K-wire implants for fractures
A variety of K-wires with imbedded plates are disclosed that allow for the plate in K-wire to be secured to the bone after insertion. Further, a donut shaped washer for capturing and securing the K-wire is disclosed. Also, a screw with a channel is disclosed that has a head shaped to capture and secure the K-wire. Finally, embodiments of a slotted washer are disclosed that captures and secures the K-wire.
Compression nut, a system and a method for treating a bone
A compression nut for treating a bone includes a head and a body extending longitudinally from the head to a free end. The body includes an exterior threading along an exterior surface of a threaded portion of the body separated from the head via an unthreaded portion. The nut also includes a channel extending longitudinally through the body. The channel includes an interior threaded extending along an interior surface of the channel configured to threadedly engage an end of a locking screw received therein.
FIXATION SYSTEM BETWEEN A MEDICAL DEVICE AND AT LEAST ONE PORTION OF A BONE
The invention relates to a fixation system between a medical device and at least one portion of a bone, characterised in that it comprises an elongate portion intended to be inserted into the bone, in particular into the medullary cavity and/or into the proximal or distal ends, the elongate portion having a wall consisting of meshes through which at least one fixing member can pass, according to a position and orientation that are not predefined, and which apply, by elastic, plastic or elastic-plastic deformation, a transverse and/or axial pressure force onto the fixing member, the fixing member being intended to also pass through the portion of the bone in order to ensure rigid fixation between the bone and the medical device.
Convertible intramedullary femoral nail and use thereof for management of metastatic cancer to bone
Described herein is an intramedullary femoral nail implant. The implant can be more easily converted to a load bearing hip replacement. Fixation of the intramedullary nail may be enhanced by injection of cement. Disclosed devices may be preferable to other types of intramedullary nails at the time of the first procedure given their characteristics of improved fixation, stability, and flexibility for potential conversion via a less complex operation.
Surgical systems and methods for assembling and fusing bones
A surgical system for use in correcting hammer toe or otherwise straightening toes or fusing other bones to one another includes a male drill bit and a female drill bit, as well as an absorbable pin. The male and female drill bits are configured to define complementary features from opposed, or facing, ends of bones that are to be fused to one another. The male and female drill bits may also be configured to define channels through the lengths of the bones that are to be fused to one another, with the channels being configured to align and define a continuous channel through the bones when they are assembled. The absorbable pin, which may be absorbed by a subject's body over time, is configured to be positioned in the continuous channel, and may hold the bones in an assembled relationship before and while they fuse to one another.
Implant and method for long bone fixation
An implant and method for fixation of long bones. The implant provides rotational, longitudinal, and bending stability. The implant comprises one or more elongated members that span the intramedullary cavity of a long bone, a distal tip that expands radially relative to the long axis of the implant, and a locking mechanism at the proximal end of the implant.
FLEXIBLE INTRAMEDULLARY NAIL
A surgical nail includes a nail body that includes a proximal end, an elongate intermediate portion comprising an intermediate flexible portion, and a distal end. The proximal end includes a proximal head portion and is configured to couple to a washer. The proximal end and the distal end are coupled and offset from one another by the elongate intermediate portion. The intermediate flexible portion comprises at least two cables bonded one to another and configured to maintain a fixed length. The proximal portion and the threaded end portion can be coupled together by the intermediate flexible portion as a unitary, integrated element prior to any use of the surgical nail in an implant procedure. The intermediate flexible portion is configured to permit the proximal portion to bend at an angle relative to the distal portion as a unitary, integrated element.
ADJUSTABLE DEVICES FOR TREATING ARTHRITIS OF THE KNEE
Systems and related methods for changing the angle of a bone of a subject is provided by the present disclosure. The system may include a non-invasively adjustable implant configured to be placed inside a cavity within the bone. The non-invasively adjustable implant may couple to a first portion of bone and a second portion of bone that is separated or separable from the first portion of bone, such that non-invasive elongation of the adjustable implant causes movement of the first portion of bone and the second portion of bone apart angularly. The system may include an anchor configured to couple the non-invasively adjustable implant to bone. The non-invasively adjustable implant may include an anchor hole configured to receive the anchor therein.
Bone fixation system and method of use
An apparatus includes: a member configured to be received within an intramedullary canal of a fibula, the member having an opening therethrough; a bone plate including a first bone-engaging surface; a flexible elongate element having a first portion, a second portion, and a third portion, at least the second and third portions being sized to extend through the opening of the member, wherein the second portion is movable by bending of the flexible elongate element between an insertion position and a bone-engaging position, wherein the second portion is configured to extend through the opening of the member while the second portion is in the insertion position, and wherein the second portion includes a second bone-engaging surface while the second portion is in the bone-engaging position; and a coupling structure for operatively coupling the bone plate to the first portion of the flexible elongate element.
Intramedullary device with compound fastener trajectories
An intramedullary device, having a first longitudinal axis extending between a proximal end and a distal end thereof, is provided. The intramedullary device may include a first bore and a second bore. The first bore may include a second longitudinal axis and may extend through the intramedullary device between a first opening and a second opening. The second longitudinal axis may define a first angle (θ1) with the first longitudinal axis. The second bore may include a third longitudinal axis and may extend through the intramedullary device between the first opening and a third opening. The third longitudinal axis may define a second angle (θ2) with the first longitudinal axis.
