An example fluid collection assembly includes a fluid impermeable layer including a proximal end region, a distal end region opposite the proximal end region, a front region defining an opening, and a back region opposite the front region. The fluid impermeable layer also defines at least a chamber and a fluid outlet. The fluid collection assembly also includes at least one porous material disposed in the chamber that extends across the opening. The fluid collection assemblies includes one or more leak prevention features that are configured to decrease the likelihood that bodily fluids leak from the fluid collection assembly. The leak prevention features may include one or more of at least a portion the porous material extending across the opening exhibiting a wedge-like shape, the fluid outlet being positioned on the back region, or an extension extending from the distal end region.

ISOLATION AND TREATMENT OF AN ORGAN OR TUMOR

Systems and methods for perfusing a treatment solution into the blood stream of particular organs while isolating those organs from the systemic vasculature as a whole. By deploying both collection and supply catheters, some having balloons on their distal ends, to particular locations within the body, various organs can be isolated so that the treatment solution can be delivered directly thereto. By isolating the organs, any side effects that may occur from a systemic introduction of the treatment solution are avoided. The method may be used to isolate not just organs, but specific tumors within certain organs for oncology treatment.

System and method for measuring female urethral length

In one embodiment, a device measures the length of the urethra. The device includes a hollow tube having markings, wherein the hollow tube includes an internal end and an external end. The internal end includes one or more fins that can be manipulated into an open position and a closed position. The external end includes an opening allowing the insertion of a push-tube sliding axially within the body of the hollow tube, the push-tube being used to manipulate the fins into the open and closed positions. Further, an outer ring moves axially along the exterior of hollow tube and is utilized to measure the length of the urethra.

INTERMITTENT CATHETER

An intermittent catheter, preferably a female intermittent catheter, is provided in an assembly. The assembly may include a cap which may be attachable to the base of the assembly in use, and/or a seal which misaligns with sealing surfaces of a chamber wall and a moveable insert in use. It may have a two-step deployment, and/or a sheath that pulls out a storage chamber. Internal and external housing may define the storage chamber. The housing may have a filling aperture and/or the storage chamber may comprise an insert configured to move axially in response to rotation.

Apparatus and methods for receiving discharged urine

A system suitable for collecting and transporting urine away from the body of a person or animal may include an assembly having a fluid impermeable casing having a fluid reservoir at a first end, a fluid outlet at a second end, and a longitudinally extending fluid impermeable layer coupled to the fluid reservoir and the fluid outlet and defining a longitudinally elongated opening between the reservoir and the outlet. The assembly can further include a fluid permeable support disposed within the casing with a portion extending across the elongated opening, and a fluid permeable membrane disposed on the support and covering at least the portion of the support that extends across the elongated opening, so that the membrane is supported on the support and disposed across the elongated opening. The assembly can further include a tube having a first end disposed in the reservoir and a second, fluid discharge end.

Examples relate to fluid collection assemblies, systems, and methods for collecting fluid from a wearer of the fluid collection assembly. The fluid collection assemblies include a fluid collection device attachable to an adapter. The fluid collection device includes porous material disposed within a fluid impermeable barrier. The adapter includes an interfacing body having at least one orifice and at least one attachment feature for attaching the adapter to the fluid collection device such that the porous material is fluidly connected to the at least one orifice. A fluid collection system includes a fluid collection device operably coupled to a fluid storage container and vacuum source via one or more sections of conduit.

Ureteral and Bladder Catheters and Methods of Inducing Negative Pressure to Increase Renal Perfusion

Ureteral catheters are provided including a drainage lumen including a distal portion configured to be positioned in a patient's kidney, renal pelvis and/or in the ureter adjacent to the renal pelvis for receiving fluid from a patient's kidney and a proximal portion for draining the fluid from the distal portion, the distal portion including a coiled retention portion including: at least a first coil having a first diameter; at least a second coil having a second diameter, the first diameter being less than the second diameter, the second coil being closer to an end of the distal portion of the drainage lumen than the first coil; and one or more perforations on a sidewall of the coiled retention portion of the distal portion of the drainage lumen for permitting fluid flow into the drainage lumen, wherein the proximal portion of the drainage lumen is essentially free of or free of perforations.

CONTAINER FOR COLLECTING LIQUID FOR TRANSPORT

A container for collecting liquid for transport, comprising: a web of flexible porous material defining at least a portion of a chamber in which liquid can be collected for transport. The chamber is configured to receive a tube in a position within the chamber that enables the tube to transport liquid from the chamber while the liquid collects within the chamber upon being drawn through the web when a partial vacuum is applied within the chamber via the tube. The porous material comprises a web of spun plastic fibers, such as spun polyester fibers. In one embodiment, the web of spun plastic fibers is configured to define an elongated portion of the chamber. In another embodiment, a backing of non-permeable material covers a portion of the web and is so combined with the web as to further define the chamber.
