METHODS, SYSTEMS AND DEVICES FOR ATTACHING SURGICAL SUTURES TO SURGICAL NEEDLES AND TESTING ARMED SURGICAL NEEDLES
A method of attaching a surgical suture to a needle and testing the attachment includes dispensing a length of suture from a spool by using a first suture gripper, and using a surgical needle gripper for holding a surgical needle stationary. A leading end of the suture is inserted into and attached to a receiving end of the surgical needle. A second suture gripper is located between the first suture gripper and the spool. After the second suture gripper is closed for gripping the suture, the second suture gripper is advanced downstream toward the surgical needle to reduce the tension on the suture. The tension on the suture is reduced by moving the second suture gripper a pre-determined distance. The first suture gripper is opened for releasing the suture and the first suture gripper is moved toward the suture spool for re-grasping the suture at a location between the second gripper and the suture spool. The suture between the downstream side of the re-positioned first suture gripper and upstream side of the second suture gripper is cut. After the suture is cut, the second suture gripper is displaced toward the spool using a tension control system to increase the tension level between the needle and the second suture gripper.
VIBRATIONAL CATHETER DEVICES AND METHODS FOR MAKING SAME
A method for making a vibrational catheter device includes providing a transition connector comprising a proximal portion, a distal portion, and a tapered portion that defines a tapered outer surface of the transition connector, the proximal portion being wider than the distal portion, and the transition connector having a bore disposed within the tapered portion; inserting a proximal end of an ultrasound transmission member into the bore; and deforming at least part of the transition connector at the tapered outer surface so as to apply greater force to the wider proximal portion than to the distal portion to secure the proximal end of the ultrasound transmission member within the bore.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A STEERING SHAFT PART AND STEERING SHAFT FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE
A method may be utilized to produce a steering spindle part configured as a hollow shaft and having a connecting portion at its end. At least a part of the connecting portion includes increased wall thickness relative to a portion of the steering spindle part adjoining the connecting portion. The method may involve providing a circular, hollow cylindrical tube with an inner surface that is smooth in a circumferential direction, providing a circular, hollow cylindrical sleeve with an outer surface that is smooth in a circumferential direction, inserting the sleeve into an end portion of the tube, and jointly deforming the end portion of the tube and the sleeve such that a flow of material occurs. This flow may form positively locking elements on the tube and the sleeve that engage into one another in the circumferential direction and generate positive locking in the circumferential direction.
TELESCOPIC STEERING SHAFT WITH A PULL-OUT SAFEGUARD
A steering shaft having an outer shaft and an inner shaft accommodated therein in a torque-locking, axially displaceable manner and an axial inner stop which projects radially outwards from an outer face of the inner shaft. When the inner shaft is pulled out of the outer shaft, the axial inner stop strikes against an axial outer stop projecting radially inwards from an inner face of the outer shaft, wherein the axial displacement of the inner shaft is limited in the pull-out direction. With regard to simple production of the outer stops with the least possible deformation of the entire cross section of the outer shaft, the outer stop is introduced by at least one forming process into an end portion of the outer shaft, wherein the axis of the direction of introduction in each case forms an angle of more than 20 with the radial direction of the outer shaft.
Vibrational catheter devices and methods for making same
A vibrational catheter for disrupting obstructions in lumens such as blood vessels includes an elongate flexible catheter body having a proximal end, a distal end and at least one lumen extending longitudinally therethrough, a vibrational transmission member extending longitudinally through the lumen of the catheter body and having a proximal end and a distal end, and a transition connector attached to the proximal end of the vibrational transmission member for coupling the transmission member with a vibrational energy source. The transition connector includes a bore into which the proximal end of the vibrational transmission member extends. The proximal end of the vibrational transmission member is attached within the bore of the transition connector with variable attachment forces such that the transition connector exerts a lowest amount of attachment force on an attached distal-most portion of the vibrational transmission member housed within the bore.

LASER PROBE TIP
A probe tip for communicating and laterally directing electromagnetic radiation comprises a waveguide, a primary capsule, a compressible member and a malleable secondary capsule. The waveguide is configured to communicate electromagnetic radiation and includes a beveled surface at a distal tip for redirecting electromagnetic radiation in a lateral direction. The primary capsule is attached over the distal tip of the waveguide. The compressible member covers a portion of the primary capsule. The malleable secondary capsule is positioned over the primary capsule and the compressible member, and includes a crimp that compresses the compressible member against the primary capsule and secures the secondary capsule to the primary capsule.
Pressing jaw, method for producing a non-detachable pipe joint, fitting and system consisting of a pressing jaw and a fitting
A cheek plate for producing a non-detachable pipe joint having an upper cheek half and a lower cheek half, at least one swivel pin which pivotally mounts at least one cheek half, and a receiving region formed between the upper cheek half and the lower cheek half and having a receiving region axis, the at least one cheek half being able to pivot between an open position and a closed position substantially transversely with respect to the receiving region axis. The problem of providing a cheek plate such that the cheek plate permits pressing transverse to the receiving region axis and at the same time a reduction in workpiece size is permitted is solved in that at least one pushing unit is provided, the pushing unit being displaceable at least partially in parallel with the receiving region axis.
