Injector assembly for inserting an intraocular lens and injector

The invention relates to an injector assembly having: a folding chamber which is designed to receive an intraocular lens which has an optical body and two haptic elements; a holder; a folding wedge which is attached to the holder and is designed to be introduced into the folding chamber via a folding chamber opening, thereby folding the intraocular lens; and a first slider and a second slider which are each designed to push one of the two haptic elements onto the optical body by means of a displacement of the respective slider from a starting position to an end position, the holder being designed to drive the first slider and/or the second slider from the starting position to the end position by means of a movement of the holder towards the folding chamber.

Retractable cap actuation for an intraocular lens cartridge

Systems, methods, and apparatuses for removably attaching a drive mechanism handpiece to an intraocular lens (IOL) cartridge that folds the IOL upon retraction of a cap, are provided. The IOL cartridge comprises a nozzle and a compartment configured to receive an IOL. The nozzle is in fluid communication with the compartment. The IOL cartridge also includes a retractable cap that covers the nozzle and the compartment. The retractable cap is configured to expose the nozzle and fold the IOL upon retraction of the retractable cap. The IOL cartridge may also include a plunger case that is in fluid communication with the compartment, wherein a plunger is movably disposed within the plunger case.

ATRAUMATIC IOL INSERTION CARTRIDGE OPENING

This intraocular lens (IOL) injector cartridge has a proximal opening in a main body for receiving an IOL. The main body has a lumen that extends longitudinally to a distal end having an opening smaller than the IOL. Passage through the lumen compresses or rolls the IOL so that when the distal end is inserted through a small incision in the eye the IOL can be expelled into the capsular bag. The distal end of the cartridge is beveled with a leading tip in front of a trailing heel. The characteristics of the beveled end are such that damage to the IOL is reduced. The bevel may be straight or curved and includes a distal face defined by the thickness of the distal end between the lumen and an exterior surface. The distal face may be flush with the bevel or chamfered. An inner corner angle between the distal face and the lumen is 60° to reduce the chance of scratching the IOL as it passes out of the distal opening.

A male form is configured as an attachment element for an injector for implanting an intraocular lens in an eye. The male form includes an elongate carrier part and a front part that is arranged at one end of the elongate carrier part. The front part has a front side and is made of an elastically deformable material, the deformable material being compressible at least in the direction of a longitudinal axis (A) of the male form. The front side includes a first peripheral side, an opposite second peripheral side, and at least one elongate indentation, which is formed in the front part and which is open at the front side. The indentation extends between the two peripheral sides and opens out at the peripheral sides. An injector for implanting an intraocular lens having the male form is also disclosed.

Intraocular lens injector

Intraocular lens injectors described herein may include a symmetrical arranged storage compartment, nozzle passage, and plunger tip in order to symmetrically fold and provide symmetrical loading to an intraocular lens during advancement and delivery so as to avoid rotation of the intraocular lens about longitudinal, vertical, and/or lateral axes during advancement and/or delivery of the intraocular lens.
