A drug delivery device comprising: a housing; a cylindrical member rotatably supported within the housing; and a plurality of sensors; wherein: the outer surface of the cylindrical member is provided with a single track, the track forming an encoder and having a plurality of first track segments and a plurality of second track segments arranged along the length of the track which are respectively capable of inducing first and second responses in the sensors; and in each rotational position of the cylindrical member relative to the housing at least one different first track segment is capable of inducing a first response in at least one said sensor, thereby enabling the rotational position of the cylindrical member relative to the housing to be determined.

Systems, devices, and techniques are disclosed for administering and tracking medicine to patients and providing health management capabilities for patients and caregivers. In some aspects, a system includes an injection pen device including a dose setting mechanism, a dispensing mechanism, and an electronics unit to generate dose data associated with a dispensing event of a dose of the medicine dispensed from the injection pen device and time data associated with the dispensing event; a mobile device in wireless communication to receive and process the dose data; and a software application configured to determine a recommended dose based on health data and contextual data associated with a user of the injection pen device, the software application including a learning dose calculator module to adaptively calculate the recommended dose of the medicine based on time-relevant and circumstances-relevant data specific to the user of the injection pen device.

A dosage verification system for use prior to administering an injection of a medicinal fluid drawn into a medical syringe, the system comprising a medical syringe having a barrel with an outwardly facing, flat indicia display surface, plunger having a plunger seal disposed inside and slidably engaging an inwardly facing wall of the barrel and a plunger handle projecting rearwardly from the barrel, and a hypodermic needle projecting forwardly from the barrel, all in combination with an imaging device configured to view and selectively capture, store or transmit a digital image of the plunger position relative to the barrel when a dose of the medicinal fluid is drawn into the fluid chamber of the barrel prior to an injection to verify and provide a record of the dosage drawn, and to alert a user prior to injection when an incorrect dosage is drawn into the fluid chamber of the syringe.

A dose setting mechanism for a medicament delivery device, which dose setting mechanism comprises, a tubular member 10 having a longitudinal track 18 of a predetermined length; a dose drum 40, coaxial with the tubular member 10, and being axially and rotationally movable relative to the tubular member 10; a stop member 90, axially movable but rotationally locked relative to the tubular member 10, and further being in an axially slaved connection with the dose drum 40; wherein said stop member 90 comprises a track follower 98 in engagement with the longitudinal track 18, such that rotational movement of the dose drum 40 relative to the tubular member 10 may cause a maximum axial displacement of said dose drum 40 and said stop member 90, relative to the tubular member 10, corresponding to said predetermined length.

The present disclosure relates in one aspect to a measuring arrangement for measuring a volume occupied by a liquid medium inside a liquid reservoir, the measuring arrangement including a container having an interior volume containing a gas reservoir filled with a gaseous medium and containing a liquid reservoir filled with a liquid medium, wherein the gas reservoir and the liquid reservoir are hermetically separated by an impenetrable separation wall, a volume modulator to induce a volume change of the gas reservoir, a pressure sensor arranged inside the gas reservoir to measure a pressure change of the gaseous medium in response to the volume change of the gas reservoir, and a controller connectable to the pressure sensor, wherein the controller is configured to calculate the volume of the liquid reservoir on the basis of the pressure change and the volume change.

A methodology to track patient usage of an autoinjector (AI) device, and to an external or electronic adaptor (eAdaptor) adapted to be used with the AI are disclosed. The eAdaptor contains sensors (including but not limited to a temperature sensor, a sound sensor, a vibration sensor and a magnetic sensor system), a display, a microprocessor, a real time clock, and communication systems that enables the eAdaptor to capture and confirm autoinjector (AI) use, as well as injection information, and transmit such information wirelessly to a smart phone or any other data receiving system or device. Also disclosed are an internal logic to operate the eAdaptor and a smart device APP that pairs with the internal logic to guide the patients with graphical user interface (GUI) displays on the smart device.
Injection unit for administering or delivering a fluid product
The invention relates to an injection unit, preferably a pen-shaped injection unit, for administering or delivering a fluid product. The injection unit comprises a housing, an axially movable piston rod mounted in the housing in a non-rotatable manner, a delivery apparatus having a threaded nut that is able to move the piston rod in order to deliver product, a dosing device having a dosing sleeve, a rotary knob, a discharge button arranged coaxially on the dosing sleeve, and a receptacle for the product. The dosing device is connected to the delivery apparatus via a coupling mechanism, wherein the coupling mechanism includes of at least two coupling surfaces that each carry a toothing comprising teeth, wherein the coupling surfaces are used to generate an acoustic and/or tactile signal corresponding to the set or corrected dose of the product to be administered during the dosing operation or during correction of the dose.

In some aspects, a method includes receiving one or more analyte values associated with a health condition of the patient user; receiving contextual data associated with the patient user obtained by the mobile computing device, where the obtained contextual data includes information associated with a meal; determining a medicine metric value associated with an amount of medicine active in the body of the patient user; autonomously calculating a dose of the medicine without input from the user based at least on the one or more analyte values, the medicine metric value, and the information associated with a meal; and continuously displaying the calculated dose of the medicine.
Drive mechanism for an injection device
The disclosure relates to an injection device for expelling of a number of preset or user-selectable doses of a medicament. The injection device includes an elongated housing extending along an axial direction and configured to accommodate a cartridge containing the medicament and having a bung sealing a proximal end of the cartridge, a windup expelling mechanism, and a dose setting mechanism. The dose setting mechanism includes a handle, a dose tracking member, and a limiter. The dose tracking member is rotatable relative to the housing within a range of positional states and operatively connectable to the handle for tracking a rotation thereof. The limiter is operationally engageable with the dose tracking member and a trigger of the windup expelling mechanism for blocking actuation of the trigger when the dose tracking member is in one of a number of predetermined sections of the range of positional states.
