Surgical clamp

Surgical devices and related methods are disclosed. An example end effector for a surgical device may include a first jaw, a second jaw, and an articulating mechanism operable to move the first jaw between an open position, an intermediate position, and a closed position. An example articulating mechanism may include a first jaw mount coupled to the first jaw so that movement of the first jaw mount along a path causes rotation and translation of the first jaw mount and the first jaw. A pivotably mounted crank may operably couple an actuator linkage to the first jaw mount so that moving the actuator linkage rotates the crank, and rotation of the crank may move the first jaw mount along the path.

Surgical clip applier with wide aperture surgical clips
11666342 · 2023-06-06 ·

An end effector for a surgical clip applier includes an elongate body, first and second jaw members extending out a distal end of the body, and a clip track provided within the body and containing one or more surgical clips, each surgical clip including a crown and a pair of legs extending longitudinally from the crown and diverging from each other at a diverging opening angle. A pre-forming region is defined by the first and second jaw members to receive and deform the one or more surgical clips from a first state, where the pair of legs diverge at the diverging opening angle, and a second state, where the diverging opening angle is minimized and the one or more surgical clips are prepared to be received by the first and second jaw members and crimped.

Force transmitting mechanism and instrument

A force transmitting mechanism includes: a force adjusting portion that is disposed between a joint portion of an instrument and a force generating portion and that receives force from the force generating portion; and a driving member that passes through the joint portion, that connects the end effector and the force adjusting portion, and that transmits the force applied from the force adjusting portions to the end effector, wherein, by means of displacement of the driving member associated with flexing or bending of the joint portion, the force adjusting portion increases the force transmission efficiency so that an amount of increase in the force transmission efficiency increases with an increase in a displacement amount of the driving member.

Surgical stapling devices with features for blocking advancement of a camming assembly of an incompatible cartridge installed therein

A surgical stapling instrument configured for use with a staple cartridge that contains a plurality of staples configured to be ejected therefrom by a camming assembly supported therein. The surgical stapling instrument includes a first jaw that is configured to removably support the surgical staple cartridge therein. A second jaw is movable relative to the first jaw between an open position and a closed position. A cartridge verification member is configured to block distal advancement of the camming assembly from the unfired position unless the cartridge verification member detects a verification feature on the staple cartridge.

Surgical instrument comprising firing member supports

A surgical instrument is disclosed comprising a shaft, an end effector rotatably coupled to the shaft about an articulation joint, and a firing system configured to be moved through the articulation joint and the end effector. The surgical instrument further comprises means configured to facilitate the movement of the firing system through the articulation joint and the end effector.

LAPROSCOPIC DEVICES AND METHODS OF USING

A number of improvements to laparoscopic devices are described herein, primarily to improve the ergonomic functionality of the devices. For example, an articulating rod system is described, a gripping mechanism is described, and an end effector is described.

SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS WITH ASYMMETRIC JAW ARRANGEMENTS AND SEPARATE CLOSURE AND FIRING SYSTEMS

A method for controlling a powered surgical stapler that includes an end effector with jaws that are movable between an open and a closed position and a firing member that is movable between a starting position and an ending position within the end effector. The jaws and firing member are controlled by separate rotary systems and the end effector includes a firing member lockout system that prevents axial movement of the firing member unless the surgical staple cartridge is in ready to fire condition.

Surgical instrument for grasping and cutting tissue

A surgical instrument for cutting and grasping tissue comprising a handle assembly, an elongated member and first and second jaws. A first movable member moves the second jaw in a first direction about a first pivot axis in a grasping action and a second movable member moves the second jaw in a second direction different than the first direction and about a second pivot axis in a cutting action. A switch is positioned at the proximal portion of the instrument and a selecting member is actuated by movement of the switch, the selecting member movable between a first position to enable movement of the second jaw in the first direction and prohibit movement in the second direction and a second position to enable movement of the second jaw in the second direction and prohibit movement in the first direction.

Surgical instrument comprising a shaft including a closure tube profile

A surgical instrument system comprising an elongate shaft is disclosed. The elongate shaft comprises a proximal end, a distal end, a proximal region, a central region, and a distal region. The proximal region comprises a first diameter. The central region comprises a second diameter. The distal region comprises a third diameter. The first diameter is different than the second diameter, and the second diameter is different than the third diameter. The proximal region defines a central longitudinal axis and the central region is centered along the central longitudinal axis. The distal region is laterally offset with respect to the central longitudinal axis.

HOLLOW GRASPERS
