Pressure-regulating fluid transfer systems and methods
Various systems and methods for the pressure-regulated transfer of medical fluids are disclosed. The system can include an adapter assembly that connects with a medical container and with a syringe assembly. The syringe assembly can include a first reservoir and a second reservoir. In various embodiments, when the adapter assembly and the syringe assembly are coupled, the first reservoir and the container can exchange regulating fluid and the second reservoir and the container can exchange medical liquid from the medical container.
Adapter for vial access device
A system (10) includes a vial access device (12) including a spike (38), with the vial access device attachable to a first vial (80) defining a first vial size (81), and an adapter (14) transitionable between a shield position in which the adapter is attachable to the vial access device such that the adapter shields the spike of the vial access device and a vial position in which the adapter is attachable to a second vial (90) defining a second vial size (91), the second vial size different than the first vial size.
DEVICES FOR ACCESSING MEDICINAL FLUID FROM A CONTAINER
In certain embodiments, a vial adaptor for removing liquid contents from a vial comprises a piercing member and a bag. The bag can be contained within the piercing member such that the bag is introduced to the vial when the vial adaptor is coupled with the vial. In some embodiments, the bag expands within the vial as liquid is removed from the vial via the adaptor, thereby regulating pressure within the vial. In other embodiments, a vial comprises a bag for regulating pressure within the vial as liquid is removed therefrom. In some embodiments, a vial adaptor is coupled with the vial in order to remove the liquid. In some embodiments, as the liquid is removed from the vial via the adaptor, the bag expands within the vial, and in other embodiments, the bag contracts within the vial.
Piercing member for vial adapter
A vial adapter includes a body having a component connection interface and a vial connection interface, with the component connection interface configured to engage a connection interface of a mating component, a pressure equalization assembly including a chamber configured to expand from a first volume to a second volume larger than the first volume, and a piercing member having a first end connected to the body and a second end positioned opposite the first end. The second end of the piercing member includes a piercing point configured to pierce a closure of a vial, with the first and second fluid ports extending from a position intermediate the first and second ends of the piercing member to the second end of the piercing member. The first and second fluid ports and a portion of the piercing member define a V-shaped profile at the second end of the piercing member.
PRESSURE-REGULATING VIAL ADAPTORS
In certain embodiments, a vial adaptor comprises a housing configured to couple the adaptor with a vial, an access channel, a regulator channel, and a regulator assembly. The access channel is configured to facilitate withdrawal of fluid from the vial when the adaptor is coupled to the vial. The regulator channel is configured to facilitate a flow of a regulating fluid from the regulator assembly to compensate for changes in volume of a medical fluid in the vial. In some embodiments, the regulator assembly includes a flexible member configured to expand and contract in accordance with changes in the volume of the medical fluid in the vial. In some embodiments, the flexible member is substantially free to expand and contract. In some embodiments, the flexible member is not partly or completely located in a rigid enclosure
Transfer cannula
A transfer cannula for sterile transfer of fluids to powders or fluids to fluids from a first receptacle into a second receptacle has two tube sections running in the same direction which have different lengths in the longitudinal direction of the tube sections, the longer tube section terminating in an insertion tip. The tube sections are rigidly connected to a coupling wall surrounding the tube sections in a cylindrical manner. The coupling wall has a cutout which extends as far as an end edge of the coupling wall and in which, when viewed from the side, an insertion tip of each tube section is exposed. The coupling wall projects beyond the insertion tip in the direction of the longitudinal extent of the tube sections, and the cut-out widens in a corresponding V-shape at the end edge.
NON-VENTED VIAL ACCESS SYRINGE
A syringe includes a plunger having a plunger tube with proximal and distal ends, a center tube with a center passage that extends within the plunger tube, and a balloon disposed over the center tube and sealingly fixed to at least one of the center tube and the plunger tube. The syringe also includes a barrel having a barrel tube having proximal and distal ends and an interior configured to accept a portion of the plunger, a tip fixedly coupled to the proximal end of the barrel tube, a post fixedly attached to the tip and extending within the barrel tube toward the distal end, the tip configured to partially extend into the center passage of the plunger, and a gas passage extending from a proximal end of the tip to the distal end of the post.
VIAL ADAPTER
An exemplary vial adapter may include a moveable member, an elongated member with a first passage, a second passage coupled to an expandable first reservoir, and a third passage coupled to an expandable second reservoir. In a first orientation of an exemplary vial adapter, a fluid may be directed through the first passage into the first reservoir or the second reservoir. In a second orientation of an exemplary vial adapter, a fluid may be drawn through the first passage and a fluid drawn through an air passage into the second passage. In a second orientation of an exemplary vial adapter, a fluid may be directed through the first passage and through the third passage into the second reservoir. In a first orientation of an exemplary vial adapter, a moveable member may be activated to direct a fluid from the second reservoir through the third passage.
Septum holder with moveable septum
Disclosed is a septum holder that comprises a body having an upper body part and a lower body part that has a bored out interior. An insert comprising at least one bore that forms the seat of a needle valve fits loosely into the bored out interior of the lower body part. A septum comprising an upper part is attached to an exterior surface of the lower body part of the septum holder. A lower part of the septum extends downward beyond the lower edge of the lower body part of the septum holder. The septum holder is characterized in that the insert can freely move up and down in the interior of the lower body part and the septum can freely move up and down on the exterior surface of the lower body part. Also disclosed is a connector section for a liquid transfer apparatus that comprises the septum holder.
