Co-extrusion of periodically modulated structures
A structure at least one stripe of material having a length, wherein a first stripe has a varying width along the length.
MICROFIBERS WITH MUSHROOM-SHAPED TIPS FOR OPTIMAL ADHESION
This invention identifies important geometric parameters of an adhesive microfiber with mushroom-shaped tip for improving and optimizing adhesive ability. The magnitude of pull-off stress is dependent on a wedge angle and the ratio of the tip radius to the stalk radius of the mushroom-shaped fiber. Pull-off stress is also found to depend on a dimensionless parameter x, the ratio of the fiber radius to a length-scale related to the dominance of adhesive stress. Finally, the shape of edge tip, where the surface and sides of the mushroom-shaped tip join, is a factor that impacts strength of adhesion. Optimizing ranges for these parameters are identified.
Dry adhesives and methods for making dry adhesives
A dry adhesive and a method of forming a dry adhesive. The method includes forming an opening through an etch layer and to a barrier layer, expanding the opening in the etch layer at the barrier layer, filling the opening with a material, removing the barrier layer from the material in the opening, and removing the etch layer from the material in the opening.

ANTIMICROBIAL COLLOIDAL SILVER PRODUCTS AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME
Gelatinous materials combined with the Colloidal Silver additive to formulate an antimicrobial product having cushioning properties. Embodiments of the present invention can include gelatinous materials selected from a group consisting of thermosetting polymer, Styrene-Ethylene-Butadiene-Styrene polymer (SEBS), Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE), and Polyurethane (PU) gelatin with and without a raised geometry on an outer surface.
Filaments and fibers and method for making filaments and fibers
A fiber is disclosed having a central axis or spline and a major outer surface, the fiber made of a base material and poly(vinylidene fluoride), the proportion of base material to poly(vinylidene fluoride) being greater towards the central axis or spline of the fiber than at the major outer surface of the fiber. The base material may be selected from the group consisting of polyethylene, polypropylene and nylon. The fiber has a surface roughness.

Fiber-containing particles with dual-tapered shape
Recycled carbon fibers are processed by rotational tumbling in a mixture with binder material to prepare fiber-containing particles having a dual-tapered shape and general alignment of fibers with a longitudinal direction of the particles. Bulk products including such fiber-containing particles are compounded with polymer and pelletized to prepare fiber-reinforced composite pellets, which are useful for applications such as injection molding to prepare molded products of carbon fiber-reinforced composite material with recycled carbon fibers.
Bristle for antibacterial cosmetic brush, and antibacterial cosmetic brush obtained using said bristle and process for producing same
An antibacterial cosmetic brush bristle material made of a polyester resin filament that has irregularities formed on its surface and comprises 70.0 to 90.0 percent by weight of polytrimethylene terephthalate, 29.2 to 9.9 percent by weight of polybutylene terephthalate, and 0.8 to 0.1 percent by weight of inorganic particles constituting silver-containing soluble glass; a cosmetic brush using such bristle material; and a method of manufacturing such brush.
ARTIFICIAL TURF MONOFILAMENTS AND METHODS FOR THEIR MANUFACTURE
The present application relates to artificial turf monofilaments (100) and to methods of their manufacture.
