Ankle fusion system with expandable spacer
System, including apparatus and methods, for ankle fusion using a device for separating a first bone and a second bone of an ankle region. In some embodiments, the device may comprise an expandable spacer including first and second bone-contacting surface regions facing away from one another and configured to be abutted with the first and second bones, respectively. A distance between the first and second bone-contacting surface regions may be adjustable to change the separation of the first and second bones. The first bone-contacting surface region may correspond to a portion of a sphere and may be configured to be disposed at least partially in a concavity formed surgically in the first bone. The expandable spacer offers improved control over the length of the lower limb and the orientation of the foot during ankle fusion surgery.
Adjustable devices for treating arthritis of the knee
A system, and method of using the system, for changing the angle of a bone of a subject is provided by the present disclosure. In one embodiment the system includes a non-invasively adjustable implant configured to be placed inside a longitudinal cavity within the bone and comprising an outer housing and an inner shaft telescopically disposed in the outer housing, at least one of the outer housing and inner shaft associated with a first anchor hole and a second anchor hole, the first anchor hole configured to pass a first anchor for coupling the adjustable implant to a first portion of bone and the second anchor hole configured for to pass a second anchor for coupling the adjustable implant to the first portion of bone, the inner shaft configured to couple to a second portion of bone that is separated or separable from the first portion of bone, such that non-invasive elongation of the adjustable implant causes the inner shaft to extend from the outer housing and to move the first portion of bone and the second portion of bone apart angularly; a driving element configured to be remotely operable to telescopically displace the inner shaft in relation to the outer housing; and wherein the first anchor hole is configured to allow the first anchor to pivot in at least a first angular direction and the second anchor hole is configured to allow the second anchor to translate in at least a first translation direction.
HYDRAULIC GROWING ROD
A bone implant system may include a plurality of bone anchors, a superior rod attachable to a superior portion of a bone via the bone anchors, and an inferior rod attachable to an inferior portion of the bone via the bone anchors. The superior rod may have a superior end, and the inferior rod may have an inferior end. The superior rod may telescopically engage the inferior rod such that a cavity is present within at least one of the superior rod and the inferior rod and such that a length of the combined superior and inferior rods, measured between the superior end and the inferior end, is adjustable. The cavity may contain a micropump and a chamber. The micropump may be configured to expel fluid into the chamber to urge the length to increase.
EXTRACORPOREALLY LENGTH-ADJUSTABLE IMPLANT SYSTEM, AND LENGTH-ADJUSTABLE IMPLANT COMPONENT
An extracorporeally length-adjustable implant system comprises an implant component to be fastened to a bone to be lengthened and an adjustment device with two fastening parts that are displaceable relative to one another, each of which is intended for arrangement at a part of the bone to be lengthened, wherein the adjustment device is able to distract the two fastening parts and comprises a drive element with a permanent magnet arranged in rotationally fashion and a mechanism which converts a rotational movement of the permanent magnet into a distracting longitudinal movement of the adjustment device; and an extracorporeal drive unit for the drive element of the implant component. The extracorporeal drive unit comprises a rotatably mounted extracorporeal magnetic ring with an interior to receive the bone to be lengthened with the adjustment device, and an actuation device to rotate the extracorporeal magnetic ring in the ring plane thereof.
Orthopedic Growing Devices
An expandable rod system includes a first rod portion having an internal cavity, a second rod portion sealingly positioned within the internal cavity of the first rod portion and moveable in a first axial direction relative to the first rod portion, and an osmotic chamber for receiving an osmotic agent to facilitate movement of the second rod portion to expand the rod system. The rod system includes a lock assembly engageable with the second rod portion to prevent the second rod portion from moving in a second axial direction. The lock assembly includes a tapered ramped portion and a bearing member that is moveable within the tapered ramped portion such that when compression forces are imparted on the second rod portion, the bearing member becomes wedged in the tapered ramped portion.
ORTHOPEDIC CABLE BONE TRANSPORT DEVICE AND BONE TRANSPORT SYSTEM COMPRISING SAID DEVICE
The present invention relates to a cable pulling device (1) for orthopedic bone transport, comprising: a main body (2); a worm gear mechanism (4) disposed in the main body (2), and a reel (8) set into rotation by the worm gear mechanism (4) and meant to wind up a cable which is secured to a transport bone segment.
Non-invasive adjustable distraction system
A spinal distraction system includes a distraction rod having a first end and a second end, the first end being configured for affixation to a subject's spine at a first location, the distraction rod having a second end containing a recess having a threaded portion disposed therein. The system further includes an adjustable portion configured for affixation relative to the subject's spine at a second location remote from the first location, the adjustable portion comprising a housing containing a magnetic assembly, the magnetic assembly affixed at one end thereof to a lead screw, the lead screw operatively coupled to the threaded portion. A locking pin may secure the lead screw to the magnetic assembly. An o-ring gland disposed on the end of the housing may form a dynamic seal with the distraction rod.
ADJUSTABLE DEVICES FOR TREATING ARTHRITIS OF THE KNEE
Systems and related methods for changing the angle of a bone of a subject is provided by the present disclosure. The system may include a non-invasively adjustable implant configured to be placed inside a cavity within the bone. The non-invasively adjustable implant may couple to a first portion of bone and a second portion of bone that is separated or separable from the first portion of bone, such that non-invasive elongation of the adjustable implant causes movement of the first portion of bone and the second portion of bone apart angularly. The system may include an anchor configured to couple the non-invasively adjustable implant to bone. The non-invasively adjustable implant may include an anchor hole configured to receive the anchor therein.
ADJUSTABLE IMPLANT WITH ADVANCED SEALING AND RETENTION
Various implementations include an adjustable implant such as a distraction/compression device. In certain cases, the adjustable implant can include a housing; an adjustable member at least partially positioned within the housing and configured to translate relative to the housing; and an intermediary member positioned between the housing and the adjustable member.
