Ocular implant insertion apparatus and methods
An exemplary ocular implant insertion system includes a case and a preloaded ocular implant insertion apparatus. The apparatus includes first and second movable structures that move the ocular implant in a predetermined sequence. The respective configurations of the case and the ocular implant insertion apparatus are such that the ocular implant insertion apparatus is not removable from the case when the ocular implant insertion apparatus is in the pre-use state and is removable after the first movable structure has moved at least a portion of the optical implant.
INTRAOCULAR LENS INJECTOR
Apparatuses, systems, and methods for implanting an intraocular lens into an eye are described. For example, an intraocular lens injector may include a passage formed in a distal end portion of the intraocular lens injector. The passage may define an interior surface, and one or more rails may be formed on the interior surface so as to displace an optic of an intraocular lens (IOL) being advanced through the passage towards a portion of the interior surface disposed opposite the one or more rails.
Intraocular lens injector assembly having shuttle assembly retaining intraocular lens in storage vial and operably presenting intraocular lens in injector assembly
A shuttle, vial and injector are provided for storing and presenting an IOL to a patient. The shuttle includes operably engaged shuttle plates having a set of confronting surfaces that flex about a flexure interface between a storage configuration, with at least an optic of an IOL in a nominal state and a loading configuration, with at least an optic of an IOL in a deformed state. The vial engages the shuttle and maintains the shuttle in the storage configuration. The injector receives the shuttle from the vial and includes surfaces for flexing the portions of the shuttle plates to the loading configuration upon engagement with the injector, wherein the shuttle plates impart a predetermined curvature to at least a portion of the IOL.

INTRAOCULAR LENS INSERTION APPARATUS
An intraocular lens insertion apparatus includes an apparatus body configured to include a housing member for housing an intraocular lens and an insertion tube member for ejecting the intraocular lens into an eyeball of a patient, a plunger configured to move in the apparatus body, and a hook member formed on the apparatus body for a user of the intraocular lens insertion apparatus to hook a finger when the user moves the plunger. The plunger is moved to a side of the insertion tube member, the intraocular lens housed in the housing member is pushed by a distal end of the plunger, and the intraocular lens is ejected from the insertion tube member, and a connecting member configured to connect an operability enhancing member for enhancing an operability of the plunger when the plunger is moved with the apparatus body is provided for the apparatus body.
Intraocular lens insertion system
A system for delivering an intraocular lens (IOL) is disclosed, including: a handpiece including a barrel defining an elongate passage, a pushrod disposed inside the elongate passage, and a plunger coupled to the pushrod; and a delivery unit coupled to a first end of the barrel, the delivery unit including a delivery tube and a lens holder coupled to the delivery tube, the lens holder including a lead haptic shelf arranged to receive a lead haptic of an IOL that is contained inside the lens holder, wherein the lead haptic shelf is configured to fold the lead haptic of the IOL over a body of the IOL while permitting the IOL to travel under the lead haptic shelf when the IOL is displaced from the lens holder to the delivery tube by the pushrod during delivery of the IOL into a patient's eye.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DEPLOYMENT DAMPING IN INTRAOCULAR LENS DEPLOYMENT
Intraocular lens (IOL) insertion apparatus and methods of use are provided and described herein. An example IOL insertion apparatus may include a handpiece body having a distal tip, a deployment chamber having an opening at a distal end of the handpiece body, and a deployment system disposed within the handpiece body. The deployment system can include a deployment carriage movable between proximal and distal positions within the handpiece body and a deployment plunger with a proximal end secured to the deployment carriage and a distal end to engage a folded IOL. The insertion apparatus may further include a damping feature protruding from a wall of the deployment chamber or a portion of the deployment system. The first damping feature may be positioned and arranged to increase a resistance to movement of the deployment system along a portion of a path traveled thereby between the proximal and distal positions.
IOL insertion apparatus
An IOL inserter for delivering an intraocular lens (IOL) into the eye of a subject, has a handpiece with a generally tubular barrel, a nosepiece coupled to the distal end of the handpiece; and a plunger having a spiral groove. The plunger translates longitudinally within the barrel and passes through a piston with an O-ring that frictionally engages an inner surface of the barrel. The spiral groove interacts with a pin or tooth in the bore of the piston. The plunger may have a drive cap and a cover fixed on the proximal end of the drive cap. The distal end of the plunger may engage having an enlarged head that receives the distal end of the plunger. The distal end of the pushrod may have a bifurcated tip capable of contacting and urging an IOL from the inserter during the implant procedure.
