PROPERTIES MEASUREMENT DEVICE
An intra-oral optical scanning method for intra-oral optical scanning including projecting a pattern, the pattern including at least a first area illuminated by a first color of light and a second area illuminated by a second color of light and at least one non-illuminated area onto an intra-oral feature, making a first image of the first area, the second area and the non-illuminated area differentiating between the first color of light and the second color of light in the first image of the projected pattern, and determining from the image of the non-illuminated area at least one of an ambient light level, a level of scattered light, a level of light absorption and a level of light reflected from at least one of the first area and the second area. Related apparatus and methods are also described.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF GINGIVAL BLOOD FLOW
Disclosed herein are methods and apparatus for diagnosing a disease in the gingival region of an individual, comprising: quantitatively measuring blood flow or changes in blood flow in the gingival region of the individual, potentially comparing these data to that of a healthy subject, and diagnosing the disease based one of more of these quantities.
ORAL DATA COLLECTING DEVICE FOR DIAGNOSIS OR PROGNOSIS
An apparatus that monitors information associated with an oral cavity is provided, the apparatus comprising: a three-dimensional oral appliance; a data collection device having at least one sensor and/or hydrogel like material configured to sense the information associated with the oral cavity; an interface device cooperatively coupled to the data collection device, the interface device configured to transfer the information from the sensor device to a receiving device external to the oral cavity or the entire device is analyzed.
DUAL PURPOSE ORTHODONTIC APPLIANCE FOR ALIGNMENT, BRUXISM, AND SLEEP APNEA WITH SMART SENSORS AND CONTROL MODULE SYSTEM
A dual-purpose Oral Appliances having smart sensors and control module for treating sleep apnea and simultaneously straightening the teeth or reducing the bruxism or reducing the TMJ disorder are disclosed. The appliance contains upper and or lower teeth trays with or without air passageway. The appliance can be with or without external housing. The episodes of sleep apnea are reducing by one or combination of several mechanisms such as mandibular advancement (MAD), air stimulation by control of inhaled air flow bypassing the tongue and or micro-holes in air passageways, neuro/muscle electric stimulation of tongue and sleep position training. The sensors located inside or outside of the mouth, measure physiological and or biological and or chemical aspects of the patients. The sensors are connected to control module system consists of battery, microprocessor, and data transmission technologies.
System and method for providing mandibular advancement and sleep positional therapy
The present disclosure pertains to a system and method for providing mandibular advancement and sleep positional therapy to a user for a sleep session. The system is formed by a mandibular advancement device for treating obstructive sleep disordered breathing (e.g., obstructive sleep apnea and snoring) that includes an electronics module configured to aid in sleep positional training. The present system and method facilitate advancing a lower jaw of the user into a protruding position relative to an upper jaw of the user to increase a size of an airway of the user, determining whether a posture of the user has breached a posture threshold, and, responsive to a breach, prompting the user to change posture such that the posture of the user no longer breaches the posture threshold.
Oral data collection device
The present disclosure provides an oral data collection device comprising a mouthguard and at least two sensors, a medical analytics system comprising the device, and methods of using the device and system to provide a personalized treatment protocol, stage a health condition, measure a response to therapy, phenotype for selection to participate in drug trials, measure stability of an anatomical structure, or predict a rate of change of a health condition in a subject in need thereof.
Auxiliary component for an equipment for cardiac autonomic neuropathy test and equipment that includes such a component
Equipment for carrying out cardiac autonomic neuropathy tests includes a base unit to which a mouthpiece is connected, forming an autonomous system for measuring the pressure and/or the pattern of breath, provided with a series of LEDs aimed at informing a patient, who is undergoing the test, about correctness or incorrectness of a test execution. The mouthpiece is provided with a flow sensor, aimed at measuring a patient's pattern of breath, and a pressure sensor. The mouthpiece includes also an atmospheric pressure sensor aimed at measuring the environmental pressure. The equipment includes also a sensor, aimed at measuring the heartbeat, applied by simple contact to the patient's wrist area, and an orthostatic measuring device aimed at measuring any change of the patient's position. Data can be introduced or analysed and the type of exam to do can be selected. Results of the tests can be stored in a memory.
Devices for treating bruxism
The present disclosure relates to devices that aid a user in ceasing bruxism. The devices may be placed between a user's teeth, such as during sleep, and alert the user when the user clenches his/her teeth. In an aspect, a device includes a housing containing a battery power source, a vibration device, and an electrical contact mechanism having a movable element which closes a circuit to actuate the vibration device. A disk-shaped portion adapted to be emplaced in a person's mouth between a cheek and adjacent teeth is disposed around the housing. A resilient bite portion extends from the housing and is adapted to be emplaced between upper and lower teeth. A compressible element is disposed in the bite portion and causes the movable element of the electrical contact to close to actuate the vibration device in response to compression of the bite portion.
AN ORAL-MOTOR MODULAR TRAINING SYSTEM
The present invention relates to a modular oral motor training system adapted to operate with multiple electromechanical training devices to strengthen the oral musculature, and improve the oral motor and breathe control, thereby improving the speech fluency and pronunciation of persons challenged with speech disorders. The system comprises a base unit adapted to receive one or more replaceable functional training devices, wherein the base unit comprises an electromechanical port through which it supplies electrical power and receives performance level data to/from the one or more functional training devices, according to which the base unit delivers performance feedback to a user of the system.
TREATMENT OF OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA (OSA)
A system for treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is described. The system includes an introducer needle having an elongated body. The introducer needle is configured to create an opening in a tongue of a patient for implantation of a lead for treating OSA. One or more electrically conductive areas are located on the elongated body. A medical device is configured to deliver a stimulation signal via the introducer needle through the one or more electrically conductive areas to the tongue of the patient to stimulate one or more motor points of a protrusor muscle within the tongue of the patient.
