Balloon catheter apparatus for renal neuromodulation

Methods and apparatus are provided for non-continuous circumferential treatment of a body lumen. Apparatus may be positioned within a body lumen of a patient and may deliver energy at a first lengthwise and angular position to create a less-than-full circumferential treatment zone at the first position. The apparatus also may deliver energy at one or more additional lengthwise and angular positions within the body lumen to create less-than-full circumferential treatment zone(s) at the one or more additional positions that are offset lengthwise and angularly from the first treatment zone. Superimposition of the first treatment zone and the one or more additional treatment zones defines a non-continuous circumferential treatment zone without formation of a continuous circumferential lesion. Various embodiments of methods and apparatus for achieving such non-continuous circumferential treatment are provided.

Device and methods for nerve modulation using a novel ablation catheter with polymeric ablative elements

The disclosure pertains to an intravascular catheter for nerve modulation, comprising an elongate member having a proximal end and a distal end, a balloon having a lumen and a balloon wall, the balloon wall comprising RF permeable sections and non-electrically conductive sections, an electrode disposed within the balloon and extending distally to the furthest distal RF permeable section. The RF permeable sections may comprise a plurality of RF permeable windows, each window having a greater circumferential dimension than an axial dimension. The intravascular system is suited for modulation of renal nerves.

Methods of manufacturing monophasic action potential mapping catheters

A method for manufacturing a distal portion of a mapping and/or ablation device with fewer components and manufacturing steps than are required for presently known devices. The method generally includes aligning one or more electrodes and electrode wires within a housing mold, overmolding a biocompatible material over the one or more wires and a portion of each of the one or more electrodes, creating a housing component that integrates a dome component and an insulation component. Alternatively, the method generally includes aligning one or more wires within a housing mold so that at least a portion of each wire protrudes from the mold, overmolding a biocompatible material over the one or more wires, thus creating a housing component that integrates a dome component and insulation component. The protruding wire portions are cleaved off and at least a portion of the housing component is coated with a layer of conductive material.

A system for treatment of patient tissue by delivery of high-voltage pulses comprising an ablation catheter, a measurement unit and an electronic control unit (ECU). The measurement unit is configured to perform measurements using an energy source, whereby the impedance and/or current measurement values are determined as response to an alternating voltage and/or at least one voltage pulse. The ECU is configured to receive and analyze said measurement values provided by the measurement unit and determine arcing risk (AR) indexes for said electrode pairs and/or a contact uniformity (CU) value based on said impedance measurement values and/or impedances for said electrodes and/or an impedance uniformity (IU) value based on said current measurement values.

The present application provides an electrode catheter system, comprising an interventional catheter for intervening to one side of an artery blood vessel and provided with an electrode element that can release an electrical signal toward an inner wall of a renal artery blood vessel; a pressure sensor for intervening to an artery blood vessel; and a data processing module, connected with the pressure sensor. The electrode element releases an electrical signal toward the inner wall of the renal artery vessel, and then the pressure sensor monitors a blood pressure change in the renal artery vessel at the other side. A data processing module processes the data monitored by the pressure sensor and determines the blood pressure change, and an activity degree of the nerve can be determined by measuring a signal such as the blood pressure of the human body, so as to screen out the patients with an overactive sympathetic nerve, and a surgical effect of a denervation surgery can also be evaluated before or after the surgery, and can be used to determine whether to perform an ultrasonic ablation again.
