Laser-produced porous structure
The present invention disclosed a method of producing a three-dimensional porous tissue in-growth structure. The method includes the steps of depositing a first layer of metal powder and scanning the first layer of metal powder with a laser beam to form a portion of a plurality of predetermined unit cells. Depositing at least one additional layer of metal powder onto a previous layer and repeating the step of scanning a laser beam for at least one of the additional layers in order to continuing forming the predetermined unit cells. The method further includes continuing the depositing and scanning steps to form a medical implant.
Hip arthroplasty trial systems and associated medical devices, methods, and kits
Hip arthroplasty trial systems and associated medical devices, methods, and kits are described that can be utilized in situ to complete a femoral head trial. An example embodiment of a hip arthroplasty trial system includes a medical device and a femoral stem. The medical device has a head member, a spacer, a shaft, and a locking member. The spacer is disposed within the head member and is moveable from a first position to a second position. The shaft is disposed within the head member and contacts the femoral stem. The shaft is moveable from a first position to a second position. Movement of the shaft from the first position to the second position moves the spacer from its first position to its second position. The locking member is disposed within the head member and releasably attaches the shaft to the head member.
PATIENT SPECIFIC FEMORAL PROSTHESIS
A femoral prosthesis system for an orthopaedic hip implant and method of use is disclosed. The prosthesis system includes a femoral stem component that includes a core body and a casing that encases the core body. The casing can be additively manufactured such that the core body defines a predetermined orientation in the core body among a plurality of permissible predetermined orientations. The femoral stem component can further include a neck and a trunnion that extends from the neck. The neck can extend out with respect to the core body at a predetermined angle within a range of permissible predetermined angles.
Modular endoprosthesis shaft system with rotation element
The invention relates to an endoprosthesis shaft system for elongate bones, comprising an anchoring part (10) and a shaft (1), which is formed from module elements that can be coupled by means of a plug-in connection (45), wherein a mutual rotation of the elements along the shaft (1) is adjustable and is blocked by means of an anti-rotation mechanism. In order to adjust the rotation, a rotation piece (5) is provided as a further module element, which has a self-contained rotation adjustment device (6) and a clamping device (7) as a mechanism for blocking the rotation. The rotation piece (5) comprises two end faces for the plug-in connection (45) and a sleeve (77). The invention provides, with the rotation piece, a particular module element for the shaft, which as a structural unit allows both an adjustment of the rotation and a blocking against undesired rotation in a self-contained unit.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR FORMING A CUSTOM CEMENT-ON-CEMENT ARTICULATING HIP SPACER
Aspects of the present disclosure include a device for forming a custom cement cast of an acetabular implant for a patient. The device includes an elongated handle, and a head coupled to a proximal end of the elongated handle. The head includes a body, a circumferential lip, and a nipple. The body of the head is shaped as a spherical cap, and includes a circular base and an apex. The circumferential lip extends radially outwardly from the circular base of the body. The nipple extends from the apex of the body in a direction perpendicular to the circular base.
Anisotropic Materials in Medical Devices
A system and method for improving upon an ability of a surgeon to repair traumatic bone injury using new materials, components, and structures. A structure may be used as an implant or a component of an external fixator for a fractured long bone with that structure having anisotropic and viscoelastic properties, such as through additive manufacturing techniques.
Hip Joint Implant
A prosthetic hip joint implant comprises an acetabular liner having an acetabular liner inner surface and defining an acetabular recess, and a femoral component comprising a head having a head outer surface and defining a head recess, a shaft having a shaft proximal end and a shaft distal end disposed within the head recess, and a covering disposed on and fixedly secured to the head outer surface, the shaft distal end, head, and covering disposed within the acetabular liner recess such that the covering is in continuous contact with the acetabular liner inner surface. Polyaxial movement of the shaft distal end produces movement of the covering along the acetabular liner inner surface within the acetabular liner recess without producing relative movement between the covering and the head.
ARTIFICIAL JOINT STEM AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING ARTIFICIAL JOINT STEM
In the present disclosure, an artificial joint stem includes a base and a coating film located on the base. The base includes a first region, a second region, and a third region located in sequence. The coating film contains a calcium phosphate-based material and an antimicrobial material. The coating film is located across the first region and the second region, and the third region is exposed from the coating film. The surface of the coating film located in the first region has a larger surface roughness than the surface of the base in the third region.
Implantable reporting processor for an alert implant
The present disclosure provides alert implants that comprise a medical device and an implantable reporting processor (IRP), where one example of such a medical device includes a component for a total knee arthroplasty (TKA) such as a tibial extension, a femoral component for hip replacements, a breast implant, a distal rod for arm or leg breakage repair, a scoliosis rod, a dynamic hip screw, a spinal interbody spacer, and tooling and methods that may be used to form the alert implant, and uses of such alert implants in the health maintenance of patients who receive the implant.
ARTIFICIAL JOINT STEM
In the present disclosure, an artificial joint stem includes a base having an outer surface including a rough surface, and a coating film disposed on the rough surface of the base and containing a calcium phosphate-based material and an antimicrobial agent. The rough surface includes an exposed region exposed from the coating film.
