The void filler includes a body and a plurality of legs extending from the body. The body has a sidewall defining an opening for receipt of the stem which extends along a length of the body and extends through the sidewall so as to form a side-slot in the sidewall that extends along an entire length of the sidewall. The plurality of legs each have a first end connected to the body and a second end remote from the body. The legs each have an outer surface that tapers between the first and second ends and is configured to register with a corresponding inner surface of a bone void when implanted in an end of the femur.

TIBIAL GUIDE TRANSFER INSTRUMENTS AND METHODS

Systems, methods, kits, and devices for transferring kinematic alignment references from the distal aspect of a femur to the proximal aspect of an adjacent tibia. An exemplary assembly includes a distally referencing linking drill guide assembly comprising: a linking drill guide comprising: a femoral portion, the femoral portion configured to engage a first femoral engagement member, a tibial portion, the tibial portion configured to engage a first tibial engagement member, and a body connecting the femoral portion to the tibial portion, and a femoral referencing instrument, the femoral referencing instrument having a first complimentary femoral engagement member, wherein the assembly has an engaged configuration when the first femoral engagement member engages the first complimentary femoral engagement member, and wherein the assembly has a disengaged configuration when the first femoral engagement member does not engage the first complementary femoral engagement member.

Impaction cradle

An impaction cradle (50) for supporting a femoral (10) or tibial (70) implant on a planar support surface such as a tabletop. The impaction cradle can orient the femoral or tibial implant on the impaction cradle such that an attachment feature of the implant for an intramedullary stem or metaphyseal sleeve is aligned with a vertical plane or parallel to the true vertical axis. In this position, the intramedullary stem or metaphyseal sleeve can be impacted along a generally vertical axis to drive the intramedullary stem or metaphyseal sleeve along an impaction axis parallel to a true vertical axis or positioned within a vertical plane. The generally vertical impaction angle can be easier for medical practitioners to accurately impact the intramedullary stem or metaphyseal sleeve, which lowers the risk of damage to the intramedullary stem, metaphyseal sleeve, or the femoral or tibial implant.

Modular total knee arthroplasty system and method

A modular system for total knee arthroplasty includes a modular trial implant assembly. The modular implant assembly includes an elongate shaft configured for insertion into an elongate cavity in a bone, a reamer removably coupleable to the elongate shaft via a connection that allows the reamer to rotate while the elongate shaft remains in a substantially fixed angular orientation. The reamer has an outer surface that tapers toward the distal end configured to form a tapered cavity in an end of a bone in which the reamer is inserted and rotated. The modular trial implant assembly further includes a trial implant removably coupleable to a proximal end of the reamer. A modular final implant assembly includes an elongate stem, a tapered body and an implant body, each having a size and shape that can substantially correspond to a size and shape of the elongate shaft, the reamer and the trial implant, respectively.

Methods of operating a surgical instrument and performing a surgical procedure to balance a patient's knee

A method of operating a surgical instrument for use in a knee replacement surgical procedure includes assembling a ligament balancer instrument assembly by selecting from a number of differently sized tibial paddles and femoral paddles and thereafter securing the assembled ligament balancer instrument assembly to a distraction instrument.

Total knee joint mold and methods for gap balancing and joint line restoration

A femoral component kit includes a piston. The piston includes a notch formed in a bottom surface. The kit includes a femoral component mold having a mold body with a first sidewall, a second sidewall, and a bottom. The sidewalls and bottom define a recess for receiving an antibiotic-impregnated material. The recess includes depressed sections that are spaced apart by an inner section. The outer sections are transverse to a longitudinal axis of the mold. The inner section includes a keel that extends upward and has a height that sets a size of a femoral component produced using the mold. The keel is aligned with the notch when the piston is inserted within the mold. The notch and the keel may include one or more calibration markings that indicate increments of adjustments to the size of the femoral component and resulting flexion and extension gaps and joint space position.

SURGICAL TEMPLATES

A surgical template system for use in working on a bone comprises: a tool guide block comprising at least one guide aperture for receiving and guiding a tool to work on a bone; locating means comprising a plurality of locating members, each member having a respective end surface for positioning against a surface of the bone; and attachment means for non-adjustably attaching the tool guide block to the locating means such that, when attached, the member end surfaces are secured in fixed position with, respect to each other, for engaging different respective portions of the surface of the bone, and the at least one guide aperture is secured in a fixed position with respect to the end surfaces. Corresponding methods of manufacturing a surgical template system, methods of manufacturing locating means for a surgical template system, methods of fitting a prosthesis to a bone, surgical methods, and surgical apparatus are described.
