Solid cleansing compositions and methods for treating, decreasing, reducing, or preventing hyperpigmentation of skin, and/or methods for regulating melanin in or on skin are provided. The solid cleansing composition may include a delivery vehicle and one or more whitening agents. The whitening agents may include one or more of kojic acid, phenylethyl resorcinol, or combinations thereof. The whitening agents may be configured to regulate melanin in or on skin, and the delivery vehicle may be configured to stabilize the one or more whitening agents.

The present invention relates to the field of biomedical technology, and particularly relates to a composition with anti-aging properties, which comprises spermidine and resveratrol. The invention provides a method for selecting a composition with anti-aging properties, and the anti-aging properties of the composition were confirmed by lifespan analysis, cell viability analysis and staining analysis using materials such as Caenorhabditis elegans and mouse embryonic fibroblasts etc. The composition can be used to improve life-span, as anti-aging drugs and nutritional products. The invention also discloses the preferred concentrations of spermidine and resveratrol in the composition, where the preferred concentration of spermidine is 200 μM and the preferred concentration of resveratrol is 10 μM. The method as provided by the invention is versatile, and the provided compositions can be used in drug preparation and epidemic medicine.

Compositions for topical application that effectively deliver antioxidants across the epidermis, dermis, or a combination thereof into cells and/or the bloodstream while concurrently maintaining chemical activity of the antioxidants. In certain aspects, these formulations include emulsions and balms each having a lipophilic carrier and a lipophilic antioxidant solubilized by the lipophilic carrier. Also disclosed herein are methods for making these compositions for topical application.

Embodiments of sunscreen formulations are disclosed herein. In one example, a sunscreen formulation includes a) a physical/inorganic sunscreen active ingredient at from about 5% to about 25% on a weight/weight (w/w) basis, wherein the active ingredient generates a first sun protection factor (“SPF”) value to a sunscreen formulation; b) gadusol; and c) a plurality of ingredients configured to deliver ingredients a) and b) in the sunscreen formulation, wherein the gadusol is present in the sunscreen formulation in an amount sufficient to generate a SPF booster effect in the sunscreen formulation.
