Ampule Autoinjector Systems And Methods

An autoinjector is described that includes an outer body, a first trigger, an output needle, and a first compartment. The first compartment is positioned within the outer body and includes (i) a main body, (ii) a first biasing member coupled to the first trigger, and (iii) a protrusion positioned at a distal end of the main body. The autoinjector further includes a second compartment positioned in the outer body and in fluid communication with the first compartment and the output needle. The autoinjector also includes a second biasing member coupled to a second trigger. The first biasing member is configured to, upon application of force to the first trigger, automatically move an ampule in a distal direction relative to the main body to force the ampule against the protrusion, so as to break the ampule and allow a medicament to flow from the ampule to the second compartment.

Processes for delivery of viscous drug therapies

Core annular flow is used to enable the subcutaneous delivery of a viscous fluid such as a protein therapeutic formulation. The high-viscosity fluid is surrounded by a low-viscosity fluid, and the low-viscosity fluid lubricates the passage of the high-viscosity fluid. This allows the use of protein formulations that have a higher concentration and a higher viscosity at comparatively reduced injection forces and reduced injection times. Several different embodiments of injection devices that provide core annular flow are described herein.

Injection device

Described is an injection device (1) for administering a drug, the injection device (1) comprising a cartridge holder (2) adapted to receive a drug cartridge (3), a hollow injection needle (6) having a proximal tip (6.2) adapted to pierce a septum (4) of the cartridge (3) so as to establish a fluid communication between the cartridge (3) and the needle (6), and a cap (7) arrangeable over the cartridge holder (2) in a manner to cover the needle (6). In an initial state the cartridge (3) is arranged within the cartridge holder (2) with the septum (4) axially spaced from the proximal tip (6.2) of the needle (6). The cap (7) is adapted to move the needle (6) relative to the septum (4) for piercing it on movement of the cap (7) relative to the cartridge holder (2).

INJECTION DEVICES

The invention relates to an injection device which includes a handle and a guard which together enclose a movable cartridge which can contain liquid material to be injected, and further enclose a movable injector that includes a needle, the needle being attached to a housing where the housing is attached to the cartridge, the device also including a delivery mechanism whereby the needle is moved from a retracted to an extended position, and independently the volume of the chamber may be adjusted to expel the contents thereof through the needle and into a subject in need thereof. The injection device may be communicatively connected to a control unit so as to provide a dermal injection system.

A packaging for a medical device and medicament comprising a packaging body having first and second regions. A medicament delivery device is received in the first region and a medicament container is received in the second region. The medicament delivery device includes a chamber configured to receive the medicament container. The packaging body includes a hinge between the first and second regions such that the first and second regions are pivotable about the hinge from a storage position in which the first and second regions are spaced apart to a loading position in which the first region lies adjacent the second region. The chamber and medicament container are equidistantly spaced from the hinge such that the medicament container is loaded into the chamber when the first and second regions are pivoted into the loading position.

A device includes a housing having a first end, a second end, a first cylinder, a second cylinder parallel to the first cylinder, and a channel connecting the first and second cylinders near the second end. A piston is positioned within the first cylinder. A cartridge containing a therapeutic agent is positioned within the second cylinder. A needle hub containing a needle is positioned within the second cylinder between the cartridge and the first end. A septum is positioned at the first end. A fluid is positioned within the first cylinder. When the device is activated, the piston travels toward the second end, forcing some of the fluid to travel from the first cylinder into the second cylinder, forcing the cartridge toward the first end, causing the needle to penetrate the cartridge and the septum, and causing at least some of the therapeutic agent to extrude through the needle

MEDICAMENT PACKAGING ASSEMBLY

A medicament packaging assembly for installation in a medicament delivery device is disclosed. The packaging assembly comprises a cartridge having a medicament chamber, a sealing element for sealing a distal end of the medicament chamber, a sealing element release member, a cannula and a removable cap member. The assembly is switchable from a starting configuration in which the release member is spaced from the sealing element to an activated configuration in which the release member cooperates with the sealing element to connect the medicament chamber to the cannula. The packaging assembly further comprises a first chamber defined in part by the cap member and arranged for receiving the cannula such that at least a distal end of the cannula is sealed in the first chamber when the cap member is in place, and a second chamber defined in part by the sealing element and arranged for receiving the release member such that at least a proximal end of the release member is sealed in the second chamber when the assembly is in the starting configuration. The assembly can be pre-assembled in the starting configuration for subsequent installation in the device.

RADIOEMBOLIZATION DELIVERY DEVICE

A delivery assembly includes a console including a vial containment region and a vial engagement mechanism extending from the console within the vial containment region. The engagement mechanism is configured to engage a vial assembly. The delivery assembly further includes a sled assembly removably coupled to the console at the vial containment region and a safety shield removably coupled to the console over the vial containment region such that the vial engagement mechanism and the sled assembly are encapsulated within the safety shield when the safety shield is coupled thereto.
