GUIDEWIRE DEVICES HAVING DISTALLY EXTENDING COILS AND SHAPEABLE TIPS
20210178128 · 2021-06-17 ·

The present disclosure relates to guidewire devices having shapeable tips and effective torquability. A guidewire device includes a core having a proximal section and a tapered distal section. A tube structure is coupled to the core such that the tapered distal section of the core extends into and distally beyond the tube structure. The portion of the core extending distally beyond the tube forms a shapeable tip. One or more coils also extend distally beyond the tube. The tip is configured to reduce the tendency of resilient forces from the tube structure to disrupt a customized shape of the tip.

ENDOSCOPIC ULTRASOUND GUIDED ACCESS NEEDLE

An access needle includes a hollow shaft having a lumen sized and shaped to slidably receive a guidewire therein and having a distal end including an angled surface extending proximally and transversely from a sharpened distal-most tip of the shaft to a beveled smoothed area of the shaft proximal and transverse to the sharpened tip. The beveled smoothed area is positioned to slidably engage a guidewire extended distally out the distal end of the needle so that, as the guidewire is retracted proximally into the needle, the beveled smoothed area slidably engages the guidewire to minimize abrasion to the guidewire.

MEDICAL SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND RELATED METHODS

A medical system includes a source of a material, a first tube, and a second tube. The material is configured to expand and form a porous body after the material is deployed into a body lumen. The first tube is configured to deliver the material into the body lumen, and the second tube is configured to apply suction to the porous body.

GUIDEWIRES FOR MEDICAL DEVICES

A guidewire includes: a shaft having a proximal end, a distal end, and a body extending from the proximal end to the distal end; a blunt tip; and a sleeve; wherein the body of the shaft comprises at least a segment that is surrounded by the sleeve, the segment coupled to the blunt tip; and wherein the segment of the body of the shaft comprises a flat portion having one or more openings extending through a thickness of the flat portion.

TUBULAR INSTRUMENT TO REDUCE VEIN TRAUMA AND RELATED DEVICES AND METHODS

A delivery device to deliver a tubular instrument into a catheter extending distally from a catheter adapter. The delivery device may include a housing configured to couple to the catheter adapter. The delivery device may include a tubular instrument configured to insert through the catheter. The tubular instrument may include a distal end, a proximal end, and a lumen extending between the distal end and the proximal end. The distal end may include a distal tip, which may be closed. The proximal end may be secured within the housing. The tubular instrument may be configured to advance distally with respect to the housing. A portion of the distal end proximate the distal tip may include a first material and may be stiffer than the distal tip, which may include a second material. A durometer of the first material may be greater than a durometer of the second material.

Imaging guidewire with photoactivation capabilities
10987492 · 2021-04-27 · ·

A guidewire providing imaging and light for photoactivation of therapeutic agents. Using optical fibers with Bragg gratings, electromagnetic waves are coupled to photoacoustic materials thereby providing acoustic energy for imaging tissues. The reflected acoustic waves can be sensed with photoreflective materials coupled to different optical fibers. Additional optical fibers allow photoactivated therapeutics to be activated in proximity to the imaged tissues. The photoactivated therapeutics may be administered intravenously or with a drug-delivery catheter.

Disclosed is a novel vascular optical fiber guidewire. The vascular optical fiber guidewire includes a metal axial wire and an optical fiber surrounding the metal axial wire. The optical fiber includes a core wire and a cladding layer covering the core wire. For above vascular optical fiber guidewire, in a part of the optical guidewire that is required to transmit light, a bending radius of the optical fiber around the metal axial wire is greater than a critical bending radius, and in a region of the optical fiber guidewire that is required to scatter light, the bending radius of the optical fiber around the metal axial wire is less than the critical bending radius. The present disclosure is capable of entering a blood vessel by a percutaneous puncture technique, guiding the optical fiber guidewire through a medical imaging device in a blood vessel, and performing side-illumination on the head.
