Medical device for joint immobilization
An immobilization sleeve for helping user's heal predetermined joints. The immobilization sleeve includes two open ends at each distal end spaced apart by a plurality of inflatable, semi-rigid passages that extend in a braided, or crisscross, configuration from the base to the top of the sleeve. The sleeve is inserted onto a joint and is made of a resilient material that wraps around the joint of a user.
Forward Head Posture Correction Collar
A forward head position correction collar is provided which includes a shoulder collar assembly, a chin mastoid piece for engaging and positioning the head of a wearer of the collar; a cheek or jaw piece for engaging and positioning the head of a wearer; and interconnecting means for interconnecting the chin piece to the collar assembly as to enable the chin piece to be manually and preferably incrementally adjustable with respect to the shoulder collar assembly in a Z-direction to thereby adjust the supported head of the wearer from the forward head position to an increasingly corrected position. The interconnecting means is further adapted for displacing the chin-mastoid piece in a vertical direction with respect to the shoulder collar assembly simultaneously with and proportional to the incremental adjustment of the chin-mastoid piece along the Z-axis. The proportional vertical displacement with respect to the z axis displacement for the chin-mastoid support piece is that yielded by a point moving at about a 5 to 25 degree slope with respect to the horizontal Z-axis. The correction collar may further include a lordosis correction assembly secured to the rear of the collar and engageable with the rear of the wearer for applying corrective forces to at least one or more of the cervical vertebrae of the wearer.
Vacuum splint apparatus for accommodating the chin of a patient and method for using the same
A particle filled neck brace is used for immobilizing the neck and chin of a patient and includes a vacuum pump disposed on the neck brace, which pump is communicated to the interior of the neck brace. After the neck brace is secured around the neck and chin of the patient, the vacuum pump is manipulated to remove air from the neck brace to form a rigid mold about the patient's neck and chin. The vacuum pump has a one way directional valve so that the neck brace remains in a rigid configuration for as long as the neck brace is applied to the patient. The neck brace also specifically forms a rigid mold over the patient's chin so as to immobilize the patient as well as to provide a comfortable fit without inducing further distracting the patient or restricting the patient's venous return blood flow.
Inflation control valve
Systems, methods, and devices are described for providing a fluid control for an inflation system. The control directs fluid flow from an inlet to one or more outlets of the control. The outlets are independently connected in fluid communication with the inlet by through the control. The control allows a user to create a fluid path between the inlet and a selected outlet by positioning the control in an orientation corresponding to the desired outlet. Each outlet is independently connected in fluid communication with the inlet in various orientations of the control.
Diagnostic support
A diagnostic support suitable to be attached to a patient includes a band suitable to be wrapped around and tightened onto a portion of the patient corresponding to an area of interest of the patient and an air space incorporated in the band and suitable to expand so that, when the band is tightened onto the portion of the patient, the air space compresses and stiffens the portion of the patient.
Quick deployment cast
A quick deployment cast comprises a flexible outer sleeve fitted for a human appendage. The cast has a bladder network within the sleeve, a fluid capable of expanding and hardening when in the presence of a curing agent, stored within the bladder network and a mechanism for exposing the fluid to the curing agent.
Forward head posture correction collar
A forward head position correction collar is provided having first assembly mounted around the shoulder and neck portions of a wearer. A second assembly is movably connected to the first assembly. The second assembly includes a pair of opposed first and second adjustment assemblies that are used to position first and second cheek engagement pieces on the face of the wearer. The first and second cheek engagement pieces are joined to one side of a chin-mastoid piece that can be adjusted relative to the wearer. Preferably, a lordosis correction fulcrum assembly is formed within the first assembly to selectively and incrementally engage the rear of the wearer to apply corrective forces against the cervical area of the neck.
SCOLIOSIS BRACE WITH INFLATABLE PRESSURE BLADDERS AND SCOLIOSIS TREATMENT METHODS USING THE SAME
According to embodiments of the invention, a novel scoliosis brace includes inflatable pressure bladders which are cyclically controlled and monitored to increase and decrease pressure over a given treatment period. A treatment protocol monitors and tracks the quality and quantity of brace wear time to provide better data for modifying and/or increasing bladder pressures and cycle times over a long-term bracing period.
Joint separator for body alignment
A spinal treatment system includes a traction device, an exercise device adapted for imparting curvature to the lumbar or sacral spine of a user and for manipulating the spine and intervertebral discs with decompression force, and a cushion coupled to the traction device and configured to bear against one or both of a head of the user and the thoracic spine of the user. The exercise device includes a frame for placement on the floor. A pad or inflatable bladder is carried by the top surface of the frame. A body strap attachment portion encompasses the thoracic-sacral spinal vertebrae region of the user and secures the frame to the user. The cushion includes one or more pad sections or inflatable bladder sections.
Enveloping body
An enveloping body for at least partly enveloping a limb, comprising an enclosed volume and a connection for supplying fluid to the volume and discharging it from the volume, wherein the enveloping body defines an inner circumference and an outer circumference, wherein the inner circumference of the enveloping body increases as the pressure of the volume increases.
