System and method for non-binding allograft subtalar joint implant
10123879 · 2018-11-13 ·

Provided is a system and method for providing a non-binding allograft subtalar joint implant for surgical implant into a person's foot proximate to the ankle. This system for repair includes at least one sterile non-binding allograft subtablar joint implant provided as a pre-formed allograft rod plug ARP having a diameter about equal to an average width of a canal between a person's talus and calcaneus bones, the ARP being resiliently compressible and flexible. When snuggly disposed between the person's talus and calcaneus bones, the ARP compresses during normal use of the person's foot and maintains the canal in an anatomically correct alignment and reduces a tendency for abnormal motion between the person's talus and calcaneus bones. An associated method of use is also provided.

A system includes a cutting guide and a cutting template. The cutting guide has a body including a plurality of sides that together define a cavity that is accessible via an opening defined by a first side of the plurality of sides. A second side of the plurality of sides defines at least two elongate slots. The second side is disposed adjacent to the first side and at a distance from an opposed third side. Each of the at least two slots is in communication with the cavity and disposed at a different location along the second side. The cutting template has a body defining at least one elongate slot. The cutting template is configured to be engaged with the cutting guide such that the at least one elongate slot of the cutting template aligns with at least one of the at least two elongate slots of the cutting guide.

Subtalar arthroereisis implant apparatus and treatment method
10092409 · 2018-10-09 ·

A device and method of manufacturing and implanting a custom subtalar arthroereisis implant having side surfaces which are mirrored in topography with the sinus tarsi of a patient. The implant is formed using images of the patient standing in a weight bearing position with their sinus tarsi and the surrounding bone structure in an anatomically correct alignment. Once implanted, the implant urges and maintains the anatomically correct alignment thereby minimizing any patient tendency for abnormal motion between said patent's talus and calcaneus.

ADJUSTABLE WEDGE
20180221071 · 2018-08-09 ·

An adjustable wedge can be used in an Evans technique foot and ankle reconstructive wedge surgery. The adjustable wedge can include a slide. The slide can be positioned to a suitable location on a patient's calcaneus, then fastened to the calcaneus through first and second holes through the slide at opposite ends of the slide. The adjustable wedge can include a body having a pair of wedged surfaces configured to contact the cutout of the calcaneus. The body can include a slot extending between the wedged surfaces. The slot can be sized to accommodate the slide so that the slide is slidable within the slot. A circumferential surface can extend circumferentially between the wedged surfaces. A threaded hole can extend through the circumferential surface to the slot. The threaded hole can receive a fastener, such as a set screw, to secure the slide to the body.

Expandable wedge implants and methods. The expandable implant has a main body, a moveable endplate pivotably connected to the main body, an actuator assembly including an actuator and two actuator pivots, and a drive assembly including a drive screw configured to move the actuator assembly to thereby expand the endplate relative to the main body. The expandable implant may be configured to correct pes planus or a flatfoot deformity using an Evans procedure during foot surgery.

Orthopedic implants and methods of manufacturing orthopedic implants
10016811 · 2018-07-10 ·

A method of manufacturing an orthopedic implant is provided. The method includes creating a 3D model of an orthopedic implant having a solid portion and a porous portion and selectively adjusting a physical property of at least one of porosity of the porous portion, lattice thickness of the porous portion, beam profile of the porous portion, and topography of the 3D model. The entire implant is then additively manufactured based on the 3D model.
