External fixation
External fixation systems, and methods for immobilizing joints or fractured bones. An external fixation system may include one or more clamp assemblies connected to one or more rod assemblies at polyaxial joints. Each rod assembly may be length adjustable, and may include a one-way locking mechanism to provisionally lock the length of the rod assembly, and additional locking mechanisms to permanently lock the length of the rod assembly. The system may be deployed pre-assembled as a unit to immobilize a joint or fracture. Another external fixation system further includes a spanning member extending transverse to the rod assemblies. Two or more external fixation systems may be deployed in a stacked configuration on one set of bone pins to immobilize two joints and/or fractures. The systems may be provided in kits including guiding instrumentation, bone pins and pin clamping assemblies for connecting the bone pins to the external fixation systems.
Transosseous ribbon wire devices and a system and method for using the devices
Devices for use in performing external fixation orthopedic surgery are provided. More particularly, a specialized transosseous wire having a rectangular cross-section is provided. The specialized wire is installed using a reciprocating motion. Thereafter, the specialized transosseous wires are affixed to a frame. Methods of using the transosseous wire are also disclosed.
Preloaded medical struts
A medical device, comprising: a medical strut; a preloader configured to store energy, wherein the medical strut is configured to transform the energy stored in the preloader to a first force applicable to a bodily tissue; an actuator configured to apply a second force to adjust the length of the medical strut, thereby facilitating the transforming the stored energy to the first force; and a controller configured to control the actuator.
COUPLING DEVICE FOR IN AN ORTHOPAEDIC SYSTEM
Coupling device for connecting an annular fixation member to a bone pin, wherein the coupling device comprises pin connecting means arranged for connecting the bone pin to the coupling device and ring connecting means arranged for removably connecting the annular fixation member to the coupling device, wherein the coupling device further comprises fixator connecting means arranged for removably connecting a fixator to the coupling device, wherein the ring connecting means and the fixator connecting means are arranged for simultaneously connecting the annular fixation member and the fixator while the pin connecting means are connected to the bone pin.
External Fixator Apparatus & Method
An improved external fixator assembly for fixating fractures that includes a proximal frame assembly, a distal frame assembly and a polyaxial joint. The polyaxial joint comprises articulating components that engage to have multi-axial or polyaxial translational motion to allow for distraction/reduction and adjustment of flexion/extension, radial/ulnar deviation, pronation/supination of the wrist to an optimal wrist position. The polyaxial joint may be lockable. Fixation screws are also provided for engaging the patient's bone tissue on opposite sides of a fracture.
Fixation device
A fixation device comprises a first body having a threaded end, a longitudinal axis, and a bore perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. A second body is received in the bore. The second body has an exterior thread and an interior passage for receiving a pin or wire. The second body has a wire locking device for retaining the pin or wire. An advance nut engages the exterior thread. The advance nut abuts the first body for moving the wire locking device away from the first body when the advance nut is turned, for tensioning the pin or wire.

Anchoring group for an external fixator
An anchoring group (20) for an external fixator (1), comprising: a connecting body (11) designed to be coupled to a bar (2) of an external fixator (1), said connecting body (11) being crossed by a median plane (M); a first locking device (10) for locking first unicortical pins and connected to the connecting body (11), said first locking device (10) comprising at least one seat; and a second locking device (10) for locking second unicortical pins and also connected to the connecting body (11), said second locking device (10) comprising at least one auxiliary seat, which is not aligned with the at least one seat of the first locking device (10), said first and second locking devices (10) extending from different side of said median plane (M), wherein the connecting body (11) has at least two fastening seats (110a, 110b) for each the first and the second locking devices (10) so as to allow at least two alternative mounting configurations from each side with respect to the median plane (M) of the connecting body (11).
CLAMPING DEVICE FOR USE WITH AN ANATOMIC EXTERNAL FIXATION DEVICE
A clamping device includes a clamp body and a locking assembly. The clamp body includes a first jaw defining a first opening and a second jaw defining a second opening. The locking assembly includes a first locking element, a second locking element, and a lever. The first locking element includes a first end and a shaft portion extending from the first end. The shaft portion is sized to pass through the first opening and the second opening. The locking assembly is configured to reduce a distance between the first jaw and the second jaw responsive to rotation of the second locking element. The lever is configured to attach to the second locking element and rotate about the second locking element from a first position to a second position to cause the distance between the first jaw and the second jaw to be reduced further.
