The user interface may include three user operated buttons which may be arranged in a triangular configuration, each of the three user operated buttons may be disposed at a vertex of the triangle.

The haircare appliance includes a processing element, at least one light emitting element emitting at least two wavelengths, and a sensor element, wherein the light emitting element is adapted to irradiate a portion of hair to be treated. The sensor element is adapted to receive a sensor reading from an acquisition region of the irradiated hair and generate a sensor signal dependent on the sensor reading, and includes a spectral sensor element. The processing element is adapted to determine a moisture content of at least the irradiated portion of the hair from the sensor signal.

The curl portion is opposite to the enclosure portion and has a second end. The enclosure portion can be inverted over to encompass the curl portion such that the first end extends toward the second end of the curl portion. A heatless animal-styled hair curler provides an adjustable-length headband for fitting different-sized heads, two adjacent curling rods for wrapping hair, and an animal-themed exterior surface which mimics the look of an animal when worn in order to encourage use by a child or young adult.
