Orthopaedic surgical instrumentation for performing a patellofemoral arthroplasty procedure
A method and instrumentation for performing a patellofemoral arthroplasty orthopaedic procedure includes coupling an anterior cutting block to a femur of a patient such that the cutting block references local anatomy of the femur. The anterior cutting block is used to perform a number of bone cuts to establish a trochlear cavity in the femur. The trochlear cavity is formed such that a trochlear prosthesis may be inset into the cavity and substantially flush with the surrounding cartilage. A finishing burring guide and burr bit may be used to detail the shape and/or size of the trochlear cavity. Additionally, a trochlear drill guide may be used to facilitate establishing peg holes in the patient's femur to receive corresponding pegs of the trochlear prosthesis.
SURGICAL GUIDANCE SYSTEM WITH VIRTUAL MODELS
A method includes generating an anatomical model corresponding to an anatomical feature of a patient, proposing a component for coupling to the anatomical feature of the patient, positioning a virtual model corresponding to the component in a proposed location relative to the anatomical model, generating a planned resection geometry based on a virtual relationship between the virtual model and the anatomical model, tracking movement of a surgical instrument relative to the anatomical feature, and simultaneously displaying the planned resection geometry, the anatomical model, and a graphic corresponding to the surgical instrument on a display based in part on the tracked movement of the surgical instrument relative to the anatomical feature.
PATELLA PREPARATION SYSTEM
A patella preparation system and method of using a patella preparation system. The patella preparation system includes a fixing device adapted to fixedly hold a patella, a guiding device linked to the fixing device to be moveable relative to the fixing device, preferably by translatory and/or tilting movements/motions, and an operation device for manually moving the guiding device relative to the fixing device individually and separately in a translatory and a tilting manner.
SURGICAL GUIDANCE SYSTEM WITH ANATOMICAL FEATURE MOVEMENT DETECTION
A surgical system includes a robotic device configured to facilitate performance of a procedure and a computer system communicable with the robotic device. The computer system is programmed to associate a virtual object with an anatomical feature, adjust the virtual object associated with the anatomical feature in response to movement of the anatomical feature during the procedure by monitoring detected movement of the anatomical feature and adjusting the virtual object in response to the detected movement, and control the robotic device based on a relationship between at least one point associated with the robotic device and the virtual object during the procedure.

A surgical system includes a surgical tool, a tracking system configured to obtain tracking data indicative of positions of the surgical tool relative to an anatomical feature, an acoustic device, and a computer system programmed to control the acoustic device to provide acoustic feedback to a user based on the tracking data.
Arthroplasty apparatus and method
A femoral trial component (16) for attachment to a prepared distal surface of a femur, the femoral trial component comprising a first fastening point (20) for coupling the femoral trial component to a tibial cutting jig. The femoral trial component may further comprise a second fastening point (21) for coupling the trial component to a tibial cutting jig (25), the first and second fastening points being at a predetermined angle (e.g. substantially 90 degrees) to one another. Advantageously the trial component may also have a cut-out region (17) for accommodating an anterior cruciate ligament.
Universal femoral trial system and methods
Implant assemblies, systems, kits, and methods for replacing a knee joint may include a universal femoral trial component for preparing and trialing a femoral bone of a patient to receive a plurality of different femoral implant types. The universal femoral trial component may be configured to receive any of a plurality of femoral bone preparation attachments and any of a plurality of femoral trial attachments in order to facilitate the preparation and trialing of the femoral bone to receive the plurality of different femoral implant types.
Method and Apparatus for Treating Cranial Cruciate Ligament Disease in Canines
A surgical guidance system (SGS) for performing a cruciate pivot osteotomy in canines to treat cranial cruciate ligament disease. The SGS comprises a guide, a jig, and a plate. The guide is first placed over the tibia until it interacts with specific anatomical features of the tibia, thereby marking the proper position for the jig to be placed. After the jig has been secured, a blade defines an osteotomy within a proximal portion of the tibia. A portion of the jig is then cranially rotated providing a rotational correction of the proximal tibia. A compressive force is then applied to the osteotomy by the jig. Next the multiplane locking plate is placed over the osteotomy as dictated by the features of the jig. After initially securing the plate into its correct position, the jig is removed and the plate is then secured to the cranial surface of the tibia.
PATELLA CUTTING GUIDE
A guide is disclosed that operates to guide in the creation of a bone spur to facilitate harvesting a quadriceps tendon and includes an end having a width equal to a desired graft width with a terminal slope equal to a cutting angle desired. In use, the guide may be initially positioned parallel to the femur to form guide cuts in the patella. The guide is then rotated ninety degrees to allow an angled cut at the guide cut. The guide is again rotated, this time one hundred eighty degrees and a second angled cut made on the other guide cut. A final lateral cut is made and the bone spur may be lifted from the patella.
Patient-specific instrumentation for patellar resurfacing surgery and method
A system for creating a patient-specific jig model for patellar resurfacing surgery comprises a patellar implant positioning module for obtaining a planned position of a patellar implant on a model of the patella, the model being anatomically patient-specific. A patella resurfacing calculator module calculates a position and/or orientation of a resurfacing plane and attachment bore in the patella as a function of the planned position of the patellar implant. A jig model generator module for generates and outputs a virtual jig model using the resurfacing plane and attachment bore of the patella and the model of the patella, the jig model comprising at least one patient-specific contact surface corresponding to a surface of the patella for complementary contact, at least one drill guide positioned relative to the at least one patient-specific contact surface to be configured to guide a tool defining the attachment bore for the patellar implant, and at least one cut guide positioned relative to the at least one patient-specific contact surface to be configured to guide a tool in resurfacing the patella to form the planned resurfacing plane.
