Lapidus Screw Guide Assembly and Method of Insertion
A screw guide assembly includes a guide body extending along a central longitudinal axis. The guide body has a proximal end portion having an attachment face extending perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and a distal end portion having a screw support member extending away from the longitudinal axis. The screw support member is configured to allow for the insertion of a screw at an angle oblique relative to the longitudinal axis. A wire guide is removably inserted into the screw support member. A method of inserting a screw using the assembly is also disclosed.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS INCLUDING A SET OF CUTTING BURRS FOR PERFORMING AN OSTEOTOMY
Surgical instruments for performing osteotomies and particularly, wedge-shaped osteotomies, are disclosed herein. A surgical instrument includes a body with a distal end, a proximal end, a bottom surface, and a top surface including a slope extending upward and along a single plane from the distal end to the proximal end. The surgical instrument further includes multiple cutting burrs positioned on the top surface extending along the slope from the distal end to the proximal end and teeth positioned on the distal end. Further, the body tapers from the distal end to the proximal end. Other surgical instruments include a non-patterned set of cutting burrs along the slope from the distal end to the proximal end or the cutting burrs positioned in multiple rows or columns on the top surface along the slope from the distal end to the proximal end.
ORTHOPEDIC COMPRESSION PLATE AND METHOD OF SURGERY
An orthopedic plate has a first end including a locking screw hole that receives a locking screw and spaced from that hole is a closed compression housing that extends from the bone-facing side of the plate and which receives a compression screw that forms an angle of from about 10° to about 70° with a longitudinal axis of the plate. The compression housing is not located on the medial line of the plate, but is peripheral to the medial line, either in the longitudinal or the medial direction of the plate.
System and method for correcting scoliosis
A wedge has an outer perimeter and includes a top surface extending generally in a first plane and having a top osteointegration surface disposed thereon. A bottom surface extends in a second plane that extends obliquely with respect to the first plane. The first plane intersects the second plane outside the outer perimeter of the implant and includes a bottom osteointegration surface disposed thereon. A plurality of side surfaces extends between the top surface and the bottom surface and defines the outer perimeter, wherein at least a portion of the plurality of side surfaces is devoid of any osteointegration surface.
JOINT OSTEOTOMY SYSTEM AND METHOD
A system includes a first spacer sized and configured to be received within a resected bone space of a first bone and a second spacer sized and configured to be coupled to a second bone. The first spacer and the second spacer each include a body extending between a bone contacting surface and a coupling surface. At least one shim is positioned between the first and second spacers. The shim includes a body extending between a first coupling surface and a second coupling surface. The first spacer, the second spacer, and the at least one shim position the first and second bones in a predetermined alignment. An adjustable guide including a guide adapter and a guide body is configured to couple to the first spacer and is adjustable on a first axis.
JOINT OSTEOTOMY SYSTEM AND METHOD
A resection guide includes a first body portion and a second body portion. The first body portion has a first bone engagement structure and defines a first plurality of holes. The second body portion has a second bone engagement structure and defines a second plurality of holes. The first body portion and the second body portion are operable to separate a first anatomical structure of a patient and a second anatomical structure of the patient. A cutting guide defines at least one guide aperture that is operable for guiding a cutting tool for use in resecting a portion of the second anatomical structure of the patient. The cutting guide is positionable relative to the first body portion.
Surgical guide device for assisting an open wedge osteotomy
A surgical guide device can be attached to a patient's bone for assisting an open wedge osteotomy. This device includes two parts which are joined together by way of removable securing unit, namely: a proximal part, including a lower border defining at least one portion of the upper edge of a guide window, and a distal part having an upper edge defining at least one portion of the lower edge of the guide window. The proximal and distal parts are each provided with a plurality of through holes adapted for receiving members temporarily implantable in the bone and/or adapted to guide a drilling of holes in the bone. The arrangement of the through holes of the surgical guide device advantageously takes into account the planned open wedge osteotomy and anticipates the final position of the screw locations of the reported osteosynthesis plate for freezing the two bone fragments.
OSTEOTOMY GUIDE
An osteotomy guide (100,500,600) guides cutting of a bone (300). The guide (100,500,600) has an anterior end (106,506,606) and a posterior end (108,508,608) that are spaced from one another along a transverse direction. The guide (100,500,600) has an inner surface (102,502,602) that faces the bone (300), and an outer surface (104,504,604) opposite the inner surface (102,502,602) along an outer direction (D.sub.o). The guide (100,500,600) includes a transverse guide surface (138,538,638) that extends along a transverse axis (A.sub.T) along the transverse direction so as to define a transverse cutting path into the bone (300). The guide (100,500,600) includes an ascending guide surface (134,534,634) that extends along an ascending axis (A.sub.A) along an ascending direction so as to define an ascending cutting path into the bone (300). The transverse and ascending axes (A.sub.T,A.sub.A) intersect one another.
