APPARATUS COMPRISING A MULTI-LUMEN TUBE
The present invention relates to an apparatus comprising at least one multi-lumen tube, wherein the tube has a first group of lumens and a second group of lumens wherein the lumens of the second group are arranged around the lumen(s) of the first group, and wherein the lumen(s) of the first group serve the transportation of at least one first fluid, and wherein the lumens of the second group are filled with at least one functional fluid, wherein the apparatus furthermore comprises at least one actuator which is in communication with at least one of the second lumens and is configured such that at least one property of the functional fluid can be changed by means of the actuator.
Catheter assembly with replaceable components
A catheter assembly includes a catheter, a collar, and an extension tube assembly. The catheter includes a leading end portion and a trailing end portion. The collar is supported on the trailing end portion of the catheter. The extension tube assembly includes a first section and a second section, each section independent of the other section and including a substantially rigid body portion and a compressible extension tube portion. The body portion of each of the first and second sections is independently engageable with the trailing end portion of the catheter. The collar is configured to engage the first and second sections of the extension tube assembly to secure the extension tube assembly to the trailing end portion of the catheter.
Monitoring device and method for monitoring an extracorporeal blood treatment device
A device and method are used for monitoring an extracorporeal blood treatment device, such as a dialysis machine, which includes an extracorporeal blood circuit having an arterial blood line with an arterial patient port and/or at least one venous blood line with a venous patient port, and a dialysis fluid system which has a dialysis fluid supply line and a dialysis fluid drain line. The monitoring device selects and senses a measured value during operation of the extracorporeal blood treatment device which is suitable for monitoring the blood treatment device to compare a time-related actual course of the measured value with a target course of the measured value stored in a memory, and to determine that there is a defect if, at least in sections, the actual course of the measured value deviates from the target course by more than a defined tolerance.
Catheter assembly
A catheter assembly includes a catheter, an inner needle, and a deflection suppression mechanism that suppresses a deflection of the inner needle. A side flow path structure having at least one liquid passage is provided on a circumferential wall of the catheter. The deflection suppression mechanism has a sliding contact support portion that can support the catheter while sliding against the catheter when the catheter is advanced with respect to the inner needle. In an initial state, the sliding contact support portion is located to be closer to a proximal side than a liquid passage located on a most distal side in the side flow path structure.
Lock solution for venous catheters using sodium bicarbonate
A Sodium Bicarbonate Catheter Lock Solution that prevents clot formation inside the catheter lumen and ensures patency of the catheter and also eliminates bleeding and other complications caused through the use of anticoagulants and other solutions as a catheter locking solution. Said lock solution may be used with or without other components such as antimicrobials/antibiotics and/or anti-coagulants/anti-clotting agents.
Adjustable-length dual-lumen hemodialysis catheter and a method for its use
The present adjustable-length dual-lumen hemodialysis catheter can eliminate the need to stock various lengths of hemodialysis catheters and can provide a hemodialysis catheter, which can be trimmed to various lengths in order to precisely accommodate patients of various shapes and sizes. Specifically, the present adjustable-length dual-lumen hemodialysis catheter can comprise a cuff ring assembly, which can be secured at selected locations along the trailing limbs of the catheter allowing the cuff ring assembly to be installed in a location chosen to precisely fit a particular patient.
Hemodialysis catheter with displaceable lumens to disrupt a fibrous sheet
A hemodialysis catheter with an integrated means of displacing away from each other portions of a distal end of a tube assembly. The displacement serves to allow a fibrous sheath to be disrupted without removing the catheter from a patient.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR THE DIALYSIS OF BLOOD
Apparatus for use in dialyzing a patient, the apparatus comprising: a hemodialysis catheter comprising: an elongated body having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the distal end terminates in a substantially planar distal end surface; first and second lumens extending from the proximal end of the elongated body to the distal end of the elongated body, wherein the first and second lumens terminate on the substantially planar distal end surface in first and second mouths, respectively, arranged in side-by-side configuration, and further wherein the first and second lumens are separated by a septum; and first and second longitudinal slots formed in the distal end of the elongated body and communicating with the interiors of the first and second lumens, respectively, the first and second longitudinal slots opening on the substantially planar distal end surface; wherein the first and second longitudinal slots each has a length and a width, relative to the dimensions of the first and second lumens and the rate of blood flow to be passed through the hemodialysis catheter, such that (i) when a given lumen is to be used for a return function, the primary blood flow will exit the mouth of that lumen, and (ii) when a given lumen is to be used for a suction function, the primary blood flow will enter the proximal end of the longitudinal slot associated with that lumen, whereby to minimize undesirable recirculation of dialyzed blood.
Hemodialysis Device
A hemodialysis device is described herein. An exemplary hemodialysis device includes an import tube, a dialysis tube, and an export tube. The dialysis tube includes an inner dialysis tube, a dialysis membrane and an outer dialysis tube. The inner dialysis tube is within the dialysis membrane, which is within the outer dialysis tube. An inlet and an outlet of the inner tube are disposed at a first end of the outer dialysis tube. The inlet of the inner dialysis tube is coupled to the import tube and the outlet of the inner dialysis tube is coupled to the export tube. The dialysis tube is inserted into an artery of a patient, and thereby performs hemodialysis within the body. Since the hemodialysis in performed within the artery instead of drawing blood out of the body, the hemodialysis device will minimally affect blood pressure, which is more economic and safe.
High-flow port and infusion needle systems
The present invention relates to a multi-reservoir port, catheter, and non-coring needle system that supports high-flow applications such as hemodialysis and apheresis. In particular, the invention relates to improvements to provide optimal flow rates, septum life, and septum/needle stability when introducing fluid into the multi-reservoir port.
