Portable devices for exercising muscles in the ankle, foot, and/or leg, and related methods
A method of exercising includes positioning a foot of a user onto a pedal of an exercise device. The pedal is pivotably connected to a pair of supports forming a triangular base and has a neutral position relative to a pivot axis of the device. The method includes applying a first force to the pedal to rotate the pedal about the pivot axis in a first direction, toward a first support. The method includes resisting movement of the pedal toward the first support with a resistance mechanism of the device. The method includes applying a second force to the pedal to rotate the pedal about the pivot axis in a second direction, opposite the first direction, toward a second support and away from the first support. The method includes resisting movement of the pedal toward the second support with the resistance mechanism of the device.
Therapeutic walking trainer
A therapeutic walking trainer with a foot receiving portion for receiving at least a sub-region the forefoot of a user or for forming a connection with a toe of a shoe, having at least one main carrier which can be displaced in and/or counter to an adjustment direction, and with an actively and/or passively operable adjustment unit for the relative adjustment, oriented essentially perpendicular to the adjustment direction, of the foot receiving portion relative to the at least one main carrier.
Exercise device
An exercise device includes a footwear part, a brace part and at least one resistance band. The footwear part has a foot receiving portion configured to receive a front portion of a user's foot. The brace part is configured to be releasably attached to a knee area of the user. The at least one resistance band is configured to be releasably secured at opposite ends thereof to the footwear part and brace part, respectively. The exercise device can be used, among other things, for conditioning and strengthening, for aerobic exercises, and to help individuals maintain proper foot placement throughout an entire exercise and improve their form by helping them stay on their forefoot when performing an exercise dealing with brisk walking or running.
Ankle muscle resistance-training apparatus
The present invention addresses the technical problem of providing an ankle muscle resistance-training apparatus which induces an angle change of the ankle while the ankle is actively moving, and can improve strength of the ankle muscle by applying resistance force to the ankle movement. To this end, the ankle muscle resistance-training apparatus according to the present invention comprises: a support member; a first movement guiding shaft; an intermediate member; a second movement guiding shaft; a foot support; a first resistance force application part; and a second resistance force application part. The first resistance force application part is linked with the first movement guiding shaft and applies resistance force of an adjustable intensity against the active ankle movement of a user made with respect to the first movement guiding shaft in a state in which the foot is placed on the foot support, and the second resistance force application part is linked with the second movement guiding shaft and applies resistance force of an adjustable intensity against the active ankle movement of a user made with respect to the second movement guiding shaft in the state in which the foot is placed on the foot support.
Exercise apparatus
Exemplary embodiments of an exercise apparatus are provided, both as a stationary and a portable unit, the exercise apparatus including a base frame, a base plate provided on the base frame, the base plate including a plurality of holes on a top surface of the base plate and configured to rotate with respect to the base frame, a foot plate provided on the base plate, the foot plate including a tapered pin on a bottom surface of the foot plate that can engage with one of the plurality of holes of the base plate, wherein when the tapered pin is engaged to one of the plurality of holes of the base plate, the foot plate and base plate are configured to rotate with respect to the base frame.
PORTABLE THERAPEUTIC STRENGTHENING APPARATUS USING ADJUSTABLE RESISTANCE
A lightweight, portable leg strengthening apparatus includes a footplate and calf support which form a leg rest, a top a friction free sliding element running longitudinally along and supported on a rectangular base. The leg rest is hinged at its attachment to the sliding element to allow a longitudinal tilting movement. The leg rest has adjustability at the hinge point at the ankle to enable alterations in the foot position. The leg rest has a removable heel support which provides the ability for either no pressure of full pressure to be exerted through the heel area of the user. The leg rest is able to be rotated 180° to allow for the user to either push the leg rest a top the guide member away from the user to allow the user to work their quadriceps, or may be pulled towards the user allowing the user to work their hamstring. The apparatus uses resistance material/rubber cords or springs attached via a plate to a steel cable, travelling via an aperture in the end of the device to the back of the sliding element a top the body of the device to create tension as the leg rest a top the sliding element is moved longitudinally along the body of the device. Resistance can be varied and progressed by using different numbers of resistance cords/springs. Organ stop devices are used to engage and disengage the resistance means so that the user has no need to have physical contact with said resistance means. A movable block on the rear of the device behind the sliding element prevents a patient flexing the knee and hip further than is appropriate for them. Fold away legs that are rotated out from under the device and locked into place make the device versatile for using whilst seated or folded away for use on a bed. A contact sensor at the front of the device enables visual display of number of repetitions achieved on a screen at the rear of the apparatus.
LOWER LATERAL ROTATION MUSCLES STRETCHING DEVICE
A muscle stretching device comprises a base and a pair of footrests adjustably mounted to the base. The footrests may have an upper surface angled upwardly and a lateral portion height greater than a medial portion height thereof. The footrests may have an upstanding edge rim. The footrests may extend rearwardly from the base. The base may include front and rear fixation pins constructed and arranged to extend upwardly from a top surface of the base. Each footrest may comprise a front fixation opening for connection to a front fixation pin of the base, and a plurality of rear fixation openings for connection to a rear fixation pin of the base. The rear fixation openings may comprise a medial rear fixation opening, an intermediate rear fixation opening and a lateral rear fixation opening. The muscle stretching device may be used for stretching of the user's lower lateral rotation muscles.
Apparatus reducing compensatory leg, ankle and foot movements during heel raise exercises in rehabilitation and fitness
Portable blocks of high density, closed cell foam each with a different height, in progression from shortest to tallest. The taller blocks have tops divided in half width-wise, creating an upper and lower surface. As such, a user engages the blocks with a foot of the user straddling the upper half and the lower half; wherein upon a heel raise of the user upon the block, plantar and dorsiflexion movement is achieved substantially devoid of pronation and supination.
