IMPROVEMENTS IN NEEDLE HOLDERS
20200221989 · 2020-07-16 ·

When drawing blood, it is useful to always have the needle in a bevel up position but this cannot be guaranteed using conventional syringe barrel/needle assemblies. This problem is solved by providing a needle holder having a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end being provided with means adapted to secure an integral screw-threaded hub of a needle or a double ended needle, wherein the means comprises a circular wall defining a bore through the proximal end of the needle holder, the wall incorporating a pair of opposed helical ledges, the path of each respective ledge spanning up to half the circumference of the bore, the incline of each ledge being so arranged on the wall as to permit complementary mating contact with a screw-threaded hub of a needle or a double ended needle.

ARTERIAL SYRINGE ASSEMBLY
20200046276 · 2020-02-13 ·

An arterial syringe assembly is disclosed. The assembly includes a housing with a proximal end that may couple with a syringe barrel and a distal end that may couple with a needle. A needle cover is coupled with the housing at a hinge that may rotate to position the needle cover relative to the needle and may rotate to an orientation aligned with the needle such that the needle is within the needle cover. A needle plug is coupled to the needle cover at a distal end of the needle cover and may include plug material. The needle plug may slide axially relative to the needle to advance the needle plug at a distal end of the needle. A hydrophobic filter is positioned within the syringe barrel to evacuate air through a proximal end of the syringe barrel after the needle tip extends within the plug material.

Needle protection device and safety needle assembly
10537687 · 2020-01-21 · ·

A needle protection device and a safety needle assembly are described. The needle protection device comprises a connecting portion and a protection arm rotatable relative to the connecting portion. A pair of holding members are respectively formed on a proximal end portion of the protection arm and the connecting portion and configured to engage with each other in an unretreatable manner. A pair of positioning arms are respectively formed on the proximal end portion of the protection arm and the connecting portion and formed with at least one pair of complementary snap-fitting features. The paired snap-fitting features are configured to engage each other in a separable manner. The needle protection device and the safety needle assembly not only reliably prevents medical instruments from incurring accidental needle-sticks after use and ensures such medical instruments disposable, but also exhibits a simple structure and low costs.

Diagnostic device

An improved diagnostic analyte monitoring device has partially retractable hollow guide needles for the intradermal placement of diagnostic elements fixedly connected to measuring means within this device obviating the need to remove the guide needle and to connect the diagnostic elements to measuring means after placement into the skin. A flexible surface adhering to the skin serves for the subcutaneous implantation of the diagnostic elements within the guide needles and partial retraction of the guide needles exposes the active surface to body fluid, actuated by means designed for easy handling and safe operation. Concentration-time profiles of endogenous and exogenous analytes measured with the device are used to improve drug treatment modalities on an individualized basis.

Blood collection assembly having a hinged shield

A needle assembly includes a housing having proximal and distal ends, an IV cannula projecting distally from the housing, and an IV shield having an engagement. The housing has a shield seat and the IV cannula has a distal tip. The IV shield has a pre-use position where the IV shield covers the distal tip of the IV cannula and the engagement is disengaged from the shield seat, and a use position where the engagement is engaged with the shield seat and the IV shield is adapted to move between a non-shielded position, in which the distal tip is exposed, and a shielded position, in which the distal tip is shielded by the IV shield.

Microperfusion needle or fistula needle with protective element

A microperfusion needle or fistula needle with a protective element comprises a first component comprising a cannula, a body rigidly joined to the cannula, and having grasping wings extending therefrom, a second component comprising an elongate body having a cavity for slidably receiving the first component between an operating position of the cannula and a safety position of the cannula, the elongate body having lateral slots for the grasping wings to extend therethrough, the grasping wings being suitable for elastically bending around and contacting opposed portions of the elongate body. The elongate body comprises two arrays of projections, which are contacted by the wings when bent. Opposed pairs of projections are designed to contact and mechanically interfere with the grasping wings when bent.

Apparatus comprising a lancet

An apparatus comprises a housing, a testing member rotatably mounted in the housing, a lancet protruding from an edge of the testing member and having a piercing end, and a cover configured to cover at least the piercing end of the lancet and to be displaced from the piercing end of the lancet during actuation of the testing member.

Test strip device and related methods thereof

An electrochemical biosensor test strip device and compatible meter or processor for determining the amount of an analyte in a liquid sample received from a subject. The device may include: a substrate having a liquid sampling end and an electrical contact end; a circuit disposed in communication with the substrate; a reaction area formed at the liquid sampling end of the substrate; and a lancet having a pointed end and an opposite end, whereby the opposite end of the lancet is disposed in communication with the substrate and located at the reaction area. The device may also include an interface area that may be separate or integrated as part the reaction area (or the reaction area may be integrated with interaction area).
