An IOL injector having a lever-driven plunger mechanism is described.

FOLDING DEVICE AND INJECTOR SYSTEM FOR INTRAOCULAR LENSES

An injection system for an intraocular lens (IOL) utilizes a folding device for the IOL. The folding device comprises a pair of co-acting winglets pivotable between an open position and a closed position, and together defining a hinge axis and a receptacle for the IOL. Each winglet has an outwardly extending, unitary leg portion defining a base plane that includes the hinge axis and a motion limiting protuberance on each said leg portion extending from the base plane. The base planes are situated at an angle relative to one another and the protuberances abut one another when the winglets are in the open position. The base planes merge into a single plane when the winglets are in the closed position.

INTRAOCULAR LENS INSERTER

An intraocular lens inserter can include a drive device with controllable advance motion. The drive device may include an actuator device and an energy device. The actuator device may include a piston rod that uses the advance motion to push an intraocular lens from a cartridge for insertion into an eye of an animal. The energy device may act upon the actuator device to generate the advance motion. The actuator device may include a dampening medium to control the advance motion, such as by controllably dampening the advance motion.

Atraumatic IOL insertion cartridge opening

This intraocular lens (IOL) injector cartridge has a proximal opening in a main body for receiving an IOL. The main body has a lumen that extends longitudinally to a distal end having an opening smaller than the IOL. Passage through the lumen compresses or rolls the IOL so that when the distal end is inserted through a small incision in the eye the IOL can be expelled into the capsular bag. The distal end of the cartridge is beveled with a leading tip in front of a trailing heel. The characteristics of the beveled end are such that damage to the IOL is reduced. The bevel may be straight or curved and includes a distal face defined by the thickness of the distal end between the lumen and an exterior surface. The distal face may be flush with the bevel or chamfered. An inner corner angle between the distal face and the lumen is ≥60° to reduce the chance of scratching the IOL as it passes out of the distal opening.

Cassette for receiving an intraocular lens, injector device having said cassette and method for folding an intraocular lens in a cassette

The invention is directed to a cassette for accommodating an intraocular lens. The cassette defines a longitudinal axis and includes a base part. Pivotable cover flaps are arranged on the base part so as to be pivotable about the longitudinal axis from a base position to a closed position. The cover flaps are curved at least in selected regions thereof and are configured to be autonomously intrinsically bendable in a defined manner when the cover flaps are moved from the base position to the closed position.

The present invention relates to a cartridge for an injector system, including a folding body for implanting an intraocular lens into an eye. The cartridge comprises a receiving region for at least one lens and at least one movable haptic slider for sliding a lens haptic onto or to an optical portion of the lens. The haptics can thus be brought into a defined position such that, when folding and ejecting the lens from the injector, they can be rolled in a defined manner into the optical portion of the lens so as to guarantee insertion and unfolding of the lens in the eye in the most reproducible manner possible.

Intraocular lens injector

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for implanting an intraocular lens into an eye are described. For example, an intraocular lens injector may include a passage formed in a distal end portion of the intraocular lens injector. The passage may define an interior surface, and one or more rails may be formed on the interior surface so as to displace an optic of an intraocular lens (IOL) being advanced through the passage towards a portion of the interior surface disposed opposite the one or more rails.

Hydraulically assisted lens delivery system and method

The invention relates to an apparatus and method that provides hydraulically assisted delivery of intraocular lenses (IOL) from a insertion tool. The IOL insertion system having an insertion rod with a tube having a first end and a second end, a piston head affixed to the insertion rod and positioned between the first and second end, a hydraulic chamber, an aspiration line communicatively connected to the hydraulic chamber, and at least one valve in fluid communication with the aspiration line, wherein the insertion rod moves in response to the displacement of hydraulic fluid within the hydraulic chamber.
