SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR ENDOSCOPIC IMAGING
20190142256 · 2019-05-16 ·

A portable endoscopic inspection system comprises an endoscope having a proximal end with a flanged eyepiece for observation and a distal end with a lens assembly for insertion into a region of interest. A light port transports incident light to the region of interest along an lighting pathway, and reflected light is transported along an imaging pathway from the lens assembly to the eyepiece. A wireless imaging unit comprises a light source which detachably couples to the light port for generating the incident light, and an imaging sensor for recording images of the reflected light from the eyepiece. The wireless imaging unit comprises a variable coupling system which mechanically couples the imaging sensor to the flanged eyepiece independent of the shape and/or size of the flange of the eyepiece.

Handheld surgical endoscope with detachable cannula

A handheld surgical endoscope has a disposable, single-use portion that includes a fluid hub and cannula, and a re-usable portion that includes a handle and display module. The distal tip includes LED illumination and an imaging module that feeds live video to the display module. The single-use and re-usable portions mate and un-mate with each other via physically separated mechanical and electrical connectors. The surgical endoscope is configured for operation by a single clinician in many procedures.

Electrical device power management

An electrical device includes a memory storing a value indicative the remaining available rated capacity of one or more batteries. The stored value is changed in use to reflect reducing capacity. The initial stored value is chosen so that there is a very high (e.g. >99.9%) confidence that the one or more batteries will provide at least the capacity indicated by the initial stored value. This reduces the chance of failure during emergency procedures. The one or more batteries may be integral to the electrical device. An override facility is provided.

MULTIFUNCTIONAL VISUAL ORAL CLEANING INSTRUMENT
20190105139 · 2019-04-11 ·

The present disclosure relates to a multifunctional visual oral cleaning instrument which includes multiple functions of a visual dental floss, and/or visual oral forceps, and/or a visual oral irrigator, and/or a visual toothbrush, and/or a detachable visual interdental brush, and the like. The dental floss, and/or oral forceps, and/or oral irrigator, and/or toothbrush, and/or interdental brush are/is connected with an oral viewer through a connecting mechanism. By using a smartphone or tablet computer, the dental floss, oral forceps, oral irrigator, toothbrush or interdental brush and the gap between teeth can be clearly seen, so that the tooth gaps can be conveniently cleaned and treated under direct vision during use, and the cleaning effect of the tooth gaps can be viewed and recorded in real time.

Curing dental material using lights affixed to an intraoral mirror, and applications thereof

Disclosed embodiments integrate a camera into an intraoral mirror. Integrating a camera into an intraoral mirror provides an efficient way to record and display what is visible to the healthcare provider in the mirror.

Digital-based medical devices

A hand-held medical device includes a housing, an electronic imager, and an optical system aligned with the electronic imager along an imaging axis of the device. An illumination system includes at least one light source for directing light towards a target of interest, as well as a display connected to the electronic imager and attached to the housing. A processor, disposed within the housing, is connected to the electronic imager, the illumination assembly and the display, and includes processing logic and data storage for storing a plurality of images.

Power Source Control for Medical Capsules
20190069758 · 2019-03-07 · ·

A power source apparatus and a system incorporating said power source for medical capsules are disclosed. A medical capsule often includes a power source sealed in a housing. Embodiments of the present invention allow the medical capsule to enable/disable electrical power supplied to a sub-system in the capsule device without special tools and/or skills after the medical capsule is manufactured. In one embodiment, the power source apparatus comprises a plunger responsive to a magnetic field, a spring to interact with the plunger, a battery and a control piece. The plunger is moved between first and second positions according to a magnetic field applied externally. Accordingly, the control piece enables or disables the power depending on the plunger positions. In another embodiment, a capsule system uses an electrical interconnect with pressure contacts between the power source and the capsule sub-system connecting the second circuit board to the power-output nodes.

VIBRATING DENTAL MIRROR
20190069771 · 2019-03-07 ·

A vibrating dental device, including: an elongated handle, wherein the handle further includes a vibrator configured to generate vibrations with at least one desired vibration parameter; an attachment piece connected to the vibrator, wherein an end of the attachment piece is sized and shaped to be placed in contact with a deformable soft tissue of a mouth at a contact site; a driving circuitry within the elongated handle electrically connected to the vibrator, wherein the driving circuitry delivers electricity to the vibrator to vibrate the attachment piece with at least one vibration parameter selected to reduce sensitivity to pain at a different target site from the contact site, while the attachment piece is in contact with the deformable soft tissue at the contact site.
