation

The invention relates to a device for transanally introducing an infusion into the rectum or colon of a patient, said device comprising a catheter with a catheter shaft wherein, to ensure the most practicable catheter insertion possible, the catheter shaft is equipped in the proximal, preanal region with gripping depressions to accommodate the fingers gripping the catheter during insertion.

Skin Nicking Device For Catheter Placement System
20230255660 · 2023-08-17 ·

A catheter placement system including a catheter, a needle for creating an insertion site, and a skin nicking device for enlarging the insertion site. A catheter placement device includes the skin nicking device slidably coupled with the needle, where the skin nicking device has one or more blades attached to a frame thereof. Distally displacing the skin nicking device along the needle causes the blade to nick the skin to enlarge the insertion site. A shield of the skin nicking device transitions between a safe configuration encapsulating the blade and a use configuration exposing the blade and the shield may be biased toward the safe configuration. A latch secures the shield in the safe configuration and an actuator releases the latch. A sheath of the skin nicking device includes the needle slidably disposed within a lumen thereof and a sharp tip of the blade embedded within a wall thereof.

Methods and devices for vascular access

Valve assemblies having improved ability to selectively control flow of fluids through the catheter and prevent leakage of fluids from the proximal end of a catheter that is positioned within a patient. Such improved catheter valve assemblies also prevent leakage of fluids after repeated insertion and removal of medical instruments through the valve.

Ribbed dilator tip

A dilator tip may include an elongated tubular member defined by a circumferential wall and having a distal tip region and a proximal end, and a plurality of ribs extending longitudinally between the distal tip region and the proximal end. The plurality of ribs may extend radially outward from the elongated tubular member, and the plurality of ribs may be spaced apart circumferentially.

An access device for placing a medical article within a body space includes a syringe, a needle, and a sheath which are employed together with a guide wire. The sheath can be coaxially and slideably disposed about the needle. During insertion of the sheath over the needle, guide wire and into the body space, the syringe provides a negative pressure to ensure that any air located between the inside diameter of the sheath and the outside diameter of the needle is drawn into the needle rather than into the body space. In certain embodiments, a dilator is coaxially and slideably disposed about the needle and within the sheath.

Methods and devices for transcarotid access

Disclosed is an arterial access sheath for introducing an interventional device into an artery. The arterial access sheath includes an elongated body sized and shaped to be transcervically introduced into a common carotid artery at an access location in the neck and an internal lumen in the elongated body having a proximal opening in a proximal region of the elongated body and a distal opening in a distal region of the elongated body. The internal lumen provides a passageway for introducing an interventional device into the common carotid artery when the elongated body is positioned in the common carotid artery. The elongated body has a proximal section and a distalmost section that is more flexible than the proximal section. A ratio of an entire length of the distalmost section to an overall length of the sheath body is one tenth to one half the overall length of the sheath body.

Rapidly Insertable Central Catheters Including Catheter Assemblies and Methods Thereof
20210361915 · 2021-11-25 ·

Rapidly insertable central catheters (“RICCs”) including catheter assemblies and methods thereof are disclosed. For example, a RICC assembly includes a RICC and an introducer. The RICC includes a catheter tube, a catheter hub, and one or more extension legs coupled in the foregoing order. The catheter tube includes a side aperture that opens into an introducing lumen that extends from at least the side aperture to a distal end of the RICC. The introducer includes a retractable-needle device, a syringe, and a coupling hub that couples the retractable-needle device and the syringe together proximal of the side aperture in a ready-to-deploy state of the RICC assembly. The retractable-needle device includes an introducer needle. A needle tip in a distal-end portion of a shaft of the introducer needle extends beyond the distal end of the RICC when the RICC assembly is in the ready-to-deploy state of the RICC assembly.
