Experience-based peer recommendations

A system and method for providing peer recommendations in a network environment are provided. A set of activity data and user generated content (UGC) associated with the set of activity data may be stored in memory in a database. Such UGC may depict the activity. The set of activity data may be received regarding an activity that a user and at least one peer have participated in simultaneously on the network environment. Corresponding UGC may also be received. A user-peer indication may be identified based on identifying a peer with whom the user experienced a significant event during the activity. Such significant event may be based on one or more event factors. A peer recommendation may be generated based on the peer indication and such peer recommendation at least a portion of the UGC associated with the significant even may be provided to the user.

Methods and systems are provided for enabling a user of an online game to assemble a crew of additional crew members for accessing a content item after completing a goal with the crew. One example method includes sending, from the one or more servers to a client of a user, data for displaying a crew assembly dialog that includes a graphical user interface (GUI). The crew assembly dialog allowing the user to select crew members for assembling the crew for the online game. Sending, from the one or more servers in response to a selection made at the GUI, a help request directed to the at least one crew member for response from the at least one crew member. The method further includes assembling the crew based on the selection of the user for the at least one crew member and response of the at least one crew member to the help request. The assembling of the crew enables the user to make progress in the online game.

A system and method are described for managing the state of an online video game. A method includes initiating a new online video game in response to user input from a client device, the online video game being in a first state on a first server when initiated; executing the online video game on the server, thereby causing the online video game to enter a second state; pausing or terminating the online video game; determining differences between the first state and the second state and generating difference data containing the differences; transmitting the difference data over a network to a second server; and recreating the second state from the difference data and the first state in response to user input indicating that the user wishes to resume the online video game and in response to the second server being selected as the server on which to execute the video game.
