System and method for multi-stage crimping and stripping
A system for multi-stage crimping of a contact to a wire includes a first crimping die having a first portion of a selected shape defined therein, and a second crimping die having a complementary second portion of the selected shape defined therein. The system also includes the first and second crimping dies being operable to be displaced towards each other and along a first axis during a compression stroke. The first and second crimping dies are also operable to be displaced along a second axis during a closing stroke subsequent to the compression stroke, where the second axis is generally perpendicular to the first axis. In addition, the system includes the first and second crimping dies cooperating to crimp the contact into the selected shape to the wire upon completion of the closing stroke.
Cable end holding device for holding a cable end of a cable, method for positioning a cable end of a cable, and cable assembly machine for assembling a cable
A cable end holding device for holding a cable end of a cable for a crimp process includes a cable holding element for holding the cable end and a vertical position alteration device having two lever elements for altering the vertical position of the cable holding element in a manner decoupled from a movement of a stamp during the crimp process. The lever elements extend mutually parallel along a longitudinal direction of the lever elements and are arranged mutually offset in height and in a width direction perpendicular to the vertical and perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. The lever elements each are rotatably mounted about a first axis of rotation extending along the width direction, the two first axes of rotation extending mutually parallel.
COMPRESSION TOOL WITH BIASING MEMBER
An assembly comprises a compression member configured to receive a force input from a compression tool and a frame including a cradle at one end, an end fitting at the other, and at least one structural member linking the cradle to the end fitting. The cradle is configured to engage one end of the connector and receives the prepared end of the coaxial cable. The end fitting is configured to detachably connect the frame to the compression tool and includes an aperture for receiving the force input from the compression tool. The structural member defines at least one surface configured to guide the compression member along the axis in response to the force input. The compression member imposes an axial force on the other end of the connector and is guided along the axis by the guide surface of the frame.
DIELESS CRIMP HEAD WITH POSITIONING DEVICES FOR CRIMP CONNECTORS
A dieless crimp head is provided that includes a frame, an indentor, and a first positioning device. The frame has a first frame shell and a second frame shell, which define a frame opening. The indentor converges on a crimp center within the frame opening. The first positioning device has a connector slot defining a connector receipt area. The first positioning device is removably secured in the frame opening of the first frame shell at a use position in which the connector receipt area and the crimp center are aligned with, but offset along, a longitudinal axis of the crimp head.
TERMINAL CRIMPING DEVICE AND TERMINAL CRIMPING METHOD
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a terminal crimping device and a terminal crimping method which provide improved machining quality. A terminal crimping device is configured to crimp-connect, to an electric wire, each of a pair of adjacent terminals of a plurality of terminals coupled to each other by a carrier, the carrier having a terminal connection section connected to each terminal and a coupling section coupling adjacent terminal connection sections, the terminal crimping device including a carrier cutting unit configured to cut the coupling section, a terminal positioning unit configured to position one terminal of the pair of terminals such that the one terminal is located close to another terminal of the pair of terminals, and crimp dies configured as a pair to crimp-connect each terminal to the electric wire.
Crimping tool with wireless communication system
A crimping tool, configured to crimp an electrical connector onto a conductor, includes a crimping body having an interior volume, a crimping head connected to the crimping body, a user interface installed on the crimping body, an identification tag reader provided in the crimping tool, a wireless module installed within the interior volume of the crimping body, and a microcontroller installed within the interior volume of the crimping body. The wireless module transmits/receives crimp connection data to/from a remote computing device, which is capable of communicating with one or more databases in a server. The microcontroller is configured to communicate with the identification tag reader and the wireless module.
Method for Installing a Pulling Head Assembly
A workstation and method for the installation of a pulling head assembly onto one or more conductors of a cabling system are provided. The workstation incorporates one or more of: a conductor clamp that holds the conductors of the cabling system in place during the installation of the pulling head assembly; a cutting guide having indicia marks that indicate the lengths to which to cut the conductors in order to achieve a staggered pattern of pulling eyes attached to the conductors in the pulling head assembly; a stripping tool that is used to remove a portion of the insulation from the terminal end of each conductor so that the end of the conductor may be inserted into the pulling eye; and a crimping tool that is used to crimp the pulling eyes onto the terminal ends of each of the conductors.
