A controller assembly of a fluid delivery apparatus includes a body component and a plunger component slidably coupled to the body component. The plunger is positionable between a first position in which the plunger is nearest to the body component, and a second position in which the plunger component is furthest from the body component. A bias assembly positioned between the body component and the plunger component applies a two stage force profile to the plunger component. The bias assembly includes a first and a second biasing member. In the first position, the first and second biasing members apply first and second forces profiles, respectively, to the plunger component. In the second position, the first biasing member is prevented from applying the first force profile to the plunger component, and the second biasing member applies the second force profile to the plunger component.

AUTO INJECTOR WITH VARIABLE PLUNGER FORCE

Disclosed is a method and an auto-injector for administering a medicament. The auto injector comprising: a housing; a cartridge receiver configured to receive a cartridge comprising a first stopper; a drive module coupled to move a plunger rod between a retracted plunger rod position and an extended plunger rod position, the plunger rod being configured to move the first stopper; a resistance sensor configured to provide a resistance signal indicative of resistance against movement of the plunger rod; and a processing unit coupled to the drive module and to the resistance sensor. The processing unit being configured to: control the drive module to move the plunger rod towards the extended plunger rod position with a plunger rod speed; determine plunger rod position; receive the resistance signal; and control the drive module to adjust movement of the plunger rod if the resistance signal is indicative of resistance against movement of the plunger rod above a high resistance threshold, wherein the high resistance threshold is based on the plunger rod position.

Disclosed is a needle-free injector including a power supply unit, a coil that receives current from the power supply unit, a drug chamber in which a drug is positioned, a housing connected to the drug chamber, a separation membrane that separates the housing and the drug chamber, a metal material adjacent to a separation membrane, and an injection unit positioned in the drug chamber to inject the drug. The coil is positioned outside the housing or outside the drug chamber.

A drug delivery device may include a cassette with a needle assembly and a cartridge. The cassette is configured to couple and decouple from a reusable module. The device may also comprise an orientation mechanism to orient the cassette in relation to another device, such as a reusable housing. The device may comprise an extendable and retractable needle assembly. The cassette configuration is adapted to have a stopper with a short travel (no more than 14 mm) to deliver 1 mL of medication. The cassette may have a ratio of height to diameter from 2:1 to 1:1. The cassette may include a pair of drivable interfaces for being driven to actuate the stopper to expel medication and to drive the needle assembly between a retracted and extended configuration for controlled fluid communication between the needle and reservoir.

The infusion unit is a portable pump that can be used with patient that have wrist access or decubital PICC/MID-LINES without the risk of line accidently getting pulled. The infusion unit is in the shape of a conveniently shell that has an appearance of an arm cast. There are no hoses that extend beyond the body of the infusion unit and any vein penetration is completely covered under the body of the infusion unit. The secure enclosed unit prevents unauthorized tampering and entry into the unit. The medication dosing can be remotely monitored, fusion resumed, changed by nursing and the patient. The infusion unit has a wireless connection to a network to adjust medication and monitor vital signs, namely heart rate, O2 level and blood pressure that can be monitored and recorded for review.
