An expandable absorbent structure comprises an expansion loop core configured to expand in response to absorption of a liquid and an expansion loop material structure surrounding the expansion loop core and having a trough therein, wherein the trough is formed from a first portion of the expansion loop material structure folded over a second portion of the expansion loop material structure at a first elbow of the expansion loop material structure. In response to an increase in size of the expansion loop core, the expansion loop core presses against the expansion loop material structure to cause a length of the trough to decrease.

A multilayer wrapper film for a hygiene product has a first outer layer, a second outer layer, and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer between the first outer layer and the second outer layer and forming therewith respective adhesive bonds. The adhesive bond between the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer and the first outer layer is stronger than the adhesive bond between the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer and the second outer layer. An overall thickness of the first and second outer layers with the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer arranged therebetween is between 20 m and 80 m.

A packaging unit for hygiene articles is formed from a sheet having a folding axis dividing the sheet into first and second regions. One of the inner edge portion and the outer edge portion of the edge zone of the first region is provided with resealable adhesive, thus forming a first adhesive zone. The other of the inner edge portion and the outer edge portion is adhesive-free. The inner edge portion or the outer edge portion of the edge zone of the second region corresponding to the adhesive-carrying edge portion of the first region is adhesive-free, such that when the sheet is folded about the folding axis, the edge portions carrying resealable adhesive in the first region are brought in contact with the adhesive-free edge portions in the second region. A distance between the at least one first folding axis and the first adhesive zone is 1-20 mm.

A method for forming a wrapping material for hygiene articles involves: providing one of the inner edge portion and the outer edge portion of the edge zone of the first region with a first resealable adhesive, such that the other of the inner edge portion and the outer edge portion of the edge zone of the first region is adhesive-free; providing one of the inner edge portion and the outer edge portion of the edge zone of the second region with a first resealable adhesive, such that the other of the inner edge portion and the outer edge portion of the edge zone of the second region is adhesive-free; and providing at least one of the first central portion of the first region and the second central portion of the second region with a second adhesive; wherein the steps a-c are performed simultaneously.

The present invention provides a method and apparatus for increasing the number of articles processed. over a distance traveled in the machine direction of an assembly line. In particular, the orientation of the long dimension of the article is provided transverse to the machine direction, thus process rug the articles side-by-side instead of end-to-end.

A package comprises: wrapped absorbent articles comprising: an absorbent article having an absorber; and a wrapper for individually wrapping the absorbent article, the absorbent article being placed on the wrapper and folded together with the wrapper, and the absorbent article being wrapped individually by the wrapper; and a bag containing the plurality of wrapped absorbent articles, wherein the wrapped absorbent articles are provided with a perfume, at least one surface of the bag comprises: aperture through which the perfume of the wrapped absorbent articles contained in the bag can pass; and a perfume indicator for indicating an existence of the perfume, a compressibility of the package is 10% or more when a load of 1.35 kg in weight is applied in an area of 100 mm200 mm of the package for ten seconds, and a compression resilience of the package is 95% or more after ten seconds has passed after removal of the load.

A packaging unit for hygiene articles is formed from a sheet of material having an inner surface and an outer surface. The inner surface includes an edge zone including an inner edge portion and an outer edge portion. The sheet has at least one folding axis dividing the sheet into a first region and a second region. The inner edge portion and the outer edge portion of the edge zone of the first region is provided with adhesive, and the other of the inner edge portion and the outer edge portion of the edge zone of the first region is adhesive-free. Further, one of the inner edge portion and the outer edge portion of the edge zone of the second region is provided with adhesive, and the other is adhesive-free in a complementary manner to the edge zone of the first region.

A relatively large splittable outer packaging includes a splitting structure along at least one side face panel, for separating two portions of the outer packaging into at least one relatively shorter outer package. Upon separation of the two portions, individually wrapped absorbent articles having sealed edges on the wrappers and that are contained in the outer packaging, are exposed at openings in the at least one relatively shorter outer package, for ease of dispensing.

A package of one or more absorbent articles, wherein the one or more absorbent articles are sealed within the package is disclosed. The package having a cuboid form includes a plurality of panels, including a consumer-facing panel, a rear panel, a top panel, a bottom panel, a left side panel and a right side panel. The top or the bottom panel includes an end seal. The end seal includes adhesive disposed in a seal area and an adhesive area which is greater than the seal area. The end seal comprises a ratio of the adhesive area width to the seal area width of from about 2:1 to about 20:1. The package material has natural fibers and a basis weight of between 50 gsm to 120 gsm. And, the package material is recyclable.

A packaged absorbent article having a body surface and a garment surface; and a wrapper sheet for wrapping the absorbent article so that at least a portion of the garment surface of the absorbent article can be seen through the wrapper sheet.
