CARTRIDGE BASED AUTO-INJECTOR
The present invention is an auto-injector for the administration and self-administration of drugs by subcutaneous, intramuscular or intra-dermal injection and for drug solutions or suspensions. The auto-injector may comprise three modules for ease of assembly, the modules principally including a standard cartridge module with stopper and septum, a power source and indicator module that pushes against the cartridge stopper pressurizing contents, an injection progress indicator and a needle shuttle comprising of two needles, one needle being the injection needle and one needle being the septum needle. A needle guard ensures that the needle is always covered thus hiding the needle before and after the injection and that prevents needle stick injurie.
Automatic drug delivery devices
The invention provides in one aspect a drug delivery device comprising a drug container assembly containing a drug, and a plunger positioned within the container assembly, the drug container assembly having an outlet for dispensing the drug, wherein, in an initial position, the outlet is sealed; a drive mechanism comprising a first stored energy source operable to apply pressure on the plunger or the drug container to pressurise the drug, and a first release mechanism operable to unseal the outlet after the drug has been pressurised. In another aspect, there is provided a drug delivery device comprising a housing, including an external housing portion configured to be held in use and a drug containing portion containing a drug, a needle assembly comprising a needle fixed to a needle hub, the needle hub configured to move relative to the drug containing portion from an initial position within the housing to an insertion position in which the needle extends beyond the housing, a first stored energy source configured to move the needle hub from the initial position to the insertion position, and a plunger within the housing and configured to move relative to the drug containing portion to eject the drug through the needle when the needle is in the insertion position.
Intraosseous injection device
A device for intraosseous injection is provided which can accurately, quickly, and safely introduce desired fluid into a patient's bone marrow. The intraosseous injector includes a housing, a container located within the housing, a hollow needle, and a valve. The intraosseous injector may further include a release mechanism comprising a bone probe needle and a movable release member. The intraosseous injector may include a depth limiter mechanism operable to limit a depth of penetration of the needle relative to a surface of a bone. A method for intraosseous injection is also provided.
DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE CASSETTE
A drug delivery device may include a cassette with a needle assembly and a cartridge. The cassette is configured to couple and decouple from a reusable module. The device may also comprise an orientation mechanism to orient the cassette in relation to another device, such as a reusable housing. The device may comprise an extendable and retractable needle assembly. The cassette configuration is adapted to have a stopper with a short travel (no more than 14 mm) to deliver 1 mL of medication. The cassette may have a ratio of height to diameter from 2:1 to 1:1. The cassette may include a pair of drivable interfaces for being driven to actuate the stopper to expel medication and to drive the needle assembly between a retracted and extended configuration for controlled fluid communication between the needle and reservoir.
Medicament delivery devices
A medicament delivery device (100) for delivery of medicament from a cartridge (10) into an injection site, through a cannula (134). The cartridge has a medicament chamber (14) with an outlet (15), and a sealing element (16) for closing the outlet (15). The device has a housing (102) for receiving the cartridge (10), and a drive mechanism (200) to expel the medicament from the device upon activation of the drive mechanism (200). The device has a connection arrangement (199) comprising a hub (166) and spring means (184) for driving relative movement between the hub (166) and the cartridge (10) upon operation of an operating member (190). The operating member switches the connection arrangement (199) from an unconnected configuration to a connected configuration, in which the hub (166) cooperates with the cartridge (10) to open the outlet (15). When connected, fluid may flow between the chamber (14) and the cannula (134).
MEDICAMENT INJECTION DEVICE
A medicament injection device comprising a main body arranged to receive a medicament cartridge; a needle carrier carrying a needle, wherein the needle carrier is axially movable with respect to the main body; and a rotatable cap at a distal end of the device, wherein the cap is removably coupled to the needle carrier, a releasable arrangement between the main body and the cap comprising a guide element and a slotted link, wherein the slotted link is arranged to cause the guide element to follow a predefined path at least partly in an axial direction during rotational movement of the cap, thereby causing the needle carrier to move axially towards a proximal end of the device as the cap is rotated up to a predefined point, wherein the main body comprises a medicament cartridge holder comprising the guide element depending therefrom for engagement with the cap.
A SHIELD TRIGGER MECHANISM AND AN INJECTION DEVICE WITH A SHIELD TRIGGER MECHANISM
The invention relates to a spring driven injection device for expelling doses a liquid drug. A housing structure secures a container containing a liquid drug to be injected via a spring driven dose engine. A needle shield is rotatably relatively to the housing structure between a locked position and an unlocked position. In the locked position the needle shield is prevented from axial movement and in the unlocked position axially movement is possible by applying an axial force onto the needle shield. Axial movement of the needle shield activates the spring driven dose engine to automatically eject the dose of the liquid drug from the container. The needle shield is rotational guided from the locked position to the unlocked position in a track arrangement which is further configured to prevent the needle shield in rotation from the locked position to the unlocked position during application of the axial force to the needle shield.
Injector and method of assembly
An injector may include a container having a wall with an interior surface defining a closed sterile reservoir filled with a drug product. The injector may also include a fluid delivery system comprising a sterile container needle that is in fluid communication with the container in a delivery state, but may or may not be in fluid communication with the container in a storage state. Further, the injector may include an actuator that is adapted to move the container needle from the storage state to the delivery state.
GAS PERMEABLE SEALING MEMBER FOR DRUG CONTAINER AND METHODS OF ASSEMBLY
Drug delivery devices, sealing members for containers housed within such drug delivery devices, and related methods of assembly are disclosed. The drug delivery device may include a housing, a container disposed in the housing and having an interior volume, a drug disposed in the interior volume, and a septum. The container may have an opening formed in an end surface and which communicates with the interior volume. The septum may include a proximal end inserted through the opening into the interior volume of the container. Additionally, the septum may include a distal end having a flange disposed outwardly of the proximal end and contacting the end surface of the container. At least an end portion of the flange may be made of a material that is permeable to a gaseous sterilizing agent.
Wearable injection device
The invention relates to a wearable injection device (1) for subcutaneous injection of a therapeutic agent, wherein the dose is injected over a specified period of time after the device is activated.
