PEN NEEDLE REMOVAL DEVICE FOR A DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE
A removal device (121, 221) for removing and disposing of a pen needle (113, 213) connectable to a drug delivery device (111, 211) includes a body (123, 223) having a cavity (141, 241) for receiving the pen needle of the drug delivery device such that a patient end (116, 216) of a needle (115, 215) of the pen needle is covered by the body. An ejector (151, 251) is movably connected to the body (123, 223) for engaging the received pen needle (113, 213) and selectively ejecting the engaged pen needle from the body. The pen needle (113, 213) is securely retained within the removal device (121, 221) without exposing the needle (115, 215) of the pen needle until the pen needle (113, 213) can be properly disposed of, such as in a sharps container, thereby substantially preventing an accidental needle stick.
FLUID TRANSFER DEVICES AND CONNECTORS
A fluid transfer device, or connector for a fluid transfer device, including a body member and a disconnecting member having a front portion and a rear portion. The disconnecting member is mounted to the body member so as to allow movement of its front portion relative to a fluid transfer tip, the fluid transfer tip may include a tapered friction fitting for a corresponding hub. There are provided engagement features operating between the disconnecting member and the body member which engage with one another to inhibit the front portion of the disconnecting member from moving relative to the fluid transfer tip. The device is arranged such that the disconnecting member deforms so that the engagement features are no longer in engagement with one another, thereby allowing the front portion of the disconnecting member to move relative to the fluid transfer tip and subsequently release the hub from the friction fitting.
Fluid transfer connection
A fluid transfer device or connection with a fluid transfer tip that has a tapered friction fitting for a corresponding hub. A lever member is pivotally mounted to move relative to the fluid transfer tip. A latch such as a screw thread is mounted on the lever member to engage the hub and provide a positive connection e.g., screw fit in addition to the friction fitting. The lever member may optionally be resiliently biased by a spring. The hub is disconnected from the tip by pivoting the lever member to release the positive connection with the hub and to subsequently release the hub from the friction fitting.
Hinged cap needle assemblies and related methods
A dual purpose needle assembly and related method are disclosed having a needle hub and needle sealed inside a packaging housing with a film cover or layer. The packaging housing has separately formed and subsequently joined cap and base unit with a living hinge optionally joining the two components. The needle assembly is usable without additional packaging and is usable as a hinged cap safety device upon removal of at least a section of the film cover.
Medical needle removal and storage method
An apparatus for removing a needle from a needle holder, including a grasping unit for selectively grasping the needle; a receiving unit for receiving the needle holder, displaceably disposed relative to the grasping unit; a biasing member biasing the receiving unit in a first direction; and separating means for separating the entire needle from the needle holder. Preferably, the needle is heated to melt, soften, or otherwise weaken a material and/or adhesive connecting the needle with the needle holder. Preferably the heating is electrical heating, including completing an electrical circuit through the needle and passing current through the needle, and/or passing current through a heating element.
NEEDLE ASSEMBLY AND DRUG INJECTION DEVICE
A needle assembly includes: a retaining portion; and an elastic member that includes a close contact portion that closely contacts and retains the needle tube such that the needle tube protrudes toward a fitting opening, and a deformation portion that extends from the close contact portion toward the fitting opening and is configured to deform when the drug ejection portion comes into contact with the elastic member, and which is provided in a fitting portion. Further, the length of the deformation portion is in a range of 35% or more and 50% or less with respect to the length of the elastic member, and the length of a portion of the needle tube which protrudes from the close contact portion toward the fitting portion is in a range of 45% or more and 245% or less with respect to the deformation portion.
NEEDLE FOR ADMINISTERING A FLUID
A needle (3) for administering a fluid is presented. The needle (3) comprises a hollow needle body (4) to guide the fluid. The needle body (4) is furthermore formed such that an inlet section (20) of the needle body (4) defines a first flow direction for the fluid and an outlet section (21) of the needle body (4) defines a second flow direction for the fluid, wherein the first flow direction is inclined with respect to the second flow direction.
Integrated syringe
Various embodiments relate to a syringe for separating nucleic acids from a blood sample and systems that include the syringe and a portable PCR device. The syringe may include a shell defining a central aperture extending through a longitudinal axis of the syringe, a plunger disposed within the central aperture of the shell, and a core rotatably disposed within the central aperture. The syringe may further include a needle fluidically connectable to the inlet of the shell. Various embodiments relate to a method for separating nucleic acids from a blood sample, the method comprising drawing the blood sample from a patient using the syringe according to any of the embodiments described herein.
