AUTOMATED PARTICLE IMPLANTATION SYSTEMS, PARTICLE CHAIN GENERATING MECHANISMS, AND PUNCTURE DEVICES
The present disclosure discloses an automated particle implantation system comprising an active system and a passive system. The active system may be configured to obtain a scanning image of a scanned object. The active system may be also configured to plan a radioactive particle implantation treatment according to the scanning image and obtain a radioactive particle implantation treatment planning result. The active system may be further configured to control the passive system to execute a radioactive particle implantation operation based on the radioactive particle implantation treatment planning result. The present disclosure further discloses a particle chain generating mechanism. The present disclosure further discloses a puncture device terminal.
Device and method for delivering medicaments
A medicament delivery vehicle, the vehicle comprising a reversibly deformable carrier (RDC) adapted to support the medicament on an outside surface of the carrier, an inside surface of the carrier, or homogeneously dispersed throughout the carrier. Specifically, the medicament delivery device may include a reversibly deformable carrier (RDC) adapted to support the medicament.
AUTOMATED BRACHYTHERAPY WITH ROBOTICS AND/OR IMAGE GUIDANCE
An automated brachytherapy apparatus and method include robotics and/or image guided brachytherapy.
DOSIMETRICALLY CUSTOMIZABLE BRACHYTHERAPY CARRIERS AND METHODS THEREOF IN THE TREATMENT OF TUMORS
Brachytherapy radioisotope carrier systems and methodology for providing real-time customized brachytherapy treatment to subjects with tumors difficult to control using conventional radiation therapy techniques. The invention generally relates to devices, methods and kits for providing customized radionuclide treatments, to help cure, slow progression or regrowth, or ameliorate the symptoms associated with tumors.
TISSUE SAMPLING AND CATHETER SELECTION CANCER TREATMENT METHODS
A catheter treatment apparatus comprises an elongate tubular member and an expandable support. The expandable support comprises a radioactive substance to treat cancerous tissue and is configured to expand from a narrow profile for insertion to a wide profile to engage and treat tissue remaining after resection. The expandable support can be sized to fit within a volume of removed tissue to place the radioactive substance in proximity to the capsule and remaining tissue, to spare the capsule and proximate nerves and vessels to treat tissue in proximity to the capsule. The elongate tubular member may comprise a channel such as a lumen to pass a bodily fluid such as urine when the expandable support engages the tissue to treat the patient for a plurality of days. The treatment apparatus can be used to resect and diagnose tissue concurrently. Based on the diagnosis, targeted segmental treatment may be given.
Multi-imager compatible robot for image-guided interventions and fully automated brachytherapy seed
Featured is a robot and a needle delivery apparatus. Such a robot comprises a plurality of actuators coupled to control locating any of number of intervention specific medical devices such as intervention specific needle injectors. Such a robot is usable with image guided interventions using any of a number of types of medical imaging devices or apparatuses including MRI. The end-effector can include an automated low needle delivery apparatus that is configured for dose radiation seed brachytherapy injection. Also featured is an automated seed magazine for delivering seeds to such an needle delivery apparatus adapted for brachytherapy seed injection.
Radiotherapy applicator
An applicator for delivery of radiotherapy seeds to a tumor of a patient through an elongate needle (104). The elongate needle comprises a needle handle (204) and a needle tube having a given length for insertion into the patient. The applicator comprises an elongate applicator tube (106) designed to pass through the elongate needle, wherein the elongate applicator tube defines an internal channel which receives one or more radiotherapy seeds (110), an applicator handle (210) configured to be attached to the needle handle (204); and a stylet (108) within the elongate applicator tube. The elongate applicator tube is longer than the elongate needle.
ANCHORED BRACHYTHERAPY DEVICE
Aspects herein are directed to an anchorable brachytherapy device configured to be permanently implanted in a tumor bed at the time of operative removal of the tumor. In exemplary aspects, the brachytherapy device may comprise a plurality of hollow tubes that form a spherical or ellipsoid shape. Protrusions or grooves may be formed on an outer surface of the tubes to help anchor the brachytherapy device in the tumor bed. Radioactive seeds or strands may be positioned within the tube channels to provide radiation to the tumor bed.
Radioactive therapeutic device with fixation
Devices and techniques for permanent application of radioactive sources in the field of brachytherapy are described. In an embodiment, an implantable device for radiation therapy of pathological tissues directed toward the administration of radiation to tissue adjacent a cavity wall or surgical excision. The device may include an insertable member, such as a substantially cylindrical member, having at least two ends, a central section positioned between the ends, and a fixation element to retain the implantable device implanted in tissue at a desired position. The device may further include a radioactive source at least partially positioned within the insertable member and that is disposed to deliver radiation to a desired area.
BRACHYTHERAPY CLIP AND APPLICATOR
A surgical implant includes a biocompatible member configured for securement to an underlying target surgical site and a radiation source integrated into or onto the biocompatible member. The surgical implant may be one of a clip, pin, or coil and the radiation source includes at least one brachytherapy capsule, or other radioactive material incorporated therein or provided thereon. The radioactive material provides a dose of radiation to the target surgical site. The surgical implant may also be formed from titanium, stainless steel or polymers. A surgical applier is provided for allowing a surgeon to apply the implant to a patient's tissue.
