Drug delivery device and methods having an occluding member
Drug depot delivery devices and methods for delivering a drug depot to a site beneath the skin of a patient are provided. In various embodiments the device has a housing having a top housing end, and a bottom housing end. The housing defines a housing channel. The device has a drug cartridge defining a depot channel aligned with the housing channel and configured to slidably accept the drug depot. The drug cartridge has at least a first occluding device configured to occlude the depot channel at a first position such that the drug depot cannot pass through the depot channel without force applied to the drug depot sufficient to deflect the first occluding device. The bottom end of the housing has a coupling configuration for engaging a cannula. A plunger has a push rod to expel the drug depot through the occluding device and the cannula.
Drug Delivery Device with Cartridge Centring Feature
Drug delivery device adapted to receive a cartridge, comprising a piston driver adapted to expel an amount of drug from a received cartridge, and a base member adapted to engage a cartridge and position the cartridge relative to the piston driver, the base member comprising a main portion with a central passage, a portion of the piston driver being arranged axially displaceable through the passage, the piston driver distal end being arranged distally of the central passage, and flexible centring means adapted to receive the proximal end of a cartridge and centre it relative to the central opening and thereby to the piston driver.
SYRINGE INFUSION PUMP SECURITY
An infusion pump can include a syringe receptacle, a retention mechanism, a drive mechanism, and a keyed lock. The retention mechanism can inhibit removal of the syringe from the receptacle when in an engaged state, and enable removal of the syringe when in a disengaged state. The drive mechanism can include a pusher to selectively couple to a thumb press of the syringe, a motor coupleable to the pusher, and a clutch to couple and decouple the motor to the pusher. The keyed lock can operate in coordination with the retention and drive mechanisms such that, if: the keyed lock is locked, the retention mechanism is in the engaged state, and the pusher is coupled to the thumb press of the syringe, then as long as the keyed lock remains locked, the retention mechanism is constrained to the engaged state and the clutch to the coupled state.
NOVEL DEVICE FOR OPHTHALMIC DELIVERY
Described herein is an intracameral therapeutic agent delivery device in the form of a pen-injector comprising a cartridge container for dispensing multiple doses of a medicament, coupled to an actuation assembly within a housing. A needle assembly is coupled to the distal end of the cartridge container, provided with a removable cap received within the housing will be in optional pre-sterile or no-sterile condition. Use of such device for the prevention or treatment of ocular conditions or diseases is also disclosed.
SINGLE HAND INJECTION CONTROL DEVICE WITH A SELF-ADJUSTING POSITION REFERENCE
A single hand operable injection control device (ICD) automatically injects material into a subject tissue at a rate controllably proportional to the rate of movement of the syringe. Squeezing the figure holds rotates a transmission/timing belt that is connected to a position reference member/guide that pushes against the subject tissue, causing the ICD body (containing the syringe) to push away from the subject tissue. The timing belt turns a worm gear that drives a syringe plunger into the syringe held by the ICD. The coordinated motions result in precise delivery of a unit volume/region of injectate into the subject. That is, a uniform “tube” of injectate is automatically laid in the cannula track.
ROTARY VALVE PUMP FOR AUTOMATIC DRUG COMPOUNDER
Various aspects of the subject disclosure relate to a compounder system having a cartridge that includes controllable fluid pathways. One or more rotary piston pump/valves may be used to move fluid and/or gasses through the various fluid pathways of the cartridge. For example, the cartridge may include a dedicated rotary piston pump/valve for each process that moves fluid and/or gas through the cartridge. When turning, the rotary piston pump/valve acts as a pump to move the fluid or gas, and when the rotary piston pump/valve stops turning, it effectively acts as a shutoff valve, preventing any fluid flow. Magnetic couplers for the cartridge may be provided on a pump head of the compounder system.
Auto-injector apparatus
Disclosed is an auto-injector apparatus for receiving a safety syringe, the safety syringe including a sheath deployable on actuation of a plunger to a position at least partially covering a needle of the syringe, wherein the apparatus is configured to allow movement of the sheath to a closed position that substantially covers the needle.
AUTO INJECTOR WITH EFFECTIVE INSERTION SYSTEM
An auto injector for delivery of administering a medicament comprising: a housing; an electrical motor adapted to move a piston between proximal and distal positions in a longitudinal direction of the auto injector; a syringe holder extending from a proximal to a distal end and configured to receive a syringe, a first spring adapted for moving the syringe holder with the syringe proximally for insertion of the needle; wherein the electrical motor is the only motor in the auto injector.
Infusion unit
Improvements in an infusion unit are disclosed. The infusion unit is a portable pump that can be used with patient that have wrist access or decubital PICC/MID-LINES without the risk of line accidently getting pulled. The infusion unit is in the shape of a conveniently shell that has an appearance of an arm cast. There are no hoses that extend beyond the body of the infusion unit and any vein penetration is completely covered under the body of the infusion unit. The secure enclosed unit prevents unauthorized tampering and entry into the unit. The medication dosing can be remotely monitored, fusion resumed, changed by nursing and the patient. The infusion unit has a wireless connection to a network to adjust medication and monitor vital signs, namely heart rate, O2 level and blood pressure that can be monitored and recorded for review.
Auto injector with temperature control
Disclosed is an auto injector and a method for administering a medicament. The auto injector comprising: a housing; a cartridge receiver; a drive module coupled to move a plunger rod configured to move a first stopper; a temperature sensor configured to provide a temperature signal indicative of the temperature of the medicament in the cartridge; a processing unit configured to: receive the temperature signal; control the drive module to move the plunger rod from a first plunger rod position to a mix plunger rod position wherein the movement from the first plunger rod position to the mix plunger rod position is based on the temperature signal.
