Functionalized resin having a polar linker

Polar silane linkers are provided that attach to resins to form silane-functionalized resins. The functionalized resins can be bound to hydroxyl groups on the surface of silica particles to improve the dispersibility of the silica particles in rubber mixtures. Further disclosed are synthetic routes to provide the silane-functionalized resins, as well as various uses and end products that benefit from the unexpected properties of the silane-functionalized resins. Silane-functionalized resins impart remarkable properties on various rubber compositions, such as tires, belts, hoses, brakes, and the like. Automobile tires incorporating the silane-functionalized resins are shown to possess excellent results in balancing the properties of rolling resistance, tire wear, and wet braking performance.

Silicone mist inhibitor

A silicone mist inhibitor which has an excellent effect of inhibiting silicone mist and provides a composition and a cured product which have excellent storage stability is provided. A silicone mist inhibitor includes at least one selected from organic powder, inorganic powder and inorganic-organic composite powder, wherein the powder has a volume average particle size of 100 to 4000 nm. Further, a solventless silicone composition includes an organopolysiloxane having a viscosity at 25 degrees C. of 25 to 50,000 mPa.Math.s, wherein the solventless silicone composition further includes the aforesaid silicone mist inhibitor in an amount of 0.1 to 10 parts by mass, relative to 100 parts by mass of the organopolysiloxane.

COATED PROPPANTS FOR FRACKING EXTRACTION METHODS

The invention relates to coated support means for fracking mining methods, containing an inorganic substrate material and a coating containing polymers of one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers from the group containing vinyl esters of unbranched or branched alkyl carboxylic acids with 1 to 15 C atoms, methacrylic acid esters and acrylic acid esters of alcohols with 1 to 15 C atoms, vinyl aromatics, olefins, dienes and vinyl halides, characterised in that the polymers are obtained by means of radical-initiated polymerisation in an aqueous medium, wherein 0.5 to 20 wt. % of ethylenically unsaturated and silane group-containing monomers are copolymerised, in relation to the total weight of the monomers.

A coated powder comprises (a) nanoparticles, and (b) a coating, on the surface of the nanoparticles. The coating comprises (1) silica moieties, (2) organo oxysilane moieties selected from the group consisting of mono-organo oxysilane moieties, bi-organo oxysilane moieties and tri-organo oxysilane moieties, and (3) poly(dialkyl)siloxane moieties.

Sulfur scavenging materials

Materials which react with (scavenge) sulfur compounds, such as hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans, are useful for limiting sulfur-induced corrosion. Surface-modified particles incorporating a hexahydrotriazine moiety are disclosed and used as sulfur scavengers. These surface-modified particles are used a filter media in fixed filter systems and as additives to fluids including sulfur compounds. The hexahydrotriazine moiety can react with sulfur compounds in such a manner as to bind sulfur atoms to the surface-modified particles, thus allowing removal of the sulfur atoms from fluids such as crude oil, natural gas, hydrocarbon combustion exhaust gases, sulfur polluted air and water. The surface-modified particles may, in general, be sized to allow separation of the particles from the process fluid by sedimentation, size-exclusion filtration or the like.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING GRAPHITIC SHEET

A method for manufacturing a graphitic sheet is used to obtain the graphitic sheet with similar characteristics to graphene. The method includes forming an ocatadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) layer on a substrate to obtain a composite. The composite is annealed at 250-400 C. for 30-90 minutes, forming the graphitic sheet on the substrate via self-assembly of ocatadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) in the OTS layer. The annealed composite is immersed in water, followed by being sonicated for 2 minutes with a frequency of 40 kHz and a power output of 200 W, to separate the graphitic sheet from the substrate.
