The gripping portion is substantially planar so as to facilitate being gripped between finger and thumb. The handle incorporates a first flexible fluid conduit (61) for releasable fluid connection to the cartridge at the forward end of the handle. There is further disclosed a surgical device comprising a handle having a forward end and a rearward end and a gripping portion between said forward and rearward ends. The gripping portion is substantially planar so as to facilitate being gripped between finger and thumb. The surgical device also comprises a cartridge having a forward end, a rearward end and a hollow interior that is open at the forward and rearward ends, the rearward end for releasable attachment to the forward end of the handle, and the hollow interior of the cartridge adapted to hold an endothelial corneal implant in a scrolled or double coiled configuration. In addition, the surgical device comprises a first flexible fluid conduit incorporated in the handle, wherein the first flexible fluid conduit is configured for releasable fluid connection to the rearward end of the cartridge at the forward end of the handle.

A cartridge includes a first opening, a second opening, a channel, an intraocular lens arranged in the channel, and a cartridge plunger arranged in the channel and configured to firstly preload the intraocular lens by moving the cartridge plunger towards the first opening, then to fold the lens by moving it in the tapered region, and finally to push the lens out of the channel via the first opening. The cartridge is configured to be coupled to a syringe such that a fluid can be injected into the channel, and as a result the cartridge plunger can be propelled in a movement direction towards the first opening. The cartridge plunger includes a first cartridge plunger longitudinal end, a second cartridge plunger longitudinal end, and a fluid line via which the fluid can be injected from the second to the first cartridge plunger longitudinal end and finally to the intraocular lens.

An intraocular lens (IOL) injectors and associated methods are described. The IOL injectors may include a collapsible portion configured to reduce the length of the IOL injector when the collapsible portion is altered from an uncollapsed configuration to a collapsed configuration. In some instances, an IOL may be advanced from a storage location to a dwell location when the collapsible portion is altered from the uncollapsed configuration to the collapsed configuration. The IOL injectors may also include a combination push and screw drive.

The lens injector cartridge includes a loading chamber to receive the lens. The lens holder includes a spacer component, where the spacer component is to be coupled to the lens where the spacer component separates at least two optical components of the intraocular lens.

A shuttle, vial and injector are provided for storing and presenting an IOL to a patient. The shuttle includes operably engaged shuttle plates having a set of confronting surfaces that flex about a flexure interface between a storage configuration, with at least an optic of an IOL in a nominal state and a loading configuration, with at least an optic of an IOL in a deformed state. The vial engages the shuttle and maintains the shuttle in the storage configuration. The injector receives the shuttle from the vial and includes surfaces for flexing the portions of the shuttle plates to the loading configuration upon engagement with the injector, wherein the shuttle plates impart a predetermined curvature to at least a portion of the IOL.
